New Owner of a Black ZDX

Just picked mine up yesterday. Black with Taupe (wanted Umber but was told I would have to wait about 7 more months when I ordered it) My accessories arrive next week. First of all, I would like to state for the record that I and my friends had no problem getting into the back seat. No bumps or bruises or any discomfort of any sort... we are all averaging 5'8" though. Yes it's tight but survivable, much better than the Lexus SC. (I know apples/oranges but that is the car with the most superfluous backseat) Now my taller friends....I may need a shoe horn to force them in but I didn't buy it for them, nor did I buy it for the gratuitous cargo space which is far superior to that of my Saturn Sky. No, I bought it because it meets all the needs I have; Something drivable in the winter, comfortable for long trips, reliable, and a bit unique.

Now for the critiques... It is comfortable, quality is evident and it's a little unique just like everything else. I would go into more detail but the clock on the wall says I have to go to work...! I will see about posting photos sometime next week when all the bits & pieces arrive and are affixed.

I got the Tech package, The only thing I wanted from the Advanced package was the Vented Seats. Accessories I'm waiting for are, the nice looking LED Running Boards, that slightly larger rear spoiler, The shiny fake wood trim, & the door bouncing side molding. I was "forced" to get what is called the NW Package. Essentially the same as the protection package & all season package, don't know why they just cant say that at the dealers. Anyway... after a few days of driving I can further critique. The ride is as expected. Smooth, feels like a luxury SUV would. Cabin is exceptionally quiet except when one drives on the really crappy studded tire rutted roads of the Pacific NW, then the subdued road noise does permeate the cabin. Still superior to other vehicles I have owned. This is my first vehicle with Voice activated software and I find it quite comical and functional. A bit unneeded but functional gimmick none the less. The Paddle shifters I do not like. The transmission is so smooth I can't tell when to shift. I find it unnerving and a trend in luxury vehicles that needs to go away. In a vette or similar... yes, ok, maybe... if for some reason one would buy an auto trans. But then why would any one want auto in a sports car....? That's your debate. My opinion... I don't like the paddles, rather keep the two transmissions separate the way God intended! The Navigation is good, accurate and mostly up to date. Did find a new highway finished the end of 09 that was not on the map wonder how soon till that will be updated. Still, surprised to see many other roads in my neighborhood that are new as of 09. Ok what else... oh yeah...Sound system, it is nothing short of stunning for a stock audio system. I am very pleased that one only needs a flash drive to store all their audio files and plug it in. Not a fan of XM wish they went with HD instead but don't listen to radio anyway..., also I like that I can put up my own wallpaper... I have a pic of the HAL 9000. Lastly, the manuals for this vehicle are quite large. Ok time for another drive to work. More latter and I'll put pics up when the rest is added and a sunny day cometh.

Again, more to follow when I get some better pics.

answers to questions:

Tech Package W/ accessories
Will be painting the "beak"/"bottle opener" to match soon.
Will be tinting front windows soon.
May get some 20" or maybe even larger wheels if & when I find something I like.

A lot of the negative feedback about the ZDX is about the back seat entry/ exit and comfort... what's your take on that, Rahn? I'm interested in one when my RL is paid for later this year but my parents come to visit often and much as we want to take my sis's Buick Enclave all the time, they might need to ride with me. Other than that, I usually drive to work alone. If the ZDX doesn't work for me, I'll have to go MDX.

Just wanted to get your POV having actually acquired one. Thanks!

The back seats in the ZDX are even worse than in the X6...
My suggestion is: get an MDX.
It's cheaper, roomier, has 3 zone clim. control and the entertainment system.
Or if you drive alone most of the time buy better a REAL coupe AWD...

See my first post at the top. 5' 9" and below will fit without any issues. It's much like most coupes in the rear maybe that is why Acura chose to equivocate and call it a coupe. I

Also look at what Krio has posted. Top one. I saw that before I bought mine and thought that guy was an idiot that doesn't like sharp corners. He does have good things to say however and makes good points though I disagree with some. There is a second part to that same review also if you can find it. This car really can be polarizing.

Honestly, who would do that to a door? Think I will paint my beak/bottle opener black and orange.

Really need a smiley with an eye patch.
