Cool """"""Chroming Project"""""""

Hi guys!!

I buyed a little bottle of Blue Magic in my Autozone to polish my dimmed exhaust tips and Holly!! they become Chrome as hell i didnt know they were actually Chrome? or they where Stainless Steel color? anyways they became glorious!

Then when i saw all the magic in the works i whent and pop the hood and started to polish anything that would seem to look OK chrome. my most satisfying was:

1.-The OEM Tie bar from the Type-S hell it become Black Chrome and shines like hell i tought i would tear up the paint but nah the steel is actually black and so it got Black Chromed. (Im Stunned of how it looks actually)

2.-The Engine Breather Tube the little one that goes back to the Throttle tube?. became pure Silver Chrome Awesomeness
this little guy was actually painted black. so the painting fell off

3.-Also i did the Gas tube lol the little steel tube behind the gas cap. also become Chrome Awesomeness (useless i know but the dude in the gas station like it!! he didnt expect chrome behind the plastic cap)

4.-All of the PS pump is Gold anodized Metal so in Chrome looks awesome Gold Chrome. P.S. Pulley also gold Chrome!

The changes are very subtle and the breather tube is the most show off here. the P.S. pump is covered by the plastic cover of the engine, so the OEM Tie End gets visually stunning too

Now that im all fired up. i whant some suggestions Im planning on do the WHOLE Intake Manifold!! lol well the parts that my buffer can reach that is most of it. how do you think it will look all chromed?? except for the top cover only the sides and near the throttle? of course the idea is to get rid of the black plastic cover and leave the awesomeness showd up! and leave the Top cover the same color of my car (WDP) in any situation i can pop the plastic cover and leave no trace behind what you think? **There´s a Poll Feel Free to Vote**

My main concern is that chrome gets easily dimmed with wind and elements and such so being in the engine bay with the radiator blowing when it does, it will get down to polish it every 2-3 months. so it will be a hassle that werent there in the first place. so its a trade-off

If you like it i will do the whole DIY process for it, since theres none nor even speak of Chrome DIY anything in AZ.com hahaha i think not many people like chrome but in a way i dont like painting plastic covers either. i will happily show you guys how to do it, and how it looks when done.

Chroming is an actual PLATING process. What you're doing is polishing.

Define chrome? What you are doing is polishing the metal. And be warned, it will start to corrode if not protected. Hence the reason why the manufacturer paints metal surfaces.

1.-The OEM Tie bar from the Type-S hell it become Black Chrome and shines like hell i tought i would tear up the paint but nah the steel is actually black and so it got Black Chromed. (Im Stunned of how it looks actually)
Are you talking about the upper strut bar? That's a powdercoated finish. If you stripped the finish off it it's raw steel. It's a bitch to remove (need to use a stripper or brake cleaner).

...the P.S. pump is covered by the plastic cover of the engine, so the OEM Tie End gets visually stunning too
Huh? The power steering pump is on the left side of the engine bay and is covered by the fluid resevoir.

Im planning on do the WHOLE Intake Manifold!! lol well the parts that my buffer can reach that is most of it. how do you think it will look all chromed??
A buffer will not make that surface shine. You'll need some sort of metal abrasive wheel and a heavy duty metal polishing compound. BM will not give you the results you want.

My main concern is that chrome gets easily dimmed with wind and elements and such so being in the engine bay with the radiator blowing when it does, it will get down to polish it every 2-3 months. so it will be a hassle that werent there in the first place. so its a trade-off
Again, this is not chrome. Chrome is an applied finish. You are talking about polishing metal and again, using the product you described will not produce a polished finish.

depends on the metal steel yes just about evrything else no you don't need anything on it, might have to clean and polish it once in a while. Typically coatings, ie. paint, anodizing and powder coating are for looks not protection from corrosion unless used in extreme enviroments where it needs extra protection for longivity.

and chrome is not applied it is transfer or deposted by electrolocies(sp), metal is placed in a series of plating tanks contain a different chemical for each tank and electrical current is ran through the part to atract the proper minerals to bond with the base metal and then it's polished to a bright luster.

1.-Yeah yeah i sorry i used the wrong "therm" im actually talking about Chrome Finish since YEAH i now how chrome gets done i was writing that post a little bit late!.
But please if you actually havent done it, dont speak too early. this is a page when you can see the product http://www.amazon.com/BlueMagic-400-.../dp/B000BO8Z9I the thing is that actual raw metal gets super super polished that looks kinda chromed.

2.- im talking about the Type-S upper tie bar a single black bar that goes and connects the two struts and again i dont now why you think a polisher will take the paint off. its ment to be used to polish aluminium and chrome wheels i have buffered now 6 times and the thing remains BLACK but supper supper "shiny"

3.- Have you actually seen a TL Engine bay? our PS pump doesnt have a reservoir on top of it, its separated and located on the far left behind the Cruise control module the PS its a simple metal pump and cannot be seen easily without taking out the Black plastic cover of the engine

4.- Again i dont now how you polish things but i havent seen 1 single thread saying that you need an abrasive metal since the BlueMagic stuff is abrasive by itself its like the Meguiars stuff PlasticX? for headlights. i used the same buffer that came with the kit for Headlights restoring and my pipes are just Polished? again OK looke hella "LIKE" chrome finish. besides

5.- i seriously need to take a pictures for you since the product is ment to restore CHROME WHEELS and ALUMINIUM wheels back to frabric shine. i dont know why doesnt do a chrome "finish" again i used the wrong therm it isnt Chroming itself more like doing a chrome finish on metals i will take pictures from my pipes today to end the discussion

so for OP, what is the color of your car first of all, cause that kinda decides what will look good on your car shiny and such

imo.... all it is is metal polish.. lol

for better results on the manifold... sand it down smooth. Then use the metal polish on it.

If you want it to actually look good take the time to take things off, sand them (i like to wetsand them 220-400-600-1000 with the polish as the lubricant as i get finer, then use the buffer and the polish to make it shine.

Seriously dude, do you even know the diference between chrome and a polished finish?

Did you know that the top of the intake manifold is powdercoated? I know because I stripped mine and "polished it" with an abrasive and a polishing wheel.

Everything you've shown us is simply polished metal. Our exhaust tips are not chromed, they are polished aluminum, same with the gas tank filler neck.

Oh and no I have no idea what the inside of an engine bay looks like. I did all of my mods in my trunk.

The fact that he uses Armor All and the phrase "Chrome Awesomeness" says it all about him. And instead of chroming the breather tube, which becomes useless if you get a CAI, get an actual chrome intake. Now.. thats Chrome Awesomeness.

And like i said many many comments ago i now that it isnt actual chrome dudes, its polished metal i was just wanting some comments over the actual stuff not bashing

And for NSXNEXT lovers:
Well fuck it if you are going to lick someone ass just becouse he did the all-kinds-of shit in his TL but not recognize that he actually say a dumb thing i think this Forum is pretty fuckd up heck, im actually getting some ACTUAL responses instead of crap-comments over the Honda forum. well thats me to think that some people had something better to do than thrash others.

then ill now what to do next, im going to look other ones threads and just mindlesly bash them just cuz they asked something naive.

And NSXNEXT: please erase this thread if your a mod you can do it right? and please ban my account i will never post any shit again in here.

to jjashaa:Well the polish stuff came really really before my shocks were done, and i have been looking for them for a long time, but my near Kragen and Autozone dont sell them.
