from his avatar i assume he has a honda accord, so he can use the honda 1 stage airbag. I had one from my dc5 wheel that was honda single stage with the red H emblem(it will fit rsx). I would get that one if i could. Sold mine on ebay for 150.

nvm looks like he has a 1st gen cl, so not sure unless u want a honda logo on ur wheel.

all the rsx airbags are dual stage, atleast USDM.

dainfummus has a 1g CL. you can use a AP1 S2k airbag

I'm planning to do this to my TL aspec, have you figured out the cruise control wiring yet? I'm thinking of the same setup as op, ap1 wheel, rsx airbag and cruise controls.

I no longer have cruise control, so no I havent figured out the wiring.

If you can source the clock spring from an RSX, that will plug right in.

Man i really wanted to do this swap but i don't have the black leather interior. And im looking up Ap1 steering wheels and they're all black leather. Any input? All S2k's have black steering wheels?

All S2ks use black wheels.

You can opt for the RSX wheel which is available in other colors but it doesnt have the perforated leather.

^^ Damn i really like the perforated leather since it matches the rest of the interior. Think a black one would look stupid with the beige interior? I meen i do have a black radio dash and center console

i love the s2k wheel. so much sportier than the giant oem wheel. i know it's only a few cm smaller, but its a world of difference. i didn't like the color contrast from the rsx airbag on the s2k wheel (just didn't look like it belong), so i went with the s2k airbag. Minus the big "H" in the middle, it looks very "factory". the "H" oesnt really bother me as much anymore, but one day i will get someone to make a vinyl "A" for me to stick over it.

nice write up

Actually there is 1" (2.54cm)differance in diameter. You can get RSX airbag and you dont have to modify anything. Wiring the CC is kinda tricky you have to try and swap the wires around to make it work (there is 3 of them)

the CC on the s2k also need to be rewired. when i hooked it up directly, it was reversed. accelerate was decelerate and decelerate was accelerate. but it was an easy fix.

I'm not 100% sure s2k and RSX use same wire colors.
This is for RSX wheel that i did swap on my CL. If your s2k cc switch wire color is same as below RSX wires, this should work for you.
Here it is.
There are 9wires coming out from your original clock spring.
It sould be like this. When you look at it sitting on driver's seat. From left to right.

-------------------------------------------------------->

1st-----2nd----3rd---4th---5th--6th--7th--8th--9th
"Green Green Green Blue Green Blue Blue Blue Blue"

First 3 green wires are for cruise control. and There are also 3wires coming out from RSX cc switch. It should be Blk/Red, Blk/White and Blk/Orange. now here are direction which wire connect to which wire.

CL clock spring----------------> RSX CC switch
#1 Green ---------------------> Blk/Red
#2 Green ---------------------> Blk/Orenge
#3 Green --------------------->Blk/White

Make sure cc wire color from your s2k wheel match to my RSX cc wire i posted above. I hope this help.

I just got my RSX steering wheel with airbag for $140 shipped thankfully. I'm kinda hesitant to splice my oem wiring harness for cruise control...I hate wiring, regardless how easy it is lol

I don't ever really use it, but it'd be good to have it.

anthracitecl - thanks for that. I guess I could try it it out and if I mess up, guess it wouldn't be any different if I didn't plug it in.

I have a bit of a problem:

The left side of the airbag doesn't line up. I tried bending (just slightly) the bracket. I could stretch the bracket to line up and then screw it in, but I don't know what repercussions that might cause. The right side matches up perfectly though. Any ideas?

problem solved, the tab was angled/bent and I was thinking it was supposed to be like that because of how thick it is.

I went ahead and connected the wires anthracitecl said to. I'll test it out tomorrow on the highway.

Yea, my airbag frame was a bit tweaked. But it fits in there nicely now.

Yeah, no problem with the steering wheel and airbag now. Now the problem is that cruise control isn't working

I gotta make another post for it though.

Has anyone else tried this? I did it and my wires were the same color, but my CC still isnt' working.

- plastic throttle body pulley isn't broken and it's on track and moves freely
- brake pedal switch was replaced about 2 years ago, but I did the "put pressure up when trying to do cruise control" trick, but it didn't work
- The horn works
- the button lights up green and stays depressed, but the CLUSTER CC light doesn't come on.

The only other thing I can think of is the actual CC steering wheel switch itself?

hmm...maybe CL is different than TL? I think I'm going to try reversing the accel/decel wires. Another post in this thread from m733l said that the wiring was reversed? But Im not sure anthracitecl already accounted for that.

Nspec used the RSX cable reel. It plugged right into the CL dash harness and the RSX controls and he said everything works. I dont have CC in my car so I can't test it.

Installed the RSX wheel today I got courtesy of 03tlsNBP. So much better than the oversized stock wheel.

I eff'd up at the end though by over tightening one of the t30 torx bolts and I stripped the head. I ordered a RSX clock spring and now I gotta figure out how I'm gonna open it up again with the stripped bolt.

Anyways, here's a pic of my dash:

Looks great

I stripped my Torx screws too. That's why I included those two bolts with the airbag.

Any update with the RSX clock spring installed? I've been traveling for my job, so I haven't had the time to start back messing with the wiring.

Kinda bring this thread back to life with a question. Are we able to remove the volume contolrs from the original CL steering wheel? I can;t use mine and they are kind of useless?

I bought a S2K steering wheel & a RSX airbag recently as I thought this is one of the nicer DIY project. I am a bit hesitant to start this since it seemed the RSX cruise switch interface to the CL cruise control electronics has not been fully resolved.

I have the schematic of the CL's cruise control wiring & wondered if any member here has the RSX cruise schematics.

I'm posting the CL's wiring diagram, hoping to start this ball rolling again and if there is someone who can pitch in to get this interfacing resolved.

I'd like to clear this up for everyone.

The RSX clockspring is plug and play , and enables you to run cruise control , horn , and dual stage airbag . It does not have audio controls . Mine looks like so -

And as for the wheel , all rsx btw , will eventually go s2k wheel

I took some photos on interfacing CL’s cable reel to RSX's cruise control switch to retain its 5 functions. The pictures will show which wire needs to be spliced to which wire to retain all functions.

The combination below as posted by anthracitecl on 9/17/2012 was correct and it worked when I rigged up the wires:
CL clock spring---------------> RSX CC switch
#1 Green ---------------------> Black/Red
#2 Green ---------------------> Black/Orange
#3 Green ---------------------> Black/White

CL's cable reel

How the wires were interfaced during the trial.

Actual wiring before I secured a duct tape over the CL wire harness connector before taking it for a road test.

I have a friend who has 1 s2k wheel 1 s2k wheel with the airbag. I can get these for cheap but I have a 03 CL-s. Can anyone confirm if the airbag will work? I am not to worried about CC, I was just planning on taking it out anyway.
