DIY: Taillight Tinting by C-C-C.net - PDF File Included (Lots of Pics NO 56K)
Printer Friendly: PDF File can be DL'd here: http://niteqwill.spymac.net/PDF/lights.pdf
Materials: Ammonia-Free Glass cleaner, X-acto Knife or Sharp Utility Knife (DO NOT use a dull blade), a cup of water (beer if you want), and some inner patience (those who meditate need not apply this step ), C-C-C.net tinting film
The Kit comes with instructions, they are basically the same as this, I added a few steps like the masking tape, rounding off corners, etc.
Total time: 45 minutes (I'm a perfectionist, for those who aren't, a decent job would take 25-30 minutes)
Thanks to Juniorbean for the UPS Next Day Air shipment, I received my tint in less than two days from East to West coast. Notice the QUALITY of this film, it is top-notch and unlike window film, it curves and stretches easily.
1. Prep, clean the tailights with ammonia-free glass cleaner or similar (do not use ammonia based products because they leave a film) Pictured below, it's the blue spray can, can be had at costco in packs of 4 for $8, I use them on my car windows, no streaks at all plus it is water based so it is safe for your car.
2. Above: Use masking tape to tape off the red/clear edge (for you non-03 CL'ers, get creative, hehe)
3. Now, test fit the film without removing it from the adhesive. This is how you will place it, measure left to right, to make sure you don't run out of film (that would really suck )
4. Apply film from back to front, it is much easier. Using your finger dipped in water (or beer you wasteful person :sqnteek: ) to smooth out the bubbles as you go forward, use an up-down motion.
5. This is your finished product (no bubbles!), almost... the meditation/yoda practice comes in handy in the next few steps. :shit:
6. Using your X-acto knife, cut along the edges, starting at the rear (bottom, right pictured), and working you way up the top (do the bottom, with the masking tape, LAST). When doing the pointed corners (far left & right), try as hard to round off the corners to prevent the film from accidently coming up when you wash the car.
7. Now, with the aid of the masking tape, just let the X-acto knife follow the TOP edge of the tape and finish up the bottom, you should have a straight line (hopefully )
8. Now repeat on the other side, learn from your mistakes on the previous light, finish, and marvel at your work.
Now the cars have at least HALF in common

The pictures will work, sorry. Just checked, it seems like the server is under a lot of load.
The system returned:

Squid is unable to create a TCP socket, presumably due to excessive load. Please retry your request.

Well you know your server better than anyone, so when do you think would be a good time? I just came back in here and still no pictures. That pdf would really be helpful. No rush - you can PM me if/when you find it or repost it here.

Do you know if they make this tint for first gen cl? I wonder if they sell this in rolls, I could put this on myself and form it.

Hey Niteqwill, do you know of anywhere else I can get the tint from? They have the dark, but the light isn't in stock. I'm assuming yours is the darker version?
