Revving at 9K...
I should order one too, I got the same crap in my S2000's supercharger kit. I just clean it recently, and it was a piece of the carp too. However, on the instructions, I did not read anything about using the whole can of oil to recharge the filter, so I did not do that. All I did was make sure that there was enough oil to cover the entire filter. I wonder if I didn't do something right.
But thanks for the research, I might just buy a couple, and swap them out every six month or so.

I JUST going to post this same issue........
i'm looking into purchasing a velocity stack filter. Not that this will help the dirt collection issue but.....i like the velocity stack filter better than the standard filter.

yea i'm considering this although i dont think there is a need for this as the black housing is removable be unscrewing it like the 01-02 roadlamps.

Take the filter off, measure it and then go to K&N's website and do the research... You'll find one for your application..

Well alternatives are nice and good .As far as that pin on the foam filter it will work .............as long as you rotate the filter ot the correct position .I used to run UNI foam filters on my bikes (literally for years) never had a problem .I see the foam filters here a lot have not seen any that have experienced any problems .KN is good stuff too but the cotton filter is fragile and must be cleaned very carefully and dried or else holes can develop that negate the worth of the filter .The foamies are a quick cleanup .
I found the comment about having to clean up the filter every 3000 miles interesting .I thought you guys were looking to extract the last iota of performance these cars can offer so it makes sense to keep the filter as clean as possible after all a clean filter works better than a dirty one .

To try to explain an Italian car is virtually impossible ,after all they do indeed leak oil ,contain dubious electrical systems and are possessed by rust gods that are wicked in their abilty to consume poorly protected Italian tin .So what is it you might ask that makes these cars so special ? Well I have worked on many cars and have driven most of what is out there yet nothing is quite as "right" as an Italian car when it's "just so ".
Years ago when the Miata was introduced I remember reading a print ad that told the reader about how Mazda tried 50 different exhausts before they settled on one that had the "right " combination of sound and power .How interesting I thought to myself here these guys in Hiroshima are testing themselves silly all the while over in Italy they just hang whatever they can find that fits under the car and it sounds great .So what does this mean ? well it is simple .You can buy a Lexus LS top of the line sedan ,it will probably be ultra reliable ride great and it is in all respects more or less a blatant copy of a Mercedes .This is what they intended over at Toyota and they are quite good at it .I like the Lexus it is a great car but there is one thing it will never be ,quite siimply put it will never ever be a Mercedes .I grew up on European machinery and frankly no matter how wonderful the Japanese are at creating reliable cars it will not be enough for me .
I have owned Japanese cars ,they are impressive reliable things but there is one quality they lack and that is one that cannot be designed nor is it assembled or a bolt on item available online .You cannot grow it you cannot paint it on .It is called soul and they can copy every other trick but that is one trick they will not master .What is soul well go drive an Alfa Spider or perhaps a Ferrari 250 GT SWB (I have ) or try a Milano or perhaps a Maserati and then you will know .
In Road & Track years ago I read an article about a Ferrari gathering of some sort somewhere .One of the pictures was of a Ferrari 250 GTO ,underneath this photo was a simple caption "Breathes there a soul so dead that it does not drool on the fender of a Ferrari?" .I have never been a big reader but that line has stayed with me all of these years and frankly to me it said everything that I needed to know .Except perhaps they should have added Alfa Romeo.

Well put Jens and very true. The last car I had, a 1993 Audi S4 had soul. When you punched the gas on the highway it was like you were transported to the Autobahn. Same thing when I've driven a 911. Seems like there is always a trade off though and the Audi "quirkiness" eventually offset it's enjoyment as a daily driver. I'm very happy with the Acura though. The CL 6 speed may not have a lot of soul but it does have a lot of endearing qualities and isn't really a copy of anything. It's fun and exciting like a good video game. Nothing magical like a Ferrari though. I hope I get to drive one of those someday.

I always refered to them as a 'poor man's Maserati', but they did have character that made them stand apart from the crowd.
That's why I still love older American Muscle cars . . . mechanically the were POS compared to today's new cars, but I'd have one in a heart beat.

K&N air filter

Thanks for doing the research on this filter. I have always liked K&N filters better than the foam ones. I went ahead and ordered one. Thanks again.

But anyway, brings back fond memories of broken motor mounts, distributors that rotated around by themselves, starting the car under the hood with a pair of small needlenose pliers, the smell and sight of good Italian oil, dropping a chain connector down the front of the engine and spending 2 hours finding it with a magnet...ah -- Alfa days!! After 5 Alfas, I still miss my first Alfa Spyder 1300.

I had a K&N in my Prelude before I got the CLS and put the CT Icebox and I wonder if the "foam" filter lets in more than the K&N filter? Anyone that has handled both would wonder also. THe CT filter is...thin...which is why you need to clea it ever oil change not like the K&N every 40K or more? Could you be betraying some of the gains by changing the filter? Just because it fits....

smitty again showing that he is on the ball...good job bro. Allthough I think the AEM filter exposed outside like the Aem CAI may expose to much dirt to the filter.....inside the Icebox its like its found it new home.. I wouldnt doubt a 1-2 HP
