So I went to the track a few days after I got my new exhaust, here is a couple of the runs I made. Also to note the track was a little hotter than last time I went.Ran a few 13.3s @ 105 with a best run of 13.35 @ 105.57mph. With a 2.24 60ft. I did notice my 1/8 mile speed was slightly better than before and my trap speed stayed pretty much the same despite the warmer weather. Im just gonna wait for some cooler weather, get some slicks and install some radius rod bushings before I go again. Then I guarantee I will be in the 12s

So its been a while since my last update but im still here. A few months ago my motor suffered a bad over rev and bent some exhaust valves. I decided to go the cheap route considering the mileage on the engine and abuse it has seen I just lapped in some spare exhaust valves. So now that it is back up and running I took it to the track last week and ran a best of 13.25 @107.21. Conditions were in the mid 60s. Next time we get some 50s here Ill be back out there with my new ram air velocity stack and I think it will run every bit of a 109mph trap.

Here is the vid.

Awesome build, its really impressive to me how these motors respond so well to simple breathing/exhausting mods

Your car is a beast reese! 107 Your car is still a full second faster than mine and I was excited about my 14.2! I wish I could get my 60's down to where you are at... I cant do better than 2.3 in my 5AT.

Instead of getting a cat back I'm thinking about just doing a cutout after the jpipe... I need to free up my exhaust!

I like seeing what you can do on street tires. With slicks you might notice the lack of clamping force from the stock pp and clutch. Then you would need to spend even more money.

Am I seeing your 1/8 times right.
8.66

I just ran 8.61 today at 81.89 "Auto" .Not the fast trap as you but I ran a faster et.
Do you get the slips on race days or do you go get them every run regaurd less.
I just run and look at the sign.I don't go offten enough to know how getting the slips works.
Can I get them on test n tune days ?

He had a 2.1s 60'. What was yours?

If he had pulled a 1.9s or even 2s 60', he probably would run 8.5x 1/8th mile. He has 4mph on you in the 1/8th, which is much more telling then the e/t.

Not sure of 60ft ,and mph don't mean anything to me.If you want to factor in my tire size I would probally be about 2-2.5mph faster
I'm sure I could do easy 8.5 since I was at 8.61
Keep in mind my tires are still spining too .
I will get to 8.4 easy with stickyier tires. Is 12's what nobody has reached n/a ? That would be 8.25 in the 1/8 to get into the 12's witch.
I still have more weight to remove besides I have new mods coming soon.
Come run the auto cl "civic".
I have the 8.6 on video but,my girl always have a problem trying to get the time boards on the cammera

Nice time Reese! You need to come run at Atco in NJ. -1500ft DA last Friday lol.

What's your intake setup going to look like? My 4" CAI/velocity stack setup is working great as far as I can tell. In for results.

Richard: MPH should mean a lot to you. If you are losing MPH, you won't get any faster. MPH shows how much power you are making, or 'power to weight.' You obviously want to get faster in both ET & MPH. I'd like to see your slip. I'm not calling BS, but when he cut a 2.17 60' and trapped 85 and ran a 8.66, I have a hard time believing you are 'spinning' getting a 8.61 trapping 3mph less. If you had a 1.9 60' maybe, otherwise I can't see it happening.

How do I do the whole slip thing ?
I don't have no problem with that because I'm pretty excited that it's getting quicker everytime I go.
I will be back again next sunday.
I did get a crappy video of my run where there was not enogh zoom on the cammera to see the boad but it was my 8.61 run. I will load it up in a few to the video section.

My velocity stack setup will be for the track only and will consist of 3.5 inch piping going down to my fog light hole with a metal screen as a slight filter, then the velocity stack. This will create kind of a forced induction on the engine. I have experience with this before and it should net another 1-2 mph trap speed.

Dc header with custom down pipe and 3 inch cat less single exhaust. Ported manifold and runners with 74mm throttle body. Light weight flywheel. 3.5 inch intake. As for the weight of the car im not sure, I would assume its around 3100-3200 pounds. The only weight reduction that I have is a gutted trunk.

You have a lwfw so that is more weight loss right there. I would assume you are running a lw crank pulley also? Lighter wheels? Lighter exhaust? Aftermarket headers are lighter, aftermarket motor mounts are 2-3 lbs lighter, etc. Wonder what your curb weight is with the swapped motor/tranny. I would assume it weighs more than the previous setup. Wonder what the chassis weight difference is from the cl and the accord coupe. I would think around 100 lbs or less. I can't really see any more than that in extra sheet metal.

BTW how is the oem clutch and lwfw in slow speed driving? Is there a lot of chatter/noise? I think I am just gonna go oem clutch with lwfw. CM and xlr8 clutch just seems like a headache and issues down the road. Not too mention the price and probably won't last nearly as long. Since I am not drag racing or pushing that much power I think stock is fine.

EX V6 Accord Coupe = 3283lbs
CL-S6 = 3446lbs

That dsn't take into account the motor/tranny swap tho. I was referring to the chassis and body minus drivetrain/interior panels etc.

I do not have a light weight crank pulley. The next time I get a chance I will weigh the car but Im pretty sure its in the 3100 to 3200 pound range.
The light flywheel with stock clutch grabs pretty good but is a little finicky. The reason being is the stock clutch disc is un sprung or at least my aftermarket Luk replacement is and the light flywheel is also un sprung.

The J30 in the 6G Accord doesnt weigh much less then the J32A2 (if at all), but the 6MT is definitely lighter then the 4AT in the Accord.

Reese, so you are using a velocity stack first, then putting the 'screen filter' behind it? Interesting. Mine is the opposite. My fog light housing has been glued in, so I can't get it out just yet. If I can, I'm sure I would gain MPH as well because my Vstack is basically sitting right above it.

No wonder we make very similar numbers on the dyno. I still have the oem throttle body and untouched runners. I have a few things left I want to do. I think I might start going into the engine a little bit but nothing on the shortblock.

What's your guys opinions on cams? I would love to do it but I want to still run the oem ecu. I do not want to deal with tuning issues. Plus I love how it runs like it's 100% stock right now.

Btw guys my cl weighed 3325lbs with a full nitrous bottle so minus that it's 3300lbs even! Mine should be even less next time I go back because I have the new wheel and tire setup, I'll remove the jack, and might right this lighter battery I have if it will work.

I have not made this velocity stack setup yet but when I do I will have the screen in between the pipe and velocity stack. Then the velocity stack will either be on the outside of the fog light hole/bumper or just behind it for a hidden look.

My last dyno did not have my 74mm throttle body or my 3 inch exhuast so im guessing that is good for 10-15 hp but I wont know till its back on the dyno. If I were you I would get your manifold and runners ported as well as 74-76mm throttle body instead of cams. This should be a cheaper route too.

Reese, I do not understand how your getting traction. It seems impossible to get traction in my CL-S. And when I do, I get wheel hop. I took my car last wednesday to the 1/8 mile track and broke my driver side CV Joint from wheel hop. Any pointers on keeping our tires on the ground?

^ preload clutch. Although, I don't believe Reese is doing that.

This is what I have found successful screwing around on the closed street at my work but I have not been able to get back to the track to prove this with timeslips.

Better mounts, coilovers, radius rod bushings, torque dampers....those are all things that have limited wheel hop on my car.

My last dyno did not have my 74mm throttle body or my 3 inch exhaust so im guessing that is good for 10-15 hp but I wont know till its back on the dyno. If I were you I would get your manifold and runners ported as well as 74-76mm throttle body instead of cams. This should be a cheaper route too.

I'm looking forward to see your new dyno numbers. I'm definitely going to port the manifold, runners, and add the mdx velocity stacks. I don't want to get a aftermarket throttle body because I will lose cruise control and I can't do that lol. I use that almost everyday I'm lazy lmao! I would maybe get the oem throttle body bored but I'm not sure how much larger it can go and if it will even help.

I've been doing research on the cams and there's not a lot of reviews on them for our engines.

The 7G Accord uses a different mani and a DBW throttle body.
