Overkill?

So here's my new subwoofer box built to kicker specs...I like it and it sounds pretty good but I'm thinking on getting type x's instead.

yes. just not practical. there are plenty of other subs out there that will do the same (if not better) and will not take nearly as much room. i'm sure that thing weighs a ton too.

Huge! At that point you may as well take out the back seat and get a Jack Hammer. All joking aside, a JLW7 is more than enough and you wont need a ridiculous box to house it.

Rofl, at your guy's responses! I agree though and im looking at type X's, I wanted to try a new brand since I have been all alpine for a long time. My type R in a smaller sealed box with less power was louder than this. So I experimented with this and while very loud, its a very heavy set-up and i hope to replace it when i have the money to throw at it

Overkill? No way. You have like 8 inches on the drivers side and 6 inches on the drivers side of unused space. Use it up.

Your totally right, I fucked up. I need to extend the box 6 inches more on both sides for maximum output.

And yeah kicker can suck it, thats what I get for trying something new that was around the same price as a type r

How are the rattles with that thing? My two 12"s rattle like a bitch, I can't even imagine what that one must do.

Lol civicdrivr i'm just playin' too, gotta laugh at yourself sometime too right? I admit it is over the top but i'm just trying to play with different options as i've never had a ported box

slick- The rattle is honestly not that bad, the higher frequency stuff makes the body panels in the rear have a really high reverberation and the really low stuff just makes the speaker shelf in the back slap against the back window. Should be resolved with some dynamat and i gotta find a way to get the part of the shelf hit the glass to stop making noise, i'm thinking some kind of soft material to line the edges with.

Def overkill, although I can't talk, my sub box is 1" too wide to go between my shock towers, so it sits forward similar to yours, but your box is just ridiculous, my car isn't my dd either so I don't really need the trunk, you just have NO trunk

Haha I really don't need the trunk, nothing has been in there since the purchase of the car but cases of beer. It's built to kickers specs which was 5.6 cu. ft. If I didn't have navigation I would have tried to build it a little deeper in there, that's why im looking at type x 12's

Hmm, I know my 3rd brake light is rattling a lot, so I'm going to spry some foam into it to keep it from rattling. The only other things that rattle a lot are the emergency release in the trunk and the spoiler. I'm going to try to to figure out how to fix spoiler for cheap soon too.
