Will all CLs experiance transmission failure?
Hello, I recently purchased a very decent shape 01 Cl 3.0 with a 135,000 miles on it. The car runs great, but after reading so much about transmission failure, im worried its only a matter of time before it gos..Im hoping it doesn't, knock on wood. Has anyone had a CL that's ran fine without any transmission issues? or do all have this defunct?

I have an '01 Cl-S (bought in Aug 2000) that is original and never given any problems. I have never taken the car in for the oil-jet fix. I have 110,000 miles currently.

My '03 CL-S auto transmission finally bit the dust at 270,00 miles, I bought the car at 99K. When I took it to the local Acura dealer for the 110K mile timing belt replacement, they looked up it's history said it was checked out under the recall. Perhaps whatever they did at that time made it last as long as it did.
Transmissions Plus in Columbia rebuilt it just before Thanksgiving 2010. After that I drove it about 800 miles and it developed a whine. It changed pitch with road speed. Initially, they had to replace one side of the case because one of the shaft mounts was worn.
Apparently, the new case had a mis-aligned shaft mount causing improper gear meshing. The car stayed in the shop another 2 days to get a new set of final drive gears.
On a side note, something future customers should be aware of. My car was searched while it was in their possession. Since almost all mechanics have a "Not responsible for lost or stolen items" sign in their shop, I "scrubbed" my car by removing anything loose except spare tire & jack, locked everything up, & gave them my valet key. There is nothing in the trunk or glove box or rear stow that has anything to do with overhauling a transmission. My car was returned to me with 40 more miles on the odometer, the lock to the rear stow between the rear seats was dislodged, & I found dead grass under my trunk liner. There's nothing I can do about it because there is no expectation of privacy when you yield your car to a mechanic since they may need access to any part of the car. Just a heads up.

How do you have a 2001 with a 3.0 liter engine? I thought they were all 3.2 liters.
Any transmission for any car will eventually wear/fail. It's more about how long it lasts. They will all eventually fail.

I had a 2002 CL-S and mine failed at around 75k miles. Dashboard lit up like a Christmas Tree. Fortunately, I was below 100k miles and under factory warranty. I loved that car until I totaled it out.
