rim defect

I was cleaning my car today and noticed that the center of my accessory chrome 19" rims are tunning black in between the finish and rim.

Do you think this is normal? Is it possible to clean? Do you think Acura will replace under warrany?

Of the 4 rims 3 of them look pretty bad. The 4th is starting to show some black but not as much.

Any info will be appreciated.

Thanks

Question its a damn shame...

That sucks hawaii, i think that happens to chrome rims when they get moisture in between the original base paint and chrome layer... Those are some beautiful rims just kind of surprised that it happened so fast on yours..?

Dang, sorry to hear about this! Almost looks like corrosion from the pics, though they seem too new for that. Do you live in a very most climate? When I first was reading I was thinking maybe a heat issue but when I looked at the photos it looks more like peeling or corroding, could just be the pics. Acura better warranty these!!

I live in Hawaii so not too wet. Its definately more peeling than corroding. Its like black in between the coating and metal. Ill show my dealer when I take it in for service and see what they say. If they dont warranty them out I think I want my stock rims back cause at least down the road they wont look so bad or old.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Hawaii is NOT to wet? Compare to say.... Phoenix or the Mojave desert?

I would consider Hawaii a rather moist climate, bro.

ok maybe moist but still not unreasonably moist and still don't think the rims should do this in our climate. Also we don't have snow on the road. I would consider that moist.

I think Hawaii has good weather for the cars and they should probably hold up better here than most places. Am I right? I was born and raised in Hawaii so I don't know how cars hold up in other climates. I just figured Hawaii was ok weather for the rims not too wet not too dry not too hot not too cold. I guess I was wrong.

Check out this thread. Looks like other people are having problems with Acura chrome look rims. Hope my dealer is as good as his and replaces my rims.

BeachTyme keep an eye on yours. Plus because you installed them after delivery date I think you only have a one year warranty. (I think)

Well good luck with everything, I hope the dealer or Acura has a good solution for for this issue. Phoenix is a great climate too with everyday sunshine for the most part. The only thing you have to watch out for is the sun. Most the old cars out here look like cop cars because they are all faded and two toned to #$%@!
