First gear goes into third.... Lost first gear ??
 

So I was driving to work when I can to a stop so I put the car in neutral. When the traffic starts to go I put it in first gear to start moving but the car felt like it was in 3rd gear and it would pop out and grind and then I would go back to "1st" gear but it kept engaging into 3rd gear.

Do you think I need a new transmission or change the shifter tower..?

If you remove the air cleaner air box, you can easily see the shift linkage to the transmission. Watch the shift levers move while you have someone shift through the gears. If the shift levers don't move properly, pop the cover off of the console and see if you can see the problem. You should be able to figure out if it is a shifter problem by checking these out.
