Our First 2013 ILX Arrived
Our first hit the ground late this afternoon, a Tech model in Crystal Black with Ebony. Great wheels and lines especially in black.

I'll be driving through the Acura dealer over here in northwest ohio to see if they got any yet. I think im of the few that actually like it. But the pricing is outrageous. The 2.4l should be standard at the $27k price point. IMO

My dealer had a couple on their lot yesterday. None were prepped yet so they were all dirty, etc., but the ILX is in my opinion, a nice-looking car.

With direct injection and a new transmission to replace the aging 5 spd. auto, yes. Its only a matter of time, and that's the combo I'm waiting on.
I'm not looking at the hybrid, the 2.0 with tech is 31K. Looks are of course subjective, but I like the outside and the interior better than the TSX, and its going to get much better mileage at a cheaper price. What's not to like about that?
New cars are big money these days. My brother is out today, picking up a 2013 Boss 302 Mustang at a price of $45K. A new version of my 01 3-series I had, same options, is now 44k, 12k more than what it was 12 (or 13, perspective) years ago.
I think too many people are basing the price on the fact its Civic based. So what? Its not a Civic. Lots of premium cars are based off lesser vehicles. The TSX is euro Accord based. Its a smaller, lighter chassis. That's a good thing as far as I can see.

Three Wheelin'
Okay, other than the fact the Civic and ILX both have a trunk at the rear they don't even look vaguely similar IMO. The ILX has wrap around taillights, reflectors on the bottom of the bumpers, completely different looking bumpers, etc. Just don't see the similarity myself.

Summer is Coming
I think people will have a hard time with the ... "it's just an upscale Civic" thing because it looks nothing like the civic.
Overall I like the way the car looks. I just think it is over priced. $1,500 to $2,000 cheaper and I think they would sell a lot. At this price point I'm not sure. I hope they sell a lot but I'm doubtful. Maybe if they sit on the lot they will sell them $1,500 to $2,000 less!

Thank you for answering for me
This is a really great looking small sedan. I was just at the ILX Ride & Drive with Acura last Monday, comparing to anything from the Verano to the IS250. I've driven the base car with cloth and the interior is the same, with the exception of a non leather wrapped wheel and stiffer/tighter cloth seats that are fully manual adjust. Still, not bad. Honda 'eque but not bad, with the design of the car.
And it looks absolutely nothing like a Civic in person. The only time you would mention that would be after reading too many autorags, claiming as such. It is definitely smaller than the TSX and more like the 1st gen TSX size & packaging in ways. In my driving, I thought it also rode a bit smoother with the amplitude reactive dampers and seemed to have a bit less road noise than my comparable new 2012 TSX, but I need to do another back to back to compare.
Our next inbound ILX's are a Graphite/Ebony Tech like the black one, and a Black/Black Hybrid Tech.

That rear door looks similar to the IS. Good looking in person but IMO could be more cohesive/original. Certain parts remind me of certain cars. I hope Acura don't screw it up by putting a body kit on certain trims ala last gen Camry SE.

The more I look at the real pictures of it I think im starting to really like it! I could see myself driving one.
Of course at the same time I could get a tech 09-10 TSX for the base price of the ILX lol

I saw one yesterday locally in Madison WI.
I think the car is very attractive. I like Acura's styling direction, will be interesting to see the TLX in a couple of years.
On the interior, I especially liked the metallic surface of the center console. Reminded me of the ZDX. I was not able to get into the car to touch this to see if it was actually metal (or more likely) plastic.
One disappointment... I thought the plastic on the floor console around the shifter was very cheap looking and ill-fitting.
I agree the ILX seems overpriced, it bumps up too closely with the TSX. I'm sure the pricing and product placement will make more sense once the TL/TSX are merged. I think also the strange selection of models of the ILX (and the lack of availability of an automatic transmission/tech package for the 2.4) are going to drive the dealers nuts. They shouldn't even offer the 150hp engine.

I'm confused as to why so many people seem to think this car is a failure. Acura has built a nice looking, premium car with a great interior and fuel economy at a reasonable price. Wasn't that the point in the first place?
This isn't a performance car. If you think the current engines (at least until they put the Earth Dreams engines in them, who knows at that point) aren't good enough, take your 31k and buy a 420hp 2013 Mustang GT.
I personally think this is going to be a hot car for Acura. Cars get more expensive each & every year. Comparing this to someone who pd. 30k for a TL 8 years ago like some have said is silly.
Bottom line, you can spend nearly 30k on a new Ford Focus, or you can buy an ILX. What would you rather be driving?
Just my thoughts. I haven't been able to swing by my dealer yet and check them out, but I hope to soon.

I haven't driven the ilx yet, but it's a safe assumption given that the same suspension is fitted across all ilx models and that most reviewers have been saying that the tsx has crisper handling. Having driven the tsx and the gli, I can say that the gli inspires more confidence in the corners.

The ilx 2.4 has more standard features (hids, push button start, etc), but the gli is more dynamically capable. ILX has a very muted driving experience as compared to the gli.

You have to drive before you can summarize. GLI would be an interesting comparo, and a good one to do.

The ILX is definitely a smaller, lighter and crisper car than the already sharp TSX. Very fun to toss around and that "one" suspension tune is done well and for a reason. I think it might be a hair quieter than the TSX, and the dampers give it a more absorbent ride over some surfaces.

yea, you're right...you could get a fully loaded gli (in auto or manual) for the same money as a base ilx. A fully loaded gli includes leather, navi, and a fender stereo...hmm...looks like gli is a winner on paper.

Being a C&G guy, I wonder if you would prefer the Verano. I'm looking forward to the inevitable comparison tests by the press, but maybe once the Verano Turbo (this year?) and Earth Dreams engine arrive it will be more interesting.

That picture makes me really like the ILX....and i am coming from having two TSX in the past...the 2006 model and the 2009 model. I now have the 2012 TL and the 2013 RDX.
