the 74's are for the light outside of the cluster, you don't need them

Has anyone that has done this removed the green film with any success and if so what was your method?

In the OP I don't see any mention of removing the green film but the results look great.

Did you try the dimmer? should just be 194/168 wedge bulbs, I used 5 LED wide angle led bulbs

The bulbs are polarized and only come on plugged in one way, did you make sure that all of your bulbs are plugged in the right way and lighting?

I pulled mine out and took off the blue coating on the bulbs and put it back together, made it alot brighter but too green for my liking, so I'm looking to do the led swap now.

Would 4-led bulbs be about the right brightness or should I do 6? I don't want it to be too overpowering

I read that, but you didn't post a pic of the end result. I don't have leds in my climate control so I don't want to have to dim down the gauges and therefore have really dim climate control, mainly lookin for the right led's to be able to run at full brightness and not be too much. Maybe I should even do 2-led bulbs? Trial and error I guess...

Is this by any chance similar to the one u used???
Since there are no indicator of which side to plug in...how u know if u plugged in the correct side since u said its polarized bulb...I dont want to keep pulling it in and out since putting back the dimmer tab was a pain in the ass...
Thanks for the help

Did this mod all in all took me like 3 hours to do, i love the outcome well worth it. Only issue i have now is that my left turn signal, and my SRS are always showing dimly, and i have a CEL. My fuel gauge is resting at above 100% when i really only have like 68% :p 4-6rpm are dim, 60-80 mph are dim, im going to need to remove it all again... reclean the green gunk... and hope it works. Any tips?

two screws on the top of the instrument gauge in the picture right after step 4 will not come out. They turn and turn and turn but nothing happens to them they don't loosen or anything. Also dimmer switch to right of steering wheel will not pull out all the way, it will come out like an inch and a half and then the cord wont let it come out far enough to disconnect it. Project was a major flop and a waste of my time.

Got the dimming switch out finally, but those two screws at the roof of the instrument panel after step 4 just will not come out. I tried prying from under them while screwing but they just will not loosen at all. Maybe they are stripped completely? But they are still fairly hard to turn. I just keep turning with no progress on loosening them. Any suggestions? Did anyone else have problems with this?

You don't remove the needles

The green film is on the inside of the numbers

I would buy another gauge cluster from ebay

Been trying for 3 days to remove those screws. Not happening. Tomorrow I put things back together and give up, I'm sick of driving at night without seeing how fast I am going and no cruise control.

so i did this to my gauges and heater controls. a few issues though, the 2 #74 above i havent replaced yet. what color should i do? i was concerned that if it was white it would be too brite and if it was blue i wouldnt be able to see it. also did you guys just use the factory base with new wedges?

as far as the cruise and dimmer can someone post a link on how to do it? the one i found wasnt working.

one more thing how many #74s are there in the shifter?
