'19 ILX Rough Ride?
My wife got a '19 ILX w/ premium package on last Sunday. She says the ride is kinda rough (her previous car was a Lexus ES350). So I test drove car this morning and felt that the ride was rougher than that of the Lexus. The ride isn't terribly rough, but it's not smooth, either. I wonder if the ILX's (or Acura in general) ride is relatively rough, or if this particular car's ride is rough.

An ES350 will definitely ride better than an ILX. Its a big bodied Lexus built for comfort. The ILX is alot smaller and sportier. The wheelbase (the distance between the front and rear wheels) is alot shorter on the ILX. The shorter the wheelbase = the harsher the ride. Acuras have always been more sport minded than Lexus in general. That means that the suspensions are typically tuned to be firmer. Same with parent companies Honda and Toyota. Acura's TLX would ride closer to that of a ES350.

Sounds normal to me.

Sounds fine to me. But the ILX & the ES are two totally different cars.
I think ANYTHING compared to the Lexus ES would be a rough ride lol |

Did you happen to check the tire pressures on the car? Sometimes the dealer will overfill the tires, which could affect ride quality.

I also recently bought 2019 ILX and noticed the same. Driving on a smooth road with minor potholes is fine. But when I drive over slightly bigger pothole, the handling is hard and loud. Even I'm wondering if this is normal for ILX?

Yes, make sure PSI is to spec, which is listed on the door jamb. But in general, the ES350 is a very soft riding car and the ILX is more tight. Should have been obvious in a test drive.

The PSI was 40! I lowered it to the recommended values. Anyways, my wife says it’s more fun to drive the ILX than the Lexus, so everything’s fine! |

Are you driving an A-spec model? |

Yes. Aspec with premium package.

It is a sporty model. They have two stage shocks that the first 1/4 inch, iirc, is soft, then firms up.
The ILX would be happier on a track than off road. |
Thanks!!
