"ILXPO" National Meet Idea
Taking a spin on the nomenclature used by the NSX community (NSXPO) for their annual get-together:
The thought crossed my mind while I was out for a run tonight. What is everyone's level of interest in eventually bringing the ILX community together for a meet somewhere in the US lower 48 states (but certainly not excluding our Canadian friends and those traveling from other areas)? We're all here as part of an ownership / enthusiast community because of the Acura ILX.
One of the most rewarding aspects of having driven an Acura for the last 10 years has not been the car itself, but the interaction with other members of this community. I've been been to all 8 Annual NALMs (National Acura Legend Meets) in cities from Las Vegas, Nevada to Morristown, New Jersey. My 1994 Legend only missed one of those, and that's because I took the ILX to the 2012 meet in Milwaukee, Wisconsin last July. It seems crazy to me that a model like the Legend that's been out of production for 18 years still has this strong of a following. The friendships that can be developed out of these car connections last a lifetime. I've maintained contact with individuals from across the country who stay close to me even though many no longer drive Acura Legends. Will the ILX community be just as die-hard?
My point is, how long will it be until the ILX community is big enough to warrant a meet of this magnitude? As of December 31, 2012, there have been 12,251 Acura ILXs sold in the US. Do you think that by 2014 we'd be ready to select a host city and plan an inaugural meet? Or perhaps even a very simple get-together in summer 2013 for the few who might be able to participate? Think it over and weigh in with your feedback.

Sounds like a pretty cool idea. I wonder if there are enough active ilx members to get something like this to have any real traction. Interested to hear what others think.

I should have one by then I'd likely be in for it, depending on location.
