LED License and Reverse lights in my 2016
Hello all, first thread I've started on this forum. Just thought I'd share some info if anyone is looking to upgrade the license and/or reverse lights in their ILX (or TLX for that matter).
For the license lights, I carried over the SuperbrightLEDs 194 bulbs from my Civic, pictured here:
https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...rofit-car/199/
For the reverse lights, I went with Diode Dynamics 921 bulbs:
921 HP36 Cool White LED (pair) - 921 - LED Bulbs - All Products
And here is the finished product:
Installation is very easy for these. It involves removing four push clips and one philips-screw clip on the trunk lid liner, and getting at the bulb sockets from there.

Didnt you start an LED thread thmanx? Im cant really remember. Last for sure thread I remember was by trent on the 2013-15 specifically.
We could really use a mod that is willing to go through all the threads on the main page, or at least the first few pages, and filter the threads to where they belong so we can clean up this ILX section.
The other lighting threads (the none model year specific ones) should be merged into one thread and thrown into the electronics section. Id suggest this thread be seperate as we could probably use one for each model year.
As for what thmanx mentioned...
Thmanx knows his shit on LEDs. These are what he suggested and wow was I impressed.
The old LEDs on the right are some "super bright" LEDs. I add super bright not to knock the superbright LEDs you posted 1LX but simply because they all claim to be super bright... expect the philips dont make any claim like that.. hmmmm.
Anyways. Light output on bottom left is the philips during the day in my garage and the right is the ebay "superbright" LED which I did think was super bright when I first installed and used them. Once I compared them next to these Philips that thmanx suggested with a 12 YEAR WARRANTY I was blown away. Night and day difference, not that expensive, and a warranty?! Hot damn!
I still need to pick up the brake lights, drl, and fog lights thmanx suggested in my thread! Ive been lazy and spending money in other places than my car.

...and don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking on Diode Dynamics. They do some good work. They bulbs are the 'better' ones out there compared to most generic junk, and the the actual LEDs they use are quality. But raw brightness can't compare to proper focus or homogeneous designs. Times are a changing, and i'm sure DD has some newer designs in the works to keep up.
Again, not bashing DD, I love their stuff; but if you want to get real serious about optical performance with LED's, the design is everything.
Every car is different and if your lucky sometimes a 'flood and prey' design can work well. However I've found on many cars (especially newer ones), if the lights focal point is off even by a few mm's you'll end up wasting all those lumens by scattering the light everywhere.

I will try to do that at some point soon. I don't know if a pic would help, since we would end up with different exposure settings. One thing I *have* found is that with either the DD or stock bulbs, the brake lights really seem to provide the majority of lighting. They are bright on this car.

Sure you cant really compare but it'll give a good idea for those looking to make a purchase.

Realistically were not interested in 'brightness' since that can be compensated with an over exposure or the like.
Whats more important is how the light is captured and focused through the lens.
1000 lumens from a bulb means nothing if only 50 candela actually reach behind you because the light is scattered everywhere.
