Trany Fluid 50/50?
I had 142K on my 2001 Cls trany, and no idea when was the last time the oil was changed. Although still working like a charm, I know it is a matter of time for the transmission to go caput'..... Is it true that if I put new oil it will will do harm and damage the transmission due to its milage? I was recommended to 'filter' the old oil and only put back a 50/50 with new oil.

AMS Oil Transmission Fluid
I had the usual problems and after the 3rd transmission replacement the service tech at the dealer told me about a solution another customer presented that I then acted upon. I replaced the transmission fluid with AMS Oil high performance transmission fluid rather than the factory fluid. It totally fixed the slipping problem and I haven't had any issues since. I drive the car pretty hard on occasion and everything has held together strong.
I would recommend changing out your transmission fluid with the AMS Oil product.
Best of Luck!

i have mine replaced every 10-12k miles.
Is it true the filter is in the Third gear box
so thats why it fails? because it cant be
changed w/o taking the tranny apart?
Or is a tranny filter that sits below the air filter housing
that's to be replaced. It looks very similar to a fuel filter???
