The ILX with the 2.4L and 8-Spd DCT does VERY well on open road. I've had about 5 previous 2013-2015 models with the 2.0L and always struggled to get decent mileage since the 5-spd always kept the older engine revving to the limit when cruising.

The new car with the beast of a powertrain combo and light weight sips gas and moves strong, especially on the open highway. After 5000 miles I average 28-30 daily, and if just a highway trip easily get 35-39 without trying.

Great combo in a small car, with juice to move.

Definitely does better than my previous TLX 2.4L/8-spd as well, which goes to show you how much weight is a factor. The lightweight ILX doesn't require nearly as much effort to push around, as the heavier TLX.

It's a really enjoyable powertrain configuration, strong grunt and great mileage now in the ILX.

ILX 2016 gas mileage

Hi:

I have a new Slate Silver Metallic 2016 ILX Tech Plus A-Spec

...only ~1300 km......Yesterday I drove about 115km on highway only...... AND...my display showed: 5.7 litres / 100 km !! ( Not in Sport mode ) .

...Luv the car....( coming from a 2005 TL )

...The highlight is that great engine / transmission combo.

I have done very little driving in Sport mode, using the paddles...and have not gone over about 4500 rpm.

I hear that it is best to not " let'er rip " to redline, much before about 3,500-4,000 km.

What do you folks say about that ?

The only thing difficult to overcome...is to not get too wound up looking at the displays and all the AcuraWatch features, when on the road ...lol

Thx !

Chuck.

I wonder what it would be like if we swapped out the Final Drive in the ILX with the shorter one found in the TLX.

It would greatly speed up the 1st-3rd gear acceleration while still keeping economy good considering how damn tall the 8th gear in the stack is.

That would be a real killer setup and would easily make up for any 0-60 time loss compared to the previous 2.4L or Si counterparts.
