How much would you lower your ZDX? Advice needed pls!
Hey guys, I know of you have done some amazing things with your ZDX and was hoping for some advice...
I'm looking into Coilsprings.com (like you recommended) and just wondered if you'd recommend a specific drop amount for front/rear?
I'm thinking 1.75" up front and 1.5" in the rear. Maybe even 2"F/1.75"R.
Think that'd make for a nice, even drop?
Looking to get 20's with a nice concave as well - do you think they'd rub at all on 295 or 285/40s?
Trying to go for a low, wide dark theme.
Thanks!
Billy

Did you see this tread on lowering a MDX tech.

Might just be the same parts if you have a base/tech ZDX.

Yes another former member here used the Odyssey springs on his Z but needed to cut the rears and said if he could do it again he would get custom springs from coilsprings.com because the ride was too rough.
It could also be because he had 22's as well.
Anyway, I still might give the Odyssey spring route a shot.
Coilsprings.com option would cost almost $1000 after shipping to Canada. Hard to justify that; might as well go air ride if i spent that much.
If I do get the Odyssey springs I'll let you all know how it goes!

Was the other Z owner an Advance model? I figured lowering springs on the advance model ZDX or MDX with magnetic shocks would produce a harsher ride than normal (riding on 22" probably another nail in the coffin). Plus, the magnetic shock can cost $700-$1000 each to just purchase wouldn't temp me since they fail so often without any help from a suspension mod. I would think only the tech models or 13 ZDX could go the lowering spring route?
I have the Tech package, so am wondering how the ride would compare. mugen_kid did say his ride was harsh after a while, but like you, am wondering if it would be the same for a non-Advance Z.
I've gotten a quote from Coilsprings.com and it would be about $750 USD ($900 CAD as of today's exchange rates) to produce and ship the springs to me in Toronto, Canada.
This also includes cost to get a sample of the OEM rear springs they they can build off of. Apparently they have our front spring data on file, but not the rears which is why they need to get that sample.
05-07 Odyssey springs are about $500 CAD shipped on EBay right now.
So, am wondering if that's the more sensible route at almost half the cost.
Ugh, I wish there was a simpler way to do this! I'm really itching to drop the Z but am hesitating because of unknown risks (ride quality, needing to cut the rear H&R springs, etc).
Because of it's beefy, wide stance the Z would look SO sexy (Batmobile!) if it could sit a couple inches lower.
Anyone have other suggestions/thoughts?
