FYI...Mileage after gas light
#41
I've driven a little over 60 miles with the fuel light on. My car took 17.8 gallons of gas. I have filled my car several times with more than the 17.2 the book says it holds

I put just under 15 gallons in once, which is the most I've ever done. The lowest I feel comfortable with is 30-40 miles after the light comes on. My 2001 is still averaging 32 or 33 mpg highway.

17.2 should be capacity at first click of the pump... Also not a good idea to run it down to E all the time...

Can the car really run down to empty? Let me re-state that...of course we can run out of gas...
I guess my question is really, how much gas is still in the car when one runs out of fuel... out of the 17 gallon capacity, I can't believe that you can use the gas down to a teaspoon of fuel.
Just like when you drain the oil out of the crankcase, there is still some oil left in the car...
Just curious if any one knows this...
