Dodge: Ram News

If it's worth doing, it's sometimes worth overdoing. So only Dodge could create the boldest, baddest and fastest full-size pickup ever, the Viper-powered 2004 Dodge Ram SRT-10. Taking its rightful place as the ultimate performance pickup, the 2004 Dodge Ram SRT-10 brings a massive dose of Viper power to the performance pickup segment, with a class-demolishing 500 horsepower and 525 lb.-ft. of torque. Topping 150 mph in maximum speed and reaching 60 mph in approximately five seconds, Dodge has recalibrated all expectations for truck performance.

"The Dodge Ram SRT-10 may be the first halo truck, but trust me, this truck is no angel," said Wolfgang Bernhard, Chief Operating Officer, Chrysler Group. "The Ram SRT-10 is true to the performance ideals that created the original Dodge Viper: keep it simple and make it fast."

"There is no replacement for displacement," added Bernhard. "The Ram SRT-10 delivers its astounding performance in a way that only Viper owners will recognize, with an endless rush of torque."

The 500 Club

The numbers don't lie: the Dodge Ram SRT-10 is the most outrageous pickup ever. With 500 horsepower, 525 lb.-ft. of torque, 505 cubic inches and a 500-watt, ear-melting sound system, Dodge dominates in every category. Simply put, the 2004 Dodge Ram SRT-10 is the new performance truck icon.

The Ram SRT-10's mayhem-making ability is delivered courtesy of the highest displacement engine in a factory pickup truck-the same 8.3-liter V-10 that powers America's ultimate sports car, the all-new 2003 Dodge Viper. The V-10's horsepower rating easily surpasses all other pickups - not to mention virtually every production sports car in the world.

"We set out to create the Viper of trucks and we delivered," said Jim Schroer, Executive Vice President - Global Sales and Marketing. "This is a unique truck - a low volume, over-the-top collectible that remakes the entire segment. In the performance truck segment, the Ram SRT-10 simply dominates the road - and proves once again that Dodge DNA runs true and deep."

The 2004 Dodge Ram SRT-10; Truck Power Personified

The boldest and baddest pickup on the planet needs looks to match its swagger, and the 2004 Dodge Ram SRT-10 delivers from every angle. Drawing heavily on the Dodge tradition of producing powerful trucks with a strong sense of style, the Ram SRT-10's chiseled features were sculpted courtesy of DaimlerChrysler's new wind tunnel, and with a subtle nod to the Dodge Ram NASCAR truck series entry.

"Our theme was to add muscle where it was needed, not unnecessary adornment," said Trevor M. Creed, Senior Vice President, Design, Chrysler Group. "We spent a lot of time in the wind tunnel with the Ram SRT-10, so that is why you see a deep front fascia with a splitter and a subtle rear wing. In fact, we have managed the aerodynamics of the Ram SRT-10 to give this vehicle performance more befitting a sports car than a truck. The rear wing is not only functional, providing a reduction in lift, but it also provides a reduction in drag, which is a rarity for a wing."

The most noticeable exterior feature of the new 2004 Dodge Ram SRT-10 is a unique hood that features a wide power bulge and scoop sitting atop the signature cross-hair grille. "Viper Powered" badges on either side of the hood scoop leave no doubt as to what resides underneath.

Keeping things simple, the Dodge Ram SRT-10 is available in black, red and silver only. The updated Ram lines of the Ram SRT-10 provide a look of machined elegance with a lower - and even bolder - stance than the standard Ram. The Ram SRT-10 rides on unique 22-inch polished aluminum "Viper-style" wheels, the largest wheels available on production pickup.

The new front fascia, unique hood with integrated air intake, billet grille, lower ride height and ground-effect moldings provide plenty of "hunkered down" attitude even before the red ignition button is punched.

From the side, an aluminum fuel filler, unique SRT-10 badging and red brake calipers visible behind the 22-inch wheels distinguish the Dodge Ram SRT-10. The rear spoiler, custom rear fascia with cutout for dual exhausts and large, center-mounted chrome Ram's head badge provide the view for the majority of the motoring public.

"There is a slightly understated air about the SRT-10, especially considering its performance potential," said Rick Aneiros, Vice President, Truck Design. "But as powerful as the overall theme of the Ram SRT-10 is, we were determined not to make this another boy racer truck. We added functional aero tweaks to deliver a truck that can handle 150 mph-plus speeds. Its true design identity is found in the unique details, such as the red brake calipers visible behind the new 22-inch wheels, the mesh grille covering the air intakes and the lowered stance. The SRT-10 is instantly recognizable as something different from Ram, more powerful but with subtle detailing. It means business."

Inside, heavily bolstered racing-derived leather seats with black suede perforated inserts and a carbon-fiber leather trim steering wheel let drivers know this is no ordinary Ram. The "SRT-10" logo is embroidered on the headrests. Silver trim adorns the center stack and a silver trim strip with an "SRT-10" badge resides on the passenger side air bag. A red Viper start button on the dash provides further evidence that this Ram is something special. A custom "Hurst" shift lever sprouts from a silver metal shift bezel and is topped by a Viper style shift knob. Aluminum performance pedals replace the stock set up.

A new gauge cluster with satin silver-faced gauges feature Viper font and graphics and appropriately recalibrated speedometer and tachometer to accommodate the SRT-10's visceral performance. The best-in-class interior space is maintained from the standard Ram.

"We wanted to capture the feel of a sports car without sacrificing the safety, utility and luxury afforded by the standard Dodge Ram," said Mark Trostle, Design Manager, Truck Exterior and Interior Studios. "The carbon fiber trim on the leather steering wheel, satin silver center console and interior door handles and the unique door trim panels differentiate the SRT-10 from the standard Ram and create an environment that enhances the sport/performance feel of this truck."

Built for Speed; the 2004 Dodge Ram SRT-10 Dominates the Fast Lane

The 2004 Dodge Ram SRT-10 is built for speed. With a top speed of 150 mph and the biggest engine in a performance pickup, the Dodge Ram SRT-10 backs up its claim as the baddest truck on the block.

More than just a big engine, Ram SRT-10 adds the largest standard wheels and tires, the largest brakes in its class and acceleration to match its macho looks. Unique in a world of look-alike trucks, the Ram SRT-10 is a radical, custom-built performance truck, but straight from a manufacturer and with performance cues direct from the Dodge Viper SRT-10, the ultimate sports car.

Absolute Power = Absolute Domination

From the beginning, the engineers at Performance Vehicle Operations knew the powertrain was in place. The 8.3-liter Viper V-10 was upgraded for 2003 with a new bored and stroked aluminum engine block that increased the Viper engine's displacement from 488 to 505 cubic inches, and pushed its V-10 power output to 500 horsepower and 525 lb.-ft. of torque.

Resting on unique engine mounts, the new V-10 engine delivers 90 percent of its whopping 525 lb.-ft. of torque from 1500 to 5600 rpm. The all-new cast aluminum cylinder block has interference-fit cast-iron liners and cross-bolted main caps. Both bore and stroke have been increased over previous Viper models. Block length, block height, bore spacing, firing order, rod length and compression ratio are unchanged.

The Viper V-10 includes a six main bearing crankshaft with increased stroke length and cross-bolted main bearing caps. All-new cast aluminum alloy pistons - weighing slightly less than prior years despite larger diameters - are included, as are all-new cracked-steel connecting rods that are lighter yet stronger.

Cylinder heads on the Viper V-10 are redesigned using semi-permanent mold (SPM) 356 T6 aluminum, with improved intake port, exhaust port and combustion chamber cooling. Lower-profile die-cast magnesium cylinder head covers with steel internal baffles and anti-slosh foam also are new for 2003.

A single-piece, central dual-plenum, cast aluminum intake manifold is also new. It boasts shorter runners and a single, non-staged two-barrel throttle body for higher peak horsepower RPM. The intake manifold is an all-inclusive Integrated Air and Fuel Module (IAFM) with tubular fuel rails, injectors, sensors, wiring and throttle body - delivered assembled and pre-tested.

A Ram Heavy Duty cooling system is modified to handle the needs of the new Viper engine. A custom dual exhaust system is mounted to new exhaust manifolds.

The 2004 Dodge Ram SRT-10 focuses its power through a new Hurst shift linkage and a modified version of the Viper SRT-10's Tremec T56 six-speed manual transmission. The T56 is fully synchronized with electronic reverse lockout. A new driveshaft runs to the Viper-sourced transmission and a modified differential with a 4.10 rear axle delivers the torque to the road.

Suspension

The Ram SRT-10 is more than just a big Viper motor in a bad-ass truck. The engineers at PVO modified the Ram Heavy Duty's rack-and-pinion steering and independent front suspension.

Working with the fully hydroformed Dodge Ram frame, one of the stiffest in the industry, PVO added a custom tuned suspension, dropping the Ram SRT-10 one inch at the front and two inches at the rear. New front and rear strut assemblies and a rear sway bar were added to handle the increased cornering loads.

Next came Bilstein shock absorbers, performance-tuned springs, unique aerodynamic aids to enhance the Ram SRT-10's higher speed performance, and 22-inch custom "Viper-style" wheels and 305/40 Pirelli Scorpion Tires.

Big brakes, another Dodge Ram staple, are also part of the equation on the 2004 Ram SRT-10. The standard ABS-equipped brakes are fitted with new 15-inch rotors on the front brakes. Rear brakes are modified Ram Heavy Duty 14-inch rotors. Front and rear brakes feature unique red calipers. The new front fascia features brake ducts to provide plenty of cooling for track sessions.

Performance Vehicle Operations; the Enthusiast Heart of the Chrysler Group

While Dodge owners have been busy grabbing life by the horns, Chrysler Group executives and engineers have been grabbing life by the throttle with plans for some of the most outrageous production vehicles ever developed.

Officially known as Performance Vehicle Operations (PVO), the engineering team combines Chrysler Group's specialty vehicle and motorsports know-how, much like the profitable high-end vehicle conversion group at Mercedes-AMG.

Dodge SRT models developed by PVO are already on their way to dealerships, beginning with the 2003 Dodge Viper SRT-10, the most outrageous sports car on the market. Following the all-new Viper into the performance lexicon is the Dodge SRT-4, featuring the fastest 0-60 mph performance for less than $20,000. And now comes the most outrageous full-size truck ever, the Dodge Ram SRT-10 with Viper V-10 power.

"No other automaker has leveraged such resources to this extent," said Jim Schroer, Executive Vice President - Global Sales and Marketing. "We are combining our extensive motorsports experience, along with our legendary Viper development team and our Mopar Performance Parts, to create a line of extreme performance vehicles that will blow past everyone else.

"PVO brings together the best performance development processes, durable high-performance parts and some of our most talented and experienced motorsports and performance car engineers to produce truly exciting cars and trucks," added Schroer.

Chrysler Group executives see an opportunity to expand the Chrysler Group's portfolio of specialty vehicles, performance models and performance parts. Performance Vehicle Operations will become a profit center within the Chrysler Group focusing on enhancing Dodge, Jeep® and Chrysler brand product lines and image through high-end, limited-volume specialty vehicles.

PVO performance models engineered for the Dodge brand will carry the SRT badge. Chrysler and Jeep performance lines will be announced in the future.

For Dodge, the SRT model-line philosophy represents a new twist, offering significant performance enhancements and visual appeal. But compared with Dodge's R/T credo of "contemporary interpretations of performance," SRT will come to stand for "ultimate interpretations of performance."

The Dodge SRT performance signature includes high-output engine performance, sport suspensions, fully functional aerodynamic packages, higher performance wheel and tire packages, sporty interiors and performance-oriented exhausts and brake systems.

And Ford thought they won the truck war with their Lightnings.

I don't dig the rear spoiler - but everything else is tight.

So imagine this thing at the lights dusting a WRX and even possibly getting a car's length on an Evo 8. How would the folks in those 2 cars feel?

So many cars can eat dust with this....it is an "ego crusher" I say

Ford’s bold vision for a third-generation SVT F-150 Lightning sport truck emerged from a powerful new-product cloudburst at Detroit’s 2003 North American International Auto Show, highlighted by the unveiling of the all-new 2004 Ford F-150 pickup.

The SVT Lightning Concept proved a surprise reveal during the official launch of the redesigned F-Series – star of Ford Motor Company’s biggest-ever wave of new-product introductions at the dawn of its Centennial year. Thousands of auto writers from around the globe assembled at the NAIAS to witness a “Whole New Era of Built Ford Tough,” in which the revamped full-size F-150 made its world debut with all-new architecture designed for more power, added refinement and unprecedented driving dynamics. But few expected that the Ford Special Vehicle Team would be ready to show off its next-generation Lightning Concept based on the next F-150.

“We are excited about the new F-150, because it will provide an outstanding platform for the next-generation Lightning,” said Tom Scarpello, Ford SVT sales and marketing manager. “The SVT F-150 Lightning Concept hints at what we could do with Lightning and sends a signal that we don’t intend to give up our sport truck dominance.”

The Lightning Concept features an aggressive new look wrapped around a 500-horsepower supercharged 5.4-liter V8, six-speed manual transmission and independent rear suspension. Advances built into the upcoming F-150, together with new SVT powertrain technology and SVT’s own brand of handling-oriented suspension and braking engineering, offer a level of performance aimed squarely at assuring Lightning’s market supremacy well into the future.

Since it was introduced in 1993, the Ford SVT F-150 Lightning has been the undisputed sport truck king, making a name for itself as the “World’s Fastest Production Pickup.” A decade later, as Ford SVT celebrates its 10th anniversary of building factory produced high-performance cars and trucks for the driving enthusiast, competitors are finally bringing Lightning imitators to market. Yet SVT Director John Coletti welcomes the challenge.

“It will be nice to finally have a little cross-town rivalry,” Coletti said. “But we have no intention of being overshadowed on our home turf. The SVT Lightning Concept showcases technology we’re developing to meet the competition head-on.”

For more details about the SVT F-150 Lightning Concept,

pickup truck.com has these srt specs-

Performance (estimated):
0-60 mph 5.2 sec.
0-80 mph 8.4 sec.
Standing ¼ mile 13.8 sec. @106 mph
Top Speed 150 mph

that would have a hard time beating the current 380hp lighting if they turn out to be accurate and the ford is a nice chunk of change cheaper.

i like the concept lightning(next gen) better too, just a mean well proportioned truck, the srt looks oversized up front compared to the rear of the truck.

How much for the SRT-10...or did I just miss the price when I was reading? Also, where is the tralier hitch, its a damn truck people!!! The Lightning (old one, and I hope the new one too) had one. Also, where is the AWD...Chevy did it(SS pickup), and as a result, they can probably expect their truck to sell better in the cold/snowy parts of the US.

Dodge unleashes the fastest and most powerful production pickup ever, the 150 mph Viper-powered 2004 Dodge Ram SRT-10

Posted by: kak on Friday, November 21, 2003 - 06:48 PM CET

Dodge’s Latest Weapon in the War Against Complacency - Loaded With Five Hundred Viper Bullets There are no doubts, no second guesses and no recounts needed, the ultimate performance pickup is here; and it’s a Dodge. The most powerful and fastest production pickup ever, the new 2004 Dodge Ram SRT-10 packs a big Viper punch with a class-demolishing 500 horsepower and 525 lb.-ft. of torque. Topping 150 mph in maximum speed and reaching 60 mph in just over five seconds, Dodge has recalibrated expectations for truck performance.

"With the Ram SRT-10, the PVO team set out to create the fastest, most powerful production pickup ever - the ultimate Dodge Ram," said Wolfgang Bernhard, Chief Operating Officer-Chrysler Group. "The goal at PVO is to out muscle everything in our class through superior engineering and by drawing on our engineers’ vast motorsports experience. That is why this truck can accelerate like a dragster, yet it is not a coarse hot rod."

"The Ram SRT-10 represents a cohesive design that blends brute power with the engineering refinement usually reserved for the world’s best sports cars," Bernhard added. "This is not a bolt-on kit for a Ram. PVO has created a new vehicle that blends a race-inspired interior, functional aerodynamics for high speed driving and a modified suspension to maximize handling without sacrificing ride. The Ram SRT-10 has been refined and perfected into a sports truck that is luxurious, fast and represents the ultimate in its class. No one has ever experienced anything like the Ram SRT-10."

Bigger is Better

The Dodge Ram SRT-10 delivers big numbers at every turn. With 500 horsepower, 525 lb.-ft. of torque, 505 cubic inches and a 505 watt ear-melting sound system, Dodge dominates in every category. The 2004 Dodge Ram SRT-10 is the new performance truck icon.

"Once the idea of putting the 500 horsepower Viper-10 into the Ram was presented, we knew we had to make this truck," said Dan Knott, Director-Performance Vehicle Operations. "We felt we had an obligation to build this truck, to build something truly great. We knew that no other manufacturer could make this happen, only Dodge and PVO."

"But we didn’t just make a boy racer truck with lots of horsepower," Knott added. "We sweat the details - tuned the suspension, re-designed the interior for performance driving, re-worked the aerodynamics and created a new truck, one that delivers a life-altering driving experience. We made this a PVO vehicle with one intention - to be the fastest production pickup ever. It must be driven to be believed."

The Ram SRT-10’s mayhem-making ability is delivered courtesy of the highest displacement engine in a factory pickup truck - the same 8.3-liter aluminium V-10 that powers America’s ultimate sports car, the 2003 Dodge Viper. The V-10’s horsepower rating easily surpasses all other pickups - not to mention virtually every production sports car in the world.

"This truck has a soul and that soul is the Viper V-10," said Darryl Jackson, Vice President-Dodge Marketing. "This is the Viper of trucks, a unique, low-volume, over-the-top collectible that remakes the entire segment. In the performance truck segment, the Ram SRT-10 simply owns the road, and once again proves that the Dodge DNA runs true and deep."

"There is no replacement for displacement," added Bernhard. "The Dodge Ram SRT-10 delivers its astounding performance in a way that only Viper owners will recognize, with an endless rush of torque."

2004 Dodge SRT-10: Fast, Focused and Built for Speed

Wide, chiseled and masculine, the boldest and baddest pickup on the planet looks like it means business, and it does. The Dodge Ram SRT-10 was designed with the Dodge tradition of producing powerful trucks with a strong sense of style. The Dodge Ram SRT-10’s taut features were sculpted courtesy of DaimlerChrysler’s wind tunnel and with a subtle nod to the Dodge Ram NASCAR truck series entry.

"Our theme was to add muscle, not flash," said Trevor M. Creed, Senior Vice President-Design, Chrysler Group. "To cope with the performance of the Ram SRT-10, we spent a lot of time in the Chrysler Group’s wind tunnel. That is why you see a deep front fascia with a splitter and a subtle rear wing. In fact, the lift values for this vehicle are that of a sports car, not a truck.

"The rear wing is one of the most important features of the Dodge Ram SRT-10. It is fully functional, providing a 165 lb. reduction in lift, but it also provides a reduction in drag, which is a rarity for wing. When access to the bed is required, the rear wing is removable and stows on top of the bed rails behind the cab."

Viper Powered

One of the most noticeable exterior features of the new 2004 Dodge Ram SRT-10 is a unique hood that features a wide power bulge and scoop sitting atop the signature cross-hair grille. "Viper Powered" badges on either side of the hood scoop leave no doubt as to what resides underneath.

The updated Ram lines of the Ram SRT-10 provide a look of machined elegance with a lower - and an even bolder - stance than the standard Ram. The Ram SRT-10 rides on unique 22-inch polished aluminum "Viper-style" wheels, the largest wheels available on production pickup.

The new front fascia, unique hood with integrated air intake and billet grille provide a look of serious muscle. A one-inch lower ride height in the front, two-inch lower ride height in the rear and ground-effect moldings provide plenty of "hunkered down" attitude even before the red ignition button is punched.

Aero/Dynamic

"The fact that the Ram SRT-10 bears a close resemblance to our NASCAR Craftsmen truck is not just a coincidence," said Dan Knott, Director-Performance Vehicle Operations (PVO). "The same aerodynamicist who worked on our NASCAR entries handled the aerodynamics for the Ram SRT-10. The challenges posed by racing are the same we experienced with the Ram SRT-10; speeds in excess of 150 mph, cooling for the brakes and engine, and the need to create front and rear downforce."

From the side, unique SRT-10 badging and red brake calipers visible behind the 22-inch wheels distinguish the Dodge Ram SRT-10. The rear spoiler and custom rear fascia with cutout for dual exhausts provide the view for the majority of the motoring public.

"There is a slightly understated, but menacing air about the SRT-10," said Rick Aneiros, Vice President, Jeep/Truck Color and Trim design. "But it’s true identity is found in the unique details, such as the red brake calipers visible behind the new 22-inch wheels, the mesh grille covering the air intakes and the lowered stance. The SRT-10 is instantly recognizable as something different from Ram, more powerful but with subtle detailing. It means business."

Keeping things simple, the Dodge Ram SRT-10 is available in black, red and silver only.

Sport Meets Luxury

Inside, heavily bolstered racing-derived leather seats with suede perforated inserts and a carbon-fiber leather trim steering wheel let drivers know this no ordinary Ram. The "SRT-10" logo is embroidered on the headrests. Silver trim adorns the center stack and a silver trim strip with an "SRT-10" badge resides on the passenger side air bag. A red Viper start button on the dash provides further evidence that this is something special. A custom "Hurst" shift lever sprouts from a silver metal shift bezel and is topped by a Viper shift knob. Aluminum performance pedals replace the stock set up.

A new gauge cluster with satin silver-faced gauges feature Viper font and graphics and appropriately recalibrated speedometer and tachometer to accommodate the SRT-10’s visceral performance. The best-in-class interior space is maintained from the standard Ram.

"We wanted to capture the feel of an upscale sports car without sacrificing the safety, utility and luxury afforded by the standard Dodge Ram," said Mark Trostle, Design Manager- Truck Exterior and Interior Studios. "The carbon fiber-look trim on the leather steering wheel, satin silver center console and interior door handles and the unique door trim panels differentiate the SRT-10 from the standard Ram and create an environment that enhances the sport/performance feel of this truck."

The Dodge Ram SRT-10: Too Much Power is Just Enough

· Born to Dominate the Fast Lane
· A Powerful Pedigree: Viper V-10, Hurst, Bilstein, Pirelli and Dana

It ain't bragging if you can do it. With a maximum speed of 150 mph and the biggest engine in a performance pickup, the Dodge Ram SRT-10 backs up its claim as the baddest truck on the block.

The Ram SRT-10 makes the most of its 500 horsepower Viper engine with a combination of high technology, performance icons and some old-fashioned hot-rodding.

"When it came to creating a 150 mph, PVO-designed Dodge Ram pickup, only the best would do," said Dan Knott, Director-Performance Vehicle Operations (PVO). "We took the best parts available, a Viper V-10, a Dodge Ram 1500 chassis and body, Hurst shift linkage, and a Dana 60 rear axle. Pirelli tires, Bilstein shocks, a custom designed power hop damper and the braking system from the Ram Heavy Duty ensure that we can get the Ram SRT-10 slowed down for the corners."

More than just a big engine, Ram SRT-10 adds the largest standard wheels, tires and brakes offered on a production pickup. Unique in a world of look-alike trucks, the Ram SRT-10 is a radical, custom-built performance truck, straight from a manufacturer. The Dodge Ram SRT-10 blends performance cues direct from the Dodge Viper SRT-10, the ultimate sports car and the baddest pickup on the market, the Dodge Ram.

The Power and the Glory

From the beginning, the engineers at PVO knew that this monster truck was a snake. The 8.3-liter Viper V-10 delivers 500 horsepower and 525 lb.-ft. of torque.

Resting on unique engine mounts; the V-10 engine delivers 90 percent of its whopping 525 lb.-ft. of torque from 1500 to 5600 rpm. The cast aluminum cylinder block has interference-fit cast-iron liners and cross-bolted main caps.

The Ram SRT-10 also features a unique oil pan, throttle linkage, new "Hi-Flow" exhaust manifolds, new transmission mounts and a modified Ram Heavy Duty radiator tailored to fit the between the NASCAR inspired grille baffles.

The rest of the V-10 is straight from the Viper, with a six main bearing crankshaft with cross-bolted main bearing caps. Despite larger diameter aluminum alloy pistons than the previous generation's 8.0-liter Viper engine, the pistons weigh less and are included along with all-new, lighter and stronger cracked-steel connecting rods.

Cylinder heads on the Viper V-10 are semi-permanent mold (SPM) 356 T6 aluminum alloy. Low-profile die-cast magnesium cylinder head covers feature steel internal baffles and anti-slosh foam.

The Viper V-10 boasts a single-piece, central dual-plenum, cast aluminum intake manifold and a single, non-staged two-barrel throttle body for higher peak horsepower RPM. The intake manifold is an all-inclusive Integrated Air and Fuel Module (IAFM) with tubular fuel rails, injectors, sensors, wiring and throttle body. A Ram Heavy Duty cooling system is modified to handle the needs of the new Viper engine. A custom dual exhaust system is mounted to new exhaust manifolds.

The 2004 Dodge Ram SRT-10 focuses its power through a new, purpose built Hurst shifter and a modified version of the Viper SRT-10's Tremec T56 six-speed manual transmission. The T56 is fully synchronized with electronic reverse lockout. A new 4.5-inch aluminium driveshaft runs from the Viper-sourced transmission to a Dana 60 rear axle with a 4.11 ratio to deliver the massive torque to the road.

Asphalt-Searing Performance

Despite rocket-like straight line acceleration, the Ram SRT-10 was also designed to carve corners and challenge the laws of physics. The engineers at PVO modified the rack and pinion steering system from a Dodge Ram Heavy Duty and custom tuned the independent front suspension.

Working with the hydroformed Dodge Ram 1500 frame, one of the stiffest in the industry, PVO dropped the Ram SRT-10 one-inch in the front and 2.5-inches in the rear. New front and rear strut assemblies and a rear sway bar were added to handle the increased cornering loads and virtually eliminate body-roll.

"The Dodge Ram SRT-10 delivers simply phenomenal handling," said Knott. "But without sacrificing ride quality. This is a truck that you can run to the store in, and then start tackling apexes on your favorite set of twisties. And, depending on your right foot, the V-10 can make the straightaways really short."

To make the most of the excellent handling characteristics of the Dodge Ram 1500, the PVO engineers added Bilstein mono-tube shock absorbers, a new front knuckle design and shorter and stiffer performance tuned springs. Next came unique aerodynamic aids to keep the Ram SRT-10 planted at high speeds and 22-inch custom "Viper-style" wheels fitted with 305/40 R22 Pirelli Scorpion tires for extra adhesion. The rear leaf springs were modified and leaf spring snubbers were added for smoother power launches.

Drag Ready

To ensure that the Ram SRT-10 makes the most of its 525 lb.-ft. of torque, PVO designed a unique power hop damper to stop axle hop under full acceleration runs. A Bilstein shock absorber was fitted between the frame and axle, and now clean launches, even on slicks, are just a right foot away.

"The power goes down smooth, even as all hell is braking loose under the hood," added Knott. "This set-up will wrinkle slicks on an ET run just as easily as it ruins the competitions day."

Big brakes, another Dodge Ram staple, are also modified for the 2004 Ram SRT-10. The standard ABS-equipped brakes are fitted with new 15-inch rotors on the front brakes. Rear brakes are modified Ram Heavy Duty with 14-inch rotors. Front and rear brakes feature unique red calipers. The new front fascia features NASCAR-inspired brake cooling ducts to provide plenty of cooling for track sessions.

Dodge Cars and Trucks; "Grab Life" Attitude and "Burn Rubber" Performance

One word says everything you need to know about Dodge: Viper.

Performance, heritage, style, attitude and a passionate car-building philosophy all are manifested in one car.

The Dodge Viper SRT-10 represents the halo for an entire Chrysler Group, for the Dodge brand and for the SRT line in its unabashed outrageousness.

But the Viper’s embodiment of extreme performance is contagious. This means that car and truck buyers will find from their very first test drive that every vehicle in the Dodge lineup exhibits the symptoms of "Fast Lane Fever."

Dodge caught the fever at the race track. Winning cars, winning trucks and winning engines have powered our NASCAR, NHRA, and grassroots drivers to victory circles across America.

Drivers like Ryan Newman, Rusty Wallace, Sterling Marlin and Bill Elliott light up fans by living on the edge week in and week out, and giving them a reason to cheer for America’s authentic performance brand.

Their dedication brings the passion for performance full circle, to the go-fast people at Dodge who live for the smell of burning rubber.

The SRT Lineup

The Dodge SRT lineup, developed by Chrysler Group’s Performance Vehicle Operations, represents some of the most extreme products ever developed by DaimlerChrysler and the Dodge brand. Whether it's the Dodge Viper SRT-10, Dodge SRT-4 or the Ram SRT-10 enthusiasts can look to Dodge as the claimholder to America's fastest, most powerful production cars in each of their market segments.

The Dodge Viper SRT-10's 505 cubic inches of engine displacement - generating 500 horsepower and 525 lb.-ft. of torque - will make it truly unique in its performance specifications. The Viper SRT-10 achieves some of the highest all-around performance claims ever for a production vehicle.

The Dodge SRT-4 is designed to smoke the tuner market with an estimated top speed of 148 mph, sub-six-second 0-to-60 mph times and a $20,995 price tag. At 230 horsepower and 250 lb.-ft. of torque, the turbocharged SRT-4 is estimated to be the quickest production car available in the United States for less than $21,000. Sport Compact Car magazine agrees, naming the Dodge SRT-4 its Compact Car of the Year for 2003.

As the boldest, baddest and fastest full-size pickup ever, the Viper V-10-powered Dodge Ram SRT-10 hauls more than just cargo. With a 150 mph top speed, the Dodge Ram SRT-10 is the ultimate performance pickup, delivering an endless rush of torque. Uncoiling 500 Viper SRT-10 horsepower, 525 lb.-ft. of torque, 505 cubic inches of V-10 muscle and a 508-watt, ear-melting sound system, Dodge Ram SRT-10 is the most outrageous pickup ever. The Ram SRT-10 definitely hauls.

"For 2004, we looked at our whole Dodge line in order to make sure we get a little more Dodge Viper SRT-10 into all of our products," said Darryl Jackson, Vice President - Dodge Division. "We think Dodge represents the best car and truck values in America, and we believe the Viper is a big part of this. Of course, when people think of the Viper their first thoughts are performance, style and power; not necessarily value. But think about it. The Viper delivers more power and performance than cars that are three and four times the price. How can you get better value than that?"

Performance Vehicle Operations

Performance Vehicle Operations (PVO) is the Chrysler Group’s mission leader for extreme performance.

With this in mind, PVO has created three sensational vehicles for Dodge, each designed to be the undisputed performance leader in their vehicle class: the Dodge Viper SRT-10, Dodge Ram SRT-10 and Dodge SRT-4. These vehicles combine the vast resources of the Chrysler Group’s performance engineering team, with real world experience gleaned from motorsports competition, to achieve new standards of performance in a line of vehicles that only Dodge could build.

"We are combining our extensive motorsports experience, along with our legendary Viper development team and our Mopar Performance Parts, to create a line of extreme performance vehicles that will blow past everyone else," said Dan Knott, Director - Performance Vehicle Operations. "PVO brings together the best performance development processes, durable high-performance parts and some of our most talented and experienced motorsports and performance car engineers to produce truly exciting cars and trucks."

Performance Vehicle Operations is structured as a profit center within the Chrysler Group focusing on enhancing Dodge, Jeep® and Chrysler brand product lines and image through high-end, limited-volume specialty vehicles.

just type in www.car.kak.net and scroll about 1/3-1/4 of the way down and you can see the stories/pictures there. the copy and paste method didn't work for me in a new window either, but at least this way you can view the pictures anyway.

the problem is that the entire thread has a couple of underscores involved, and they get lost in the translation when posted like they were. should read (leaving out the "www:" so you can see where the underscores are):

Yes they do. You have to open a fresh window. If the new window you opened, opened because you clicked on the links above, even if you copy and paste, it wont work. It has to be a fresh windoe that has not been exposed to the above links in any other way. Try again.

See message above. Links do work the way I described. Do not click on the links at all. If you do, close that window and open a new window. Unexposed to any links. Then right click, and select "copy shortcut", then paste. If you dont want to repeat, just raise the number by one digit and you get to the next pic.

ok ... just did a 'right click' on the link and then hit "copy shortcut" in a new window and it works as you described. had gone the control-c and control-v route, which didn't work, which is what I based my post on. your way isn't the how I would normally copy a link, so now I know something new. thanks for the ed-u-ma-cation.

While Toyota invests in hybrids that work, Dahmn I bought a Chrysler aka Daimlerchyrsler, again invests in something unneccesary and silly.

And a Ligenfelter S3 owns this thing.
With the Ram SRT-10, the PVO team set out to create the fastest, most powerful production pickup ever
That is one of the dumbest things to set out to create. Idiots.

Fuck pussy hybrids. I haven't seen any hybrid worth the first look, esp not a second.
