The more I look at above pic, the more I think it's what the new Acura grill should look like. A hint of the 3G TL/1G TSX, yet still "keen edge design-ish." Subtle, pleasant, yet not overpowering. With the above grill, NO mods would be necessary to said grill.

Sorry the grille is Acura signature now. After markets should eat the new grille styles up though. Hopefully it will be a quick change (few screws.)

A lot of these are reposts, sorry if you've already seen.

And don't worry, the TLX concept and Production TLX are almost right-on when it comes to their proportions.
like these very fashionable colors, Acura needs to improve the colors very much. The new MDX's are all very dim colors.

Yup. Apparently Acura has it in them to push that grill. It's definitely more toned down and less polarizing than before, but I think the original 4G TL OEM grill has given the beak...er grill, a bad rep.

IMHO I still think the above photoshopped grill is the way to go; a bit "Audi-ish" but yet Acura-like. The less bling the less negative comments. Oh well. Your move Acura.

Given how easy it would be for Acura to make a great looking car, I don't see why they'd curse it with the odious beak. Would it kill them to consider not beating it with a fugly stick? Just make two grill options - beak and beakfree. I keep my cars about a decade on average. Having the beak for 10 years is like driving around with the front panel with nothing but primer for a decade.

I would have loved it if the guy interviewing the Acura guy had asked him why given all the bad press and comments by consumers why Acura hadn't considered making it optional.

I have a feeling Honda is well aware that nobody likes their grill. They know that if they make it an option, no one would take that option. I think the reason for the grill is that the company wants to go for a signature look and they want it to grow on people, which it has over the past few years for me, but I would much rather have it without the beak. This may have to do with company pride, etc...

I would think the only reason they keep it is to make it a distinguishing character of the car. I agree the photoshopped versions in this thread are more widely-appealing, but it also makes it more closely resemble the Mazda 3/6 grill (than not).

Whether they agree with me or not they are aware people hate the beak. Infact some Acura dealers have gone out of way to paint their grills for free so that more people would buy their cars. Why do you think they reduced the size of the beaks?

It is a shame that is how they want to distinguish it - there are so many other ways I'd prefer they do it -
1. Best acceleration and MPG would be a nice character
2. Best NAV and most upgradable nav would be great
3. Best cooled seats
4. Least road noise...

I really hope they make an aggressive Aero Kit. I'm not sold on the nose of this car. The air intake looks too much like BMW (and not in a good way either......).

I think the beak has gotten a bit better, but I would still like to see Acura come up with something that looks aggressive without going overboard. For me the front of the NSX looks pretty awesome, and the chrome doesn't stand out, but blends well with the other elements.

For the guys doing the photoshops, keep it up. I like seeing the different colors and options. Could somebody post a picture of the White TLX above with the same rims but without the beak?

Also, I'm the top part of the grille runs completely horizontal, with the bottom angling down and meeting in the middle (5 sided essentially). I'm wondering what the grille would look like if the top of the grille angled down as well and mirrored the bottom portion.

Maybe I've missed it, but I'd like to see a 'shop of what the production car will look like, remove the big wheels, bumper caps and (possibly) side skirts. We know the sheetmetal/windows are done and I'm guessing the 'prototype' is wearing a future body kit option.

I still can't figure out why they decided to hide the exhaust.

I hope they bring it back for a future TLX Type-S

I like the clean look in the back.. well, I am trying to like/get used to it. I do like this look better than whan Lexus did withthe GS and LS with those openings in the bumper... but that is just me

I think their signature should be the Jewel-Eye LED instead of the beak, not only is it easily identifiable but it doesn't detract from the car/suv.

Thanks for posting these. I'm trying to figure out what I don't like about the production model vs the prototype. I cannot figure out if it's just the smaller wheels or if they toned down the lines a bit (shoulders over the rear wheels and mid-body ground effects, perhaps?).

What are you doing to this pictures besides rear exhaust and larger wheels? Just trying to decide if I get the TLX and then get larger wheels with a decent five spoke rim.

Thanks!

It's getting there. It's a challenge for sure. The rear is so plain, so there isn't much for me to work with.
