Lexus: ES News

These are the pics of the facelifted Toyota Windom which is sold in Japan. Could this be the new ES330?

Looks about the same to me, but I never really noticed the older version much at all. Definitely looks like a boat. That car excites me about as much as going to the dentist

ES330 is definitely for those who wants quiet and reliable luxury car. i love its interior, leather, and the world leading quietness. ES330 is so quiet, no other competitor comes close.

http://images.andale.com/f2/123/123/...w_94_95_Accord

Its the same thing, except with new tails and projectors...I think Lexus is going with projectors in all of their cars...I think all of the cards have it, except the GS...with the next gen does...

YUP!!

I realize that Toyota sought to distinguish the ES from its Camry sibling but, this experiment has gone HORRIBLY awry. $.02

Ditto... my thoughts exactly. I don't like the current exterior and I don't like this revision. Just a slightly more quiet, better appointed Camry (not that the Camry's a bad car).

You wont see that for a long time for this vehicle. It just got a boost with the 3.3 liter V6. That's it for another 4 years since it got that engine.

Just wonder what's on Toyota's mind. Most competitors, such as J35, G35, TL, are having around 260-270 hps. Even the upcoming 3.2L-V6 from Volks/Audi is rumoured to have 255 hps.

Do people really prefer luxury over performance ? If it is the case, why would Lexus put a V6, not an inline-4, into the IS300 ?

Yes, in the market of this car people prefer luxury over peroformance. Want performance u buy the IS300 or GS! That's y the ES is FWD and the others are not. Different people buy these cars

When I go to Charleston, it's the car of choice there. It replaced many a Caddy. Luxurious and soft.
I would know.

What a coincidence. I go there for vacation all the time, I love it, quiet and scenic.

Like Zoot mentioned, the cars are targeting completely different markets. The IS is a sports sedan, while the ES probaly targets older people that want more luxury and comfort and are not necessarily interested in performance, hence the boring design.

I always thought if people prefer luxury over performance, then they would buy the GS300/330 which is luxury, huge, and slow.

The ES300 used to be the best selling entry-level luxury car before the 2nd gen. TL started to appear. Now that the TL has taken the ES300/330's throne, and the G35 has received lots of spotlights. But the ES330 doesn't seem to receive much attention despite complete facelift and weak engine upgrade. I don't know if this tells something.

I dont think we'll see a GS330. Remember, the engine in the GS300 is an inline engine (cousin of the Supra engine). The 3.3 liter engine in the RX/ES is a V-config. engine.

the GS is SUPPOSED to be sportier... And many of the old people prefer fwd which makes the ES better. All of the "snow birds" (old people who go back and forth between Florida and the north) like FWD for its practicality

No wonder Honda keeps delaying the redesign of the aging and underpowered fwd RL. I guess that is a market for it afterall.

The GS is not huge. It's shorter than a CL-S. Hell shorter than the new Altima, Maxima, 5, E, A6 and all cars in it's class.

ES 330 doesn't get attention as magazines are geared towards sports and sporty cars. The ES 330 doesn't need it anyway.

Seems all Lexi are moving to projector lamps. I never was big on ES 330 styling on the outside. The interior is plain ol

Are the dimensions of the next gen GS going to change? It looks longer than the current gen GS..
