Newbie/Advice

Hi everyone! This is my first time doing a forum, and I am very excited to learn new things. I own an Acura RSX, and am relatively new at driving manual (about 2.5 years). Any advice on how to pick up speed faster, without burning too much gas?

welcome to the forum

The realistic answer to your question is: buy an Electric car.

For normal gas powered cars, faster acceleration = burning more gas in any car, that is because that is how you get the faster acceleration in the first place.

the rush of acceleration is worth watching the gas needle drop, IMHO.

the old adage of "you gotta pay to play" comes into play here

As already stated - acceleration and fuel burning are opposites. One goes up, the other goes down.

The smoother you are the more gas you will save. Comes with practice. But the above replies are right... you will burn more the faster you accelerate...

That's impossible. You can't go faster without burning excessive fuel. The only way you can do that is to buy a electric car or retrofit an electric motor to your RSX.

You can minimize the gas burning effect by learning how to shift at the right rpm. It takes more experience and practice.

Thanks everyone! Bummer that there is no other way around it, but at least now I can confirm it.

Instant torque in e-vehicles make them very fun to drive, until battery dies.
