To begin with, every trim level of the 2016 ILX now carries as standard equipment the direct-injected 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that was formerly available in the previous ILX only with the six-speed manual transmission. I think I might be swapping out my sti for this...much much more compelling package than the original ILX I bought. More tech, more power (I had the 2.4), better sound deadening...just more luxury. Bravo, Acura!

I really hope that center touch screen will swap out easily with the electronics.
I'm not sure if it will or not but the fit looks direct.

Grill fitment is different. Much wider so that grill wont be changeable unless you swap the entire bumper... assuming the bumper will swap which is looks like it may.

Headlights, I am really not sure yet. With the changes to the grill width I dont know if they altered the light shape as well... hmmm

I like my front end more... I like my read end more. I just need both sets of lights and I would be so damn happy.

Honda usually changes harness connections on the back of the radios/nav's.

now that I think about it...Most auto manu.'s change the rear harness connections for their radios/navs.

you'll most likely need to splice if you wanted that screen/radio.

Electronics is something I do not do.

How possible do you think it is to find someone that could do that if I was able to purchase the screen?

As well would the electronics behind the lights be any different or just a matter of what bulb socket is used?

I wish I wasn't so ignorant when it comes to electronics. I feel much more at ease turning a wrench. I need to take an electronics course at the local college some time.

Never going to be possible, don't waste time trying. Just because a lot of the dash and trim seem similar, all of the electronics behind it are very different, and in modern vehicles such as the ILX none of those items will work unless part of the new wiring harness, Body Control Module, and specific programming.

Current ILX vs. 2016 ILX, not swappable. Will always be different electronics, architecture behind the, programming, etc. This is pretty true for almost any modern vehicle, even model year to model year can be different. Case in point how a 2014 MDX and 2015 MDX look and operate identically, yet the software update for the interior touch screen and nav interfaces only works for 2015's...

What about the electronics behind the headlights? Would that be a matter of just hoping the sockets are the same size to twist into the new housing or would that be completely different and not fit?

^that's a little easier. but it still involves splicing if wire harnesses are different.

Chop off connector from old headlights.
chop off connector on new headlights.

wire/solder old connector to new head light.

I figure if the headlight is 9005 on the first gen and 9005 on the second then the socket should fit right into the housing...? Im wondering about that LED strip though as mine doesnt have that. Hmmmm.

I can deal with no touch screen but Id really like to make the headlights work.

^oh, then you're correct! no splicing needed. you could probably hook up a relay to the LED strip.

is front bumper shaped the same? will headlights fit in your bumper>

Any word if it has a limited slip diff like the Si? I think this may be more appealing to the 3G owners than the TLX, at least size-wise.

It really looks like they will. The only spot that looks different is where the headlight meets the grill. The change may be all in the grill with the headlight shape being left 100% the same with the inside/backing changed.

Which I think is the case. In a recent IG picture of the blue ILX is has a real Jay-Z style facelip... I mean lift. So I think they left the shape of the headlight alone and tucked the grill back a little and pushed the bottom out like a lip ready to catch some barbed wire.

So the A-spec is adds simple styling cues that can be bolted on easily to any car... not front side or rear kit options, just 18in wheels that look like dubs on the stock height, sill garnish, spoiler and fog lights that come standard on anything but the previous base models.

So this leads me to believe the TECH wont have fog lights? That makes no sense and would suck. I feel my tech is more in line with the new aspec minus the spoiler I dont care for.
I honestly think the aspec is a fail without is having a better suspension at least.

Rest of the car as a whole is a win. Different enough to tell the cars apart, some stuff I like, some I really don't.

Wonder if tuning the R series will get the small market of love the D series still has. Build what youve got is what they say!

So A-Spec is only interior updates & wheels?
Also, Premium trim only gets the tethered NAV? Which from what I've read is iOS compatible, no mention of Android.

I'll have to drive one. I'm 99% set on my next car being MT, but if the DCT is good & the car is good, maybe.
I liked how the pre-MMC ILX drove with the 6MT, but didn't like the lack of tech with the 6MT.

It's not the same engine as in current ILX manual.
Instead, it is a slightly downgraded version of TLX 2.4 engine.

In spec, u can see the current ILX engine has torque of 170, but the new one has 180. And the former achieves 201hp at 7000 rpm but new one only need 6800 rpm to get that number.

Yep. More specifics: The old engine was called "K24Z7," specifically found in the ILX 2.4 and 2012+ Civic Si. The new engine is called "K24W7," found in the TLX and '16 ILX. The new engine has an ever so slightly higher compression ratio, and displaces 2cc more than the old engine (2354cc vs 2356).

Hey Tyson, you said the blue ILX was the A-Spec model. So the directional wheels are the standard ones on A-Spec. The silver car has option wheels, did they show the 'stock' rims for non-A-Spec models?

Verdict....Hummm, I am 90% sure I'll pass and get the IS but there is enough visual seperation to get one of my own but not sure if I can get past the "no body kit" part and that rear fascia just is plain horrible in my eyes.

Wait for the accessory catalog to come out, there just might be a kit offered as a dealer add-on like the TLX.

My main pet peeve is the Tech console looks aftermarket compared to the current one

Great question, and I asked the exact same thing of an Acura PR person. They did not show us what the 'standard' ILX 17" wheels will look like. We only saw the A-Spec 18's (which are directional, and I don't really love), and the "Accessory" 18's (which I can potentially see myself upgrading to).

You are right about that. The colors and finish don't match up well. It's like they took the same unit from the TLX and inserted it for the ILX.

That's low on everything I think. With all the added equipment I think prices will go up $4-500.

I think your Aspec and Acurawatch prices are about right.

I'm also expecting the TLX base price to jump to $31,500 or so for MY2016 but that's just a git feeling.

That's what I don't understand. The 2.4L ILX is right at where the 2.4L TLX will be or can get had for. Very close at least. I just don't see why you wouldn't jump up
