Finding out what's on my car

I just acquired an RSX Type-S a few days ago. I'm not sure what all I have on my car, so I was wondering if anyone can tell me what to look for and where I should be looking.

One of the previous owners modified the suspension. There are definitely Mugen shocks, but I don't know what kind of struts. They are pink/fuchsia in color.

I know the exhaust was modified. Peering under the vehicle, it all appears to be stainless steel. Where would I find a branding? And if there are headers installed, what's the easiest way to figure out what they are?

If you want to me take pictures of anything I'll do my best. Just let me know what you want to see.

I know the original cat was put back on the car before I got it so it would pass emissions. Any help would be appreciated. From what I'm seeing, the only things that appear to be aftermarket under the car are the shocks and exhaust (beyond the cat)

Yeah whatever the exhaust is, it's awesome. I'll just assume it's a Mugen because it looks like one I saw online. The sound is fantastic, and I never thought I'd say that about a 4-banger.

The shocks are clearly labeled Mugen, but what about that pink/magenta thing to the right of them? What is that? Also, I noticed what appears to be a rust hole on a piece of the car below the shock. Is that something to be concerned about?

Might be a Tanabe Hyper Medallion. Very popular RSX exhaust, looks just like that, and has a very sexy sound. (Not very loud/raspy, nice and deep.)

Check on top of the very end of the tailpipe there might be a logo there. That exhaust looks similar to mine and mine is comptech.

After I did some more digging I thought it might be the Comptech. I really don't know and won't know until I pull off the muffler. I don't recall seeing a label on the top of the tailpipe, but I'll check again.

There is no rasp, but I do get a little resonance at around 2600 and 3200 rpms. I do know that the previous owner that modified the car put the original cat back on to pass emissions. Could the original cat be causing some of the resonance? Or is that a characteristic of select aftermarket exhausts?

Maybe I'll have the body shop check into the exhaust when the car goes in. I had the car for exactly one week when I got rear ended (appears to only be bumper cover damage). Go figure.

From what I see you got

JDM Valve Cover (OEM is silver)
JDM Spark Plug Cover (OEM is black)
JDM Dip stick (OEM is orange)
Mugen Sport Suspension (it's full non adjustable coilovers)
rear sway bar area looks OEM to me, unless you have the ITR sway, which is a little bigger than stock.
the exhaust doesn't look familiar to me, sorry

hope that helps

Wow. Had no idea about any of the JDM equipment. Turns out the exhaust is a T1R (found a badge on the resonator). Apparently mine is one of the first production runs.. so rare that it took 2 months to figure out. Also, a friend of mine who's really into Honda/Acura told me that I probably have a short shift kit, which was news to me as of Friday. Just keep finding new goodies all the time! Now if only I could get my transmission working properly, the car would be perfect (I took it in to the dealer and they replaced the 2nd/3rd gear sets but replacing them didn't fix what I took it in for in the first place).

Take a pic of your shifter and let me see if I can id it. To open it up, push the tab that exposes the cup holders, then using your fingers pull up the plastic panel that surrounds the shifter. It's all clips, just pull hard. I think there is 4 clips.

Sounds like a might break something that way. What kind of clips are we talking about?

metal? plastic? I don't remember, but the clips will break loose before the plastic panel breaks.
