2016 ILX hitting dealers Feb. 10

Title says it all, and haven't seen this mentioned so here's the story on edmunds:

2016 Acura ILX Arrives at Dealerships on February 10 | Edmunds.com

(I think the blue car pictured is hotness, BTW, apart from the wheels.)

^^ I agree. I reserve judgement until I see them in the flesh but I agree....It appears Acura and Honda are not able to come up with decent wheel designs as of late....

Yup I thought the same, when I first saw the Civic Si wheels. Then I went, test drove, and saw in person, and barfed in my mouth.

Hmm...this has me wondering whether the 2016 ILX will make it to the Philly Auto Show later this week. It's been in production for a little while and Philly metro is a big market for Acura, so it should be there.

I would not categorize myself in that group...I love the 4G and the wheels when they came out. In fact, I get bored of designs really quick so I like newer and different stuff. I just feel that Honda/Acura is having problems in its wheel department. I look at the Lexus IS350 F sport's wheels and they are gorgeous, the BMW 235I wheel, again gorgeous, the Q50S RWD, not gorgeous but pretty...

I will say again, I will reserve final judgement until I see them in the flesh as the TLX's I4 wheels aren't as bad in person as they are in the photos....

A guy on this forum put the TLX/MDX jewel lights in his 3G TL.

So anything is possible with $$

EE4Life put up the TQI for 2016 which shows trim differences from the line up:

Very strange set up. AcuraWatch only available on BASE (TECH is essentially AcuraWatch plus Acuralink for the PREM trim). ASPEC only on PREM/TECH. Looks like it has moved to the integrated remote start remote (pre-wired on PREM and above, but not factory installed). Spare tire now an accessory. XM radio still PREM only. BASE gets the old infotainment screen. Also, noise reducing wheels a la RL/RLX

The camera for all the safety tech will be integrated into the rear mirror rather than a separate unit on TLX.

Another very strange thing, AcuraWatch does not come with BLIS/CrossTraffic, so many people will be confused by that!

I am mourning the loss of Acuras with one trim level (e.g. RL) or two trim levels (e.g. TSX, Base or Tech/Nav).

This is getting complicated!

I think the way to interpret this is that as you move to the right, you're adding to what came before. Thus, base ILX > ILX with AcuraWatch. Moving to the Premium now includes AcuraWatch as standard but adds Blindspot and CrossTraffic which use the same sensors.

What I find odd is that the Tech makes no mention of Navigation unless it's now called AcuraLink? Also, where was it noted that cameras are now in the rear view mirror (looking for original post)?

I think TECH certainly includes navi as there is a TQI for it. The original table says this is a list of new features and integrated navi is technically an old feature (the iphone navi on the premium model is new though)

I'm sure it includes it, just commenting that they didn't mention it specifically.

I don't know. The Tech trim says: "adds to premium" and it has all the Acurawatch stuff listed. I think the Premium trim just has BLIS and rear cross traffic.

What's weird though is that the original press release specifically says, multiple times, that all models can be equipped with Acura Watch - but from how I read this that isn't the case with the Premium Trim being left out. And if that's true then that's a) stupid as the Premium trim seems like it will be popular and b) misleading with the language from the original presser.

It also seems dumb that they would offer an "Acura Watch" trim but not have freaking blind spot indication included - it's like the most basic safety add-on and I'm guessing it's the most wanted.

I'm (99%) sure we're interpreting it wrong. I'm quite sure that Premium and Tech include AcuraWatch but it's an option on the base model. Also "can be" is just that, the ILX can be equipped with Acurawatch on every trim if this is the case. IMO, this is consistent with the earlier press release.

I agree that the exclusion of BSI is odd, but I think that those two sensors are pretty pricy. Edited to add: also remember that this is not supposed to be customer facing. EE is posting (somewhat) confidential technical bulletins. I'm pretty sure there is a notice that we're not supposed to post these.

You're probably right Colin. The language of the press release combined with this document is just a bit confusing.

I would add that we see no evidence that cars will be on the lot anytime near 2/10. Our location could add a week, but I'm still thinking end of Feb.

Nope, didn't make it. I was there today, and Acura has a strangely large and a bit sparse area there... They have at least 3 of each model (save the RLX).

And just to add to your point, I saw 3 ILXs (plus my own, so 4) in a 30 minute drive there. Considering they sell less than 20k a year, that's a lot.

Definitely see your point, but I think it's a good thing that there are lots of trim levels. Obviously, BMW, Mercedes and Lexus all are more successful than Acura right how, and they've all got very complicated lineups. Plus, this will bring the ILX more into a luxury vehicle spot. Right now, the trim levels cannot match that of an A3 or CLA. But with all these new packages, they'll be able to hit the cheap end, the higher end, the sportier end and everything in between, rather than before where it was basically either cheap and sparse, too expensive and loaded or one level in between. If you're paying for a luxury car, you want luxury car choice.

Bummer. I probably won't get to the show until Thursday, so maybe the "sparse area" will be filled with a new ILX by then. I can't fathom why it would be difficult for them to get the new model there, but I'm not surprised given previous AWOL models at the Philly show.

And as you saw, the ILX is fairly popular here. I see lots of them in Center City, which makes sense because a compact car is such an advantage. In this environment, I'd like something smaller than my TSX.

I'm sure they do, but I haven't seen it. No idea on the body kit, I"m guessing that (if offered) it would be the A-Spec parts.

The MDX build and price is up, but it does not include BLIS/Cross Traffic on the Base model with AcuraWatch. Not sure if the ILX will be the same, but probably.

Cross Traffic will remain a higher trim level feature, on Premium and Tech.

Here's a chart if it helps, to give the trim level/feature breakdown.

The accessories get a lot added.

Keyless remotes are now like the MDX, as is the accessory Integrated Remote Start giving you new fobs all in one.

Also available are Backup Sensors, Body Kit, LED Foglights, Chrome Side Door Trim (lower as on the TLX), Chrome Mirror Caps, etc. The chrome sounds odd but depending on color can really dress the richer looking 2016 ILX up even further.

Looks good, as do new colors such as the bright blue, Slate Silver, Graphite Luster, etc. and new interior colors including Gravestone, or the Ebony leather/suede on A-Spec cars.

I've seen many a feature walk and this only barely helps LOL. Generally as you move to the left, you're adding content and replacing what came before if applicable.

I'm assuming that the Premium (between the blue 'ILX' and green 'Premium' dots) is adding to the ILX AcuraWatch Plus content. This assumes that you're getting CMBS and Adaptive Cruise from AW+. Why then do they list these features again in the Tech Plus box? Shouldn't we assume they're already a part of the car since it 'adds or replaces' things in the Premium (which added to AW+)?

If so, the only things in the Tech that are unique are ELS, embedded Navi, and AcuraLink.

I think you have to follow the angled line upwards and to the right.

See how the Base+Acura Watch is separate from that line? I don't think the Premium Trim has the Acura Watch suite of features.

Although - the Tech trim on the current ILX doesn't really offer that much over the Premium OTHER than NAVI, Acuralink and ELS.

I will say that the standard equipment levels have really gone up.

Maybe the Acura Watch package will be a dealer installed option for the Premium trim? Is that even possible?

That wouldn't jibe with the original press release that all models have it available. Such a matrix would mean that the Premium + A-Spec also doesn't have AW. IMO, there is no way they'd have that installed at the dealer level. Seems like too much liability to me.
