1Louder--All great recommendations above. Actually, I posted my concern on a July 13 at 4:41pm post that Acura has on its Facebook page entitled "The #TLX has an alter ego that's serious about the accelerator." Perhaps we can get several people from this thread to post there and reinforce the issue. Several other people already have. I certainly agree that the TLX has an alter ego, but it's definitely not the race car that they've posted on Facebook!

You had also better believe that I will be commenting on the next post they make about the TLX on their main page. (Notice that thread was from July 13th.)

I am happy to see people speaking up about their dissatisfaction. The louder the crowd, the faster the fix.

Hi. One website where your opinions on the matter may be heard a little bit more is Edmunds.com. When I am researching about new cars, I read the expert and consumer reviews on that website. I'm sure a few 1-star reviews on Edmunds.com will catch Acura's attention. Here's the link:

Mike_TX, it seems that the issue may be finally fixed. This may be the update we have been waiting for:

Looking at the VIN range this TSB only applies to earlier built cars.

I don't know if the final digits are a car count, but the TSB goes to ...22024 - 22,024 cars? I bought mine in February and I'm 4298.

So, that aside here's what happened this morning. I was backing out of the driveway and about 3 feet into it the car slams to a halt - it was like I hit something. Then I got three errors - transmission, emissions and e-brake. None of the transmission buttons would respond (it's a SH-AWD Tech). After a while, the transmission reset and I could at least get the car into gear, but the emission and e-brake errors are there. I'm scheduling an appointment with the dealer right now - I'm also going to have them apply TSB 15-038 and 15-040. I'll report back on the failure and the results of the TSB when I can. I haven't done anything to the car since buying it so hopefully I can compare before and after on the transmission fix.

The way the car stopped suddenly I suspect the e-brake went off. But there's nothing comforting about that. I'm wondering now if I can even drive it in.

6 hrs at the dealership and they don't know what's wrong yet. They are "talking with engineers at Acura". Great.

As a side note, they gave me a the 4-cyl TSX to drive, and the 8-speed shifts are undetectable.

I believe you meant 4-cyl TLX..
Yes, they give me the new 2016 ILX , when my car got the update ,which I believe it's same 8 speed . Very nice as gearbox , the engine was a little bit weak compare with the V6. While ILX it's a nice car , it doesn't have the refinement of TLX.

Turns out I had a Transmission Control Module failure. Since it's not directly related to this thread topic, I started a new one to capture that experience.

https://acurazine.com/forums/problem.../#post15531533

I won't get the car back until early next week (they have to order the part), but when I do I'll offer some driving experiences on the 3/4 shift with the -038 and -040 SB's applied.

May as well have them look at the 041 TSB, too, I guess :

Well, I got my TLX back yesterday afternoon after having the 15-040 TSB installed, for the 2-3 "firm" shift. I hope others have a different experience than I do. The update has done nothing for my transmission. It feels exactly the same as it did prior to the update. This is frustrating, but I didn't have high expectations. The sad part is that ZF collaborated with Acura on this software patch. This leads me to believe the problem is NOT software based, as ZF has been announcing all along. This is probably a physical defect with the transmission itself, to some level.

My SA emailed me to tell me he installed the latest update on his V6 Tech and says the same thing.. he sees/feels no difference. Like me, he is also not happy with the dead feel of the pedal when coming out of corners.

I just hope Acura continues to work on this. This makes the 6th attempt on Acura's part to fix this. I was shocked that the TSB states "2-3 Firm Shift", and then absolutely nothing happened. If they think the placebo effect will work on us, they are mistaken.

I find it odd that they would have made this update and not tested it extensively. Surely it must be helping some of these transmissions. I just don't get it.

Since I have had the last update of 2 weeks ago, the 2-3 shift is softer, the 3-4 is much more pronounced.

If I was a betting man, I would say that this ZF unit will be gone from the TLX at the MMC and replaced by an in-house developed unit with a DCT.

This is from a credible source from a TV show (in French) that I watch every Sunday...This guy got this information directly from Acura Canada (that an in-house unit was being developed and this partnership with ZF was a stop gap measure).

I will not get a TLX until that ZF unit is gone...

Aside from waiting until they fix this with a software update, do we have other options?

Lemon law? Arbitration? Class action lawsuit?

My attorney states that in order for a class action to be successful, the majority of owners need to experience the same issue. I doubt this affects all of the 9 speed transmissions. I still wonder if newer builds have these same issues.

I read somewhere over on ToV that it is a 10-speed DCT they are working on.
