@ 44.1kHz the sampling is just at the bare minimum to reproduce it. If you got to say 10x that so 200kHz the signal is captured almost perfectly (within limits of the ADC). Even at 5x the improvement is very noticable when compares to 2.2x that CDs are. There are many debates about what the human can really hear and what effects the upper harmonics have on the perception of sound.

I've searched this thread and some slight mention, but didn't see a definite answer here or in the manual. With a DVD-Audio disc is there a way in the TL to select the 2-channel layer instead of the multi-channel layer? I couldn't locate a setting that would let me listen to the 192/24 instead. Thanks in advance.

The one disc I have (Sinatra At The Sands) has 192/24 Advanced Res Stereo and can be accessed by the menu. Unfortunately, there is no way you can access the menu through the ELS. Or try changing groups by holding the scan and repeat buttons simultaneously till you get a beep. If should change to group 2 and that maybe the 2 channel layer. I'm shootin in the dark here.

Well the one disc I have is the Seal Best of 1991-2004 which has DVD-Audio 5.1 plus 5.1 for Acoustic tracks. Gotta figure out how to access these additional tracks.

DVD Concerts--Converting audio to playable format for TL
Any new ideas on how to convert my legit DVD collection into playable stereo files that can be read by the TL drive? I won't cry about losing the 5.1 on the originals that have it if the quality is still decent. To boot, it would be cool to get these DVD songs onto my Ipod.

I'm a new TL owner, and I learned the hard way that the John Mayer Heavier Things DualDisc I bought won't play in my TL (not the DVD side, anyway).
Does this mean that pretty much any Sony DualDisc will not be compatible with DVD-A? At this point, I'm assuming that unless I see "DVD-Audio" somewhere on the CD cover, it won't play in my system. This sort of sucks, because there are a lot of titles I'm interested in that come in DualDisc format.

CD or XM
Question I did not find covered in this thread. Does the TL audio system simulate 5.1 or surround sound when playing a CD or XM as a home theatre system could, or does it only play them in conventional 2 channel stereo?
