I'd like to make it look finished. I think I can cover most of it with the door pocket and maybe use some JB weld and steel wool to fill in the voids. Maybe cover it with some resin or something. I'm even worse at upholstery than I am at fabrication.

Maybe just filler and then Super-77 some thick vinyl or even leather over it? If only you had leather seats to match...

Well, she's all legal. Title, plates, and insurance added today. I plan to drive it to work tomorrow.

It runs great. The only problem I have is that the 4th gear syncro is bad. I get a little grind if I don't double clutch 4th gear. I wish I had opened the trans up while I had it out and taken a look at things, but it's too late now. I'm not gonna drop the trans again for a while if I can help it. Maybe I'll address it the next time I do the clutch.

As others have indicated, quite the contrary really; some folks have been to the point of having the synchros replaced, or worse, the tranny rebuilt when they finally tried ACDelco Synchromesh Friction Modified (beware, there is also a non-Friction Modified version of Synchromesh as well, do NOT use that version). Funny thing, all follow up reports, even after an additional 100,000+ miles indicate the tranny is still shifting flawlessly (assuming a MTF drain/refill every 30,000 miles).

That said, were it me I'd buy a third quart of Synchromesh and use the Honda MTF to lubricate squeaky door hinges, pour into a hive of ground wasps, or even use it as a cure for dishpan hands; I just wouldn't put it in a Honda manual transmission.

Is it supposed to work right away or does it take some time. I just changed the fluid this afternoon and have only put a couple miles on it. Only got to 4th gear three times.

Crap! Serious bummer.
When I put the Synchromesh in mine it transformed the transmission in like the first 100 yards; not *quite* "right away", but pretty darn close.

There is a note that states: If replacement is required, always replace the synchro sleeve and hub as a set.
Does that mean you would have to purchase #3 ($407.73) Gear Set Counter-shaft Second; to get the sychros you need, and possibly #6 ($78.50) Gear, Counter-shaft Forth to remedy your issue?

No, don't mix them. It's a waste of the GMSMFM. You now have diluted fluid which really isn't doing what it was intended to do. It really is an all or nothing fluid change. Also, are you sure the viscosities are the same?

Back at it guys. I'm almost certain the engine and trans are coming out again. After all I've done, my wife isn't that impressed. She doesn't want to drive a second gen Odyssey for the rest of her life, no matter how awesome it is. I shoulda jumped on a chance to get cheap parts for the trans but I didn't, like a chump, so I'm going to be buying new. I'm going to open the trans up, like I should have before I installed it, to examine the damage before I order any parts, then I'm gonna rebuild it myself. I might find a different engine too. I haven't made up my mind if I want more power or better fuel economy. Either way, I'm guessing the 3.2L is gonna go. Feel free to post all the advice you've got regarding building a good motor.

I may have spoken too soon. Sometime shortly after my last post, my wife's van gave her troubles so she switched to the shiftervan. After a week or so of driving it, she loves it. I've got to investigate an intermittent P0335 code on her van that I think is related to a broken or shorted wire in the harness somewhere. I'm hoping to find it right away and punt that van down the road. It looks like I won't be pulling the drivetrain out of the shiftervan after all.

So I’m about to be doing a 6sp swap in an 03 Odyssey.. Do you have pics on how you mounted the clutch pedal under the dash? Also, I’m assuming the wiring is different t from 02-04 than it is the 99-01 Odyssey vans as far as green plug and using the CL harness to run the van.
