are any other ILX owners experiencing rock chip mania on the hood of car?

very minor, but seems like I found a few rock chips on the hood on different occasions

I've never experienced these issues with my other cars, the other cars I've had have been larger sedans and trucks and I have never experienced so much freak rock chip damage....

the ILX is my first compact car, is this due to small car syndrome or something? do small cars take more abuse on the road? Lol

any ILX owners experiencing rock chips?

really love the car, had the '16 for over a year now and this is my only rant about the car so far.......thinking about keeping it after the lease is up that's how much I am satisfied with the car but these rock chips are bringing my spirits down

it's ashame because I drive it normally not too fast and don't tailgate cars/trucks, and the only issue is coming from freak rock chip accidents

These rock chips are preventable...
Step 1.. buy a car cover.
Step 2.. cut holes on window/light areas of car cover.
Step3.. drive with car cover at all times for MAXIUM protection.

Think of it as your very own Car Condom

Or you can put a clear vinyl wrap on the hood, if theyre small chips the vinyl wrap should protect it

Alternatively:

Step 1: Buy ILX
Step 2: Put ILX in your garage
Step 3: Uber (or if pink is your color, Lyft) everywhere

Then you get all of the great feelings about owning a new car, but you save tons of money on gas, barely use any miles (higher resale value), and best of all, no rock chips! PM me for an invite code to Uber or Lyft to get your first ride free

But to answer your question, on my 2013 BWP ILX Hybrid, I have maybe 2 or 3 larger than average rock chips after 66k miles or so... Nothing out of the ordinarily IMO

OP, you're not seriously asking if the ILX is somehow more of a 'rock chip magnet' than say... any other car on the road are you?

at the responses

you cant avoid rock chips, as every car in front of you is throwing them.

invent a forcefield to deflect them!

I think he's more wondering if all paint is as susceptible to chips as acuras. The answer is no.

some car companies have worse paint than others. Subaru, for example, has horrendous factory paint. But hey, you get a turbo, intercooler and awd in exchange. Can't have it all, unless you're willing to pay much more.

In such a case, Honda paint is a bit on the soft side. It's definitely not the worst, but it's far from the best. The clear bra is your friend. Not cheap to get it done, but after a year of having it on your car, you'll be patting yourself on the back for getting it done. It's worth it's weight in gold.
