Thanks to everyone who posted on the thread regarding the LED light modifications (foot-well, overhead dome, license plate, etc.)
Was wondering if anyone has figured out a way to mod the foot-well lighting so that it stays on at all times. I'm replacing mine with red colored LEDs to match the red dash lighting of the A-spec models and would like them to stay on at all times for some added ambient lighting. The red colors in the dash along with changing the NAV system color to red creates a very nice consistent look-n-feel throughout the cockpit. The foot-well lighting would add the finishing touch.
Unfortunately yes. As soon as the engine is on, and the door closes, they fade to off. There is no way to change their configuration to provide "ambient" cabin lighting at all times. Also keep in mind this is just a replacement of the existing foot-well halogen bulbs with red LEDs. It's not a 3rd party add-on that's tapping into the electrical system.
That said, what would have been nice is the option in "vehicle settings" to set a "ambient level" for high, mid, low, or off when the door closes. The code or logic appears to be there to tell them to turn on/off when the door closes/open. So it should not have been that hard for them to add the additional settings. Seems more like the product team or product manager just didnt think of it. But I could be wrong. Could just be a limitation in the logic systems being used.

Just pop your head under the steering wheel all the way to the brake pedal and you'll see the small casing that contains the light like in the pic above.
You can pop the casing out of the mount, remove the actual fixture from the casing and replace the bulb. The passenger side is similar, but you first have to remove a plastic cover that hides all the wiring. It's not hard to pull off, you just tug on it and it will snap off, exposing the insides and you'll see the exact same light casing as on the driver side.
Note that I had to leave the bulb outside of the casing cause it blocks too much of the light from the LED if you reassemble the entire thing.

It's just like any standard T5 light used on Christmas trees, etc. I bought a pack of (4) on Amazon for $6. Just do a search for these:

Rear dome lights are replaceable. It's the front dome lights that are soldered to a PCB board.
The rear dome uses the same bulb type as the license plate lights, just go for a slightly warmer color to match the front dome lights (4k instead of 6k). There is another thread with more details.
Not sure. Assuming the 2014 has foot-well lighting, I'd guess it's probably the same. Can't see them having made a major change to something that small. If anything, the location and/or housing of the fixture may be located slightly different.
I'd just try peeking your head under the driver side dash and see what it looks like.

So I have a cousin that likes to draw on auto cadd and on catia. He will be re-creating the cover casing so I can do a 3D print of it in a Clear plastic so more lighting can come through and keep it clean without having lighting expose or being bump into. If you all are interested, I can email you the print so you may get it down for yourself. LMK.

Another possible solution is getting an omni-directional T5 RED LED. Like this one:
The problem with the one I used originally is it's uni-directional. Once it's positioned back in the case, the SMD emitter points directly against the backing of the casing, resulting in most of the light being blocked. This omni-directional LED above should emit light in all directions, My guess is it'll work a lot better with the original casing.

So I am going to have my cousin re-locate the socket from the side of the casing to point straight down. which will be pointing to the floor and room for the socket 74 bulb to fit right into the casing.

Was he also planning on doing a redesign of the actual case/housing to allow the light fixture to mount in from top-to-bottom versus sideways?
We looked into it, and there is no way to redesign that portion. The metal hooks are in the way. So that was a no go. But I think once i get this printed in a clear plastic, it will have enough lighting to come through. :/
