See what we don't know about him is that he farms, fights fires and works in Honda's Anna engine plant.

Yeah, I could see a couple of dumb ass hicks putting the wrong parts in the wrong block. Maybe they should hire people that are more intelligent than a trained monkey.

And WTF does your plant being the larges Honda engine plant have to do with anything?

Post Audi offers A8 with new Comfort and Sport packages

From Motor Authority...

Audi’s A8 flagship will have to soldier on in its current form for just a little while longer as the all-new 2011 model is a little more than a year away, so to help it along in showrooms Audi has released two new packages emphasizing the car’s comfort and sporting qualities.

Starting with the Comfort package, Audi adds a new Night Blue color scheme and 19in forged alloy wheels with a 12-spoke design. Inside, the seats are upholstered in beige Valcona leather, while silk Nappa leather is used for the center console, doors and dashboard. The package also includes heating for the front and rear seats, and a new seat ventilation and massage function for front seat passengers.

Opt for the Sport package and you get a car painted in an all-new Panther Black paint scheme exclusive to the A8, LED daytime running lights, sports seats in beige Valcona leather and heating for the front seat passengers. The center console, doors and lower dashboard are trimmed in black Nappa leather, while newly designed 20in cast aluminum wheels complete the list of upgrades.

Pricing for the Comfort package will set you back between € 4,200 and €14,500, depending on which A8 model you pick, while the Sport package ranges in price from €2,100 and €9,600.

Audi to discontinue S8 and A8 W12 sedans, VR6 motor for 2010

http://www.leftlanenews.com/audi-to-...-for-2010.html

Audi to discontinue S8 and A8 W12 sedans, VR6 motor for 2010
Audi’s high-performance S8 model will disappear for the 2010 model year, and the company will also discontinue use of the Volkswagen-sourced VR6 motor. The S8’s demise might be temporary. With a redesigned A8 expected to debut in 2010 for the 2011 model year, a new S8 could follow for 2012. As for the VR6 motor, it’s gone for good.
The VR6 engine is a 3.2-liter unit dating back to the 1990s, capable of producing up to 250 horsepower. It has most recently been used in the A3 and TT model ranges. Audi decided to drop the motor because it doesn’t fit with the company’s move toward more advanced direct-injection motors, according to Edmunds.
The company is also eliminating its slow-selling A8 W12, with a mere 100 units sold in 2008. Meanwhile, the front-drive 2.0-liter turbo TT is also gone for 2010, and the 265-horsepower version of the A4 will also go away.

Audi is going to put 4 cylinder into A8 and six cylinder for US market.

http://www.motorauthority.com/2011-audi-a8-debuts.html
The current Audi A8 has been on sale since 2003 and since that time has only received a minor facelift to keep it fresh alongside the updated Mercedes Benz S-Class, Lexus LS and new BMW 7-series. The minor styling changes implemented during the recent facelift will have to soldier on for at least another year as the next-generation ‘D4’ A8, according to Audi CEO Rupert Stadler, won’t arrive until the second half of next year as a 2011 model.

Speaking at the carmaker’s annual meeting, Stadler said the new A8 will be “the sportiest luxury sedan in its class" and that it will be unveiled for the first time in late November. Pricing hasn’t been announced but don’t expect much to change from the $74,875 starting price for the current 4.2L V8 model.

Recent reports have speculated that Audi may introduce a new four-cylinder version overseas. While this model will almost certainly miss out on a U.S. launch, a smaller V6 option may be heading Stateside for the first time and this could see the starting price of the range actually fall from current levels.

A prototype for the car has been spotted undergoing cold weather testing on a number of occasions, but always hidden beneath the current D3 body. For more information, check out our previous spy shot story by clicking here

I could see them putting out a 4cylinder 2.0T or slightly larger variant with an aggressive tune to bump the power. but that doesn't mean I don't think it's weird going that route, putting a 4 cylinder in a vehicle of this size. They have been on a campaign for wanting to have cars that have better gas mileage and performance and smaller motor with a turbo is a start.

Perhaps a motor with a larger turbo or some hybrid turbo/supercharger variant to help eliminate turbo lag at lower rpms while still putting out good numbers at the top end?

Thats a good idea and VAG is already years ahead of you on that concept.

http://www.autobloggreen.com/2006/05...ngine-of-2006/

Now if they can only implement the twincharger concept on a slightly larger engine....if they havent done so already.

Pics at link.

SANTA MONICA, California — Don't look for the all-new 2010 Audi A8 at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show next month. The redesigned luxury flagship sedan isn't expected to make its official world debut until January at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show.

Last month, guests of Audi's 100th anniversary celebration were treated to their first look at the 2010 Audi A5 Sportback, but the 2010 Audi A8 did not make an appearance.

Although future A8 test mules have been spotted on German roads for some time, they were cloaked in current A8 bodies, so it's been difficult to predict the level of style changes for the new aluminum sedan. IL has now learned that the big A8 will receive more evolutionary styling rather than a radical update. With the debut of the rakish Audi A7 concept already set for late 2009, the A8 will continue to play the part of a grown-up sedan, leaving the production A7 to challenge the Mercedes-Benz CLS while it remains a Mercedes S-Class competitor.

Audi enthusiasts should expect to see a new range of engines and an eight-speed automatic transmission when the A8 hits showrooms next year.

that looks pretty nice, not as bloated as the new 7 and worlds better than the 4 year old crayon wheel arches of the S class. In the V8 category, it should beat out MB by a bit, however unless it is turbo-charged, it won't even touch the 750's 4.8L twin Turbo V8. The W12 cancelation doesn't come as a surprise, the 100 or so people that got them because they could afford them, besides the W12, it doesn't offer any other things, like on the S class with the v12 everything is standard, and with the 760 almost everything is stnadard except for features such as ACC, camera packages, etc.

I mean yeah, it sounds insane putting 4 banger in the A8, however, it is a good timing for this in my opinion.

I'm sure it's only a 'temporary' thing to boost up the sales of A8 with on-going trend.

Eventually, S8 and all the other high-performance oriented variants will come out for sure.

Side and rear look great, the front grill looks awkward sorta like the lastest Acura grills. Although not as bad as the beak the bread slicer from Audi are not too inspired.
