suction cups can actually take quite a load if they are quality and applied to a really clean surface, with plenty of suction on it (thats the biggest thing it makeing sure it keeps that suction lol)

Here is a pic of the suction cup for this camera:
You push down on the button in the middle, then flip the latch up. It is really strong.
Supposedly theres a firmware update coming for it May 17th that allows upside-down recording. If it does come out, I can mount it on the sunroof on the inside of the car so there wont be any windnoise.

that looks like that will make quite a bit of suction, with a two step process vs just pushing the thing on and calling it good
but anyways for mounting the camera inside easy, just take down the dome light when you need a camera mount, that way you don't screw up any interior panels in the process, and make a little mount off there
and as far as the "firmware" update, allowing you to mount it upsidedown, and take the video correctly, just rotate it afterwards on the computer and call it good

this might also work too, cause you can actually pump the vacuum/suction higher, think of those vacuum handles glass installers use all the time

btw paul, look at when they make movies and such with car scenes, they mount their $50,000+ cameras on with just suction cups

Thats a nice camera mount. I started to make one similar to that but I lost interest I was going to run a video camera in the car pointed at the gauge cluster and another pointed at the road.
And as far as flipping the image during editting - Im not really into editting videos. I honestly have no idea what to do. If I can prove to myself that I want to actually make more videos, then Ill probably take the time to get into it. For now, Im just lazy.

I have seen suction cups fail, even the big pump ones for moving glass and the movie studios have insurance on those cameras, call me a pussy if you want, but that is pushing it a bit much for me.

ok fair enough, but if you want a self sucking one, just run a vacuum tube from the engine's manifold, with a couple of checkvalves inline, so it can't lose the suction, then at idle you will get like 15-20" of vacuum, then under engine braking, you can get up to like 25"+ or so of vaccum and those checkvalves should keep it up till you engine brake again (be no different then the brake booster btw), and would cause absolutly no effect on how the engines runs too
and then if you want to make sure it does not lose vaccum inbetween revving and such, put a little reservoir after the checkvalves to help keep the vacuum more stable, and iirc 97 jeep cherokees, have a real nice ball shaped reservoir on them (and if i remember right it is right behind the front bumper on the passenger side)
but also as far civic's camera, i don't think it is a super expensive one, especially how he is like "idk if i want to even make more videos"

now i see the little indent in the middle of that lower rod lol, but yeah seat will have some play in it, but if someone where to sit there also, it would take up the slack in the seat assembly, but then you got weight moving around and possibly shaking the seat (not at quite the high frenquency then with nobody there), so maybe try running a strap from the headrest to one child seat "tether" anchor behind it, then tighten it up, it will basically pull the slack outta the seat, so hopefully get rid of the shakeness that you are seeing
also that highrise for the camera itself does not help either the shorter the arms the better, cause longer arms will ampify any shaking from the seat and such into the camera (also something like Sony's stable shot would help too)

Yes. New wheels. Im going back to black. I cant get used to the bronze. They do look nice, but every damn Subaru here is black/bronze.
They are lighter though, so thats a plus.

I saw these on closeout on tirerack pretty tempting but a few ppl on here have these wheels already. http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...All&sort=Brand
500 each seems really cheap tho. I just cant justify swapping wheels so much.
type f i do have civic wheels on my cl

I do like SSRs, but the wheels I got weigh about the same, cost much less, and Im 100% sure no one has had them on a CL.
I may pick up a set of SSRs for my Civic. But I do love what I currently have.
And at the rate I seem to be going through wheels, cheaper is better.

btw for that camera mount again, this might work a little better with attaching to both seats instead of just one

That is pretty nice, but here are my issues with it:
1- It requires both seats to be at the exact same position.
2- Our headrests have to be up all the way for that to fit because of the raised portion in the seat on both sides of the headrest. Theres not enough scope in that bracket for it to fit otherwise.
3- $100!!!!!
4- I can build it for $30 including paint and the tripod head.

heres also another one , but kinda expensive, but they work with your seat though with how the headrest is kinda recessed into the shoulder are
http://www.amt-engineering.com/stealth_hcm.html
and even has little anti-vibration mounts built in, and makes sure to have a snug fit around the posts also (without scratching the posts) look at the install instructions

I saw that last one on ebay. Its nice, but that price is retarded.
And regarding the first one - I started to build one like that. My drill ran out of juice and I lost interest in it.
I remembered after I cleaned up that I have a corded drill too, but I was too lazy to pull everything out again.
Ive got another idea I may look into regarding the camera mount. But its nowhere near the top of my Shit-To-Do list.

and a video for the mount in use, seems quite stable to me (yes there is a little movement, but i think that might be more the seat though)

^ Need to get the intake back on, then Ill hit the dyno again.
I may hop on the dyno this week just to get another baseline with the exhaust on, then go to see just the gain from the intake.
