Recently purchased a 2016 RLX w/ Advance package with a navigation database that is a couple of years old. I purchased an updated Map DVD from the Acura Map Update website. The instructions says to "Insert the map update Disc 1 (Application Update) into the system's disc slot (Do NOT use the DVD player slot)". I searched under the seats and inside the trunk of the vehicle for a second DVD drive. Is there another place to look for the second drive or is the DVD update instruction incorrect and just use the DVD player slot? I could only imagine what the dealer would charge for updating. TIA...

No, you just insert it in the regular cd slot on the head unit.

It will read that DVD, and install the system and map updates.

Alright.... very good news, Maybe the NAV disc producer should consider updating their instructions to reflect using the CD slot in the head unit in absence of having a separate CD system slot. Thank you for the help...

Interesting that the system can read a DVD for this purpose. My understanding is that the audio system can only read MP3 files, etc. on CD media and not on DVDs... Does anyone know for sure if that's correct?

Just a follow-up in case anyone is interested: I burned some MP3s to a DVD+RW disc and it does play in my 2016 SH-AWD!
