So beyond the drama, what does everyone think? Will the ILX be as wide as the RDX when it arrives (~74")? If anyone attended the show, did the car look like it was wearing 'show car' style fender flares or did it look like production parts? This car is REALLY close to starting production, so I think it's likely that what we've seen is what we'll get (not counting bolt-ons like wheels etc).FWIW, the Civic chassis on which it's based is only 69" wide.

probably shoulder room, but if it keeps the Civic-ness, it means a flat rear floor for backseat passengers, which is even better. I always loved that feature about the Civic, which carried over to the CR-V. Always wondered why the midsize sedans have the tunnel hump if the Civics can do without it.

The RSX had the flat floor too. I bet the larger cars have the hump to allow for the AWD drivetrain to be added. CRV, RDX etc probably have AWD + flat floor simply because they ride higher off the ground.

Exactly, our 1G Pilot if you look at the rear driveshaft is slightly below the floor level but because there are 4 large box rectangular sections in the unibody pan it is still not the lowest point to the ground.

The hump on the floors also increases uni-body rigidly and strength. So even though there is no driveshaft, Honda and others has run the exhaust piping through the center for ground clearance and the slight interior hump adds to chassis strength.

Like how corrugated roofs are stronger than flat sheets. Of course it also uses more material and since the side rails are so strong these days (side impact standards), maybe they can avoid the hump if it's not needed for something else like exhaust etc.

I don't know, but since they've never added AWD to the TSX class car and that chassis was ready to accept it, logically, a 'lower' car that doesn't have such capability built in, and one that sells at a lower price point, would not get AWD.

do the headlights appear HID? I don't think they do...if so

and no LED in the taillights, looks like regular bulbs. this car needed to be cheap and cool. so far it's starting to look only the former.

Headlights look HID to me. they may not be a projector setup, but look at the color difference between the headlights and the fogs.

Acura's been using HID headlights in all their cars now or am I missing something? Why go back to halogen now.

I fully expect HID projector headlamps. I don't expect LED tails or running lights.

Same here, I was a little surprised when the 8G Accord didn't have LED taillights considered the 7G Accord got them in the MMC. Sorta de-evolutionary.

Probably cost savings measure, but to me LED taillights are something I'd pay a little extra for. Besides looking cool, they're a safety improvement with much faster turn-on and monochromatic light my eyes noticed quicker.

H.I.D.s should be standard. Period.

L.E.D. tails would be cool, too, but I can see them not making it due to cost. The ZDX doesn't have L.E.D.s and it is significantly more expensive.

Maybe I've missed it but, any word on a dual exhaust? I feel like the ILX without dual exhaust ports out back would seem kind unfinished. The rear design looks so nice and it looks pretty cheated without exhaust tips.

Also Acura, please give it up on the whole 'integrated exhaust tips' thing. Looks lame to me. Where's the sexy but tasteful exhaust treatment of the 3G TL/TL-S?
