2013 ILX 6MT Accident & Restoration Pics

Hi All, you may remember me, I have had my ILX since June 2012 when it had 16 miles on it. Now it has 194,000. Still runs like a champ.

In late Feb I had a fender bender and I got the car back last week. Body shop was kind enough to take progress pics along the way. It was only a fender, bumper, and headlight but still ended up being over $9,000 in damage if you can believe it. Here is the blog entry.

Glad you have it back and that you are happy with the repair.

My car was hit in a hit and run not long ago. Same damage location but far less. Bumper is still fully intake and no denting anywhere. The headlight cover is intact and seems to be sealed still but it did flex which was enough to break some of the inner housing. Bumper itself is scuffed but just paint and light surface damage.

I used the all state app to report it. Got low balled as I assumed but I just need to pay my deductible and they get the rest. The inspector after viewing the pics so not removing the bumper or anything said repairs would be under a grand. They sent me the remainder after the $500. The shop I found to do it guarateed the repairs would cost more and told me when I have time to go without a car for 3 days they'll handle it. They want me to have an inspector come out to check out everything after they remove the bumper so they get a real estimate. Then from there should be a two day fix just replacing the headlight then sand down the paint on a 3rd of the bumper and maybe the fender as well to blend it.

Ive just been lazy and not wanting to hassle with a rental car or being carless.

Damn that's a legit garage. Tons of space, two garage doors, 4 sweet rides. I'm impressed.

Haha thanks. I just moved to the house last August. It has a 6 car garage on one side and a 1 car garage on the other. They're all full.

I don't blame you for holding off on getting your ILX repaired as long as it's just a cosmetic issue. I couldn't believe mine took 6 weeks to put back on the road. Ten days of that was just my insurance going back & forth with the body shop on the estimate.

Yes absolutely. It's as good as ever. I did have to have the starter replaced around 195,000 but I've been road tripping it plenty.

Big 200,000 coming up soon.

Is your garage square footage bigger than the actual house? :-)

Actually, yes. Which is exactly why I bought it. Haha. The house is a modest 1949 build with 4 small bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.

Uuuugh. Your comment on waiting 10 days just for language to go back and forth is obnoxious. I cant go 10 days without a car and I dont want to go out of pocket on a rental. The shop is definitely going to have to argue with my insurance as insurance claims is a 800 dollar fix. Headlight alone is half that and while I'm sure there is no damage under the cover i doubt 400 maybe only 300 will pay for the bumper respray. I could be wrong though.

It rained again just the other day so safe waiting another week or so imo.

"Loss of use" coverage is pretty cheap to add to a policy, so you might consider that. In all my body work (due to fender benders not my fault) I was always immediately put into a rental car that is commensurate in rank to my current car. So I always got a full size sedan or SUV. Last time I got an X3. I had a fender bender that was a minor scratch on the rear bumper and to repaint that cost almost $2k.
