Car Wash

Baby got a bath today in a real car wash. I did not put it in the "car wash mode". Instead I left the seat belt on the drivers seat and told them not to take it off.
I worked!

Most of the car wash attendants here don't speak English, so it's hard to communicate with them. I don't trust them to understand not to unclip the seat belt, so I bought a seat belt extender on eBay. Works great!

Looks great! How do you guys read the license plates in California? It just looks like gibberish to me.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but your car looks to be Black Copper Pearl.

Yes it is Black Copper Pearl with a Cappuccino interior. And I blurred the plates so the Illuminati cannot find me.

How'd you get Cappuccino?? I was stuck with Expresso!

Great color combo.

I washed, clay barred and waxed mine last weekend

Stew4HD; FYI: Took my White/Espresso SH-AWD/TLX, in for detailing, 1 month ago.
Mgr. of the shop told me NOT to Clay, or Simonize, the paint; just Quick wax; claims it could harm the finish, 'cause the car was less than 6 months old.
Anyway, as you can see, it came out great!
$42, including Rug Shampoo

Pretty car!

I found this quote from Meguiare's:
virtually EVERYTHING designed to be used on paint for detailing purposes is 100% totally safe when used properly.

I always clay bar a new car myself within a week of buying it. The paint is soft when new and takes a clay bar just fine.
Funny thing is I tried to clay bar the TLX and got halfway though and decided it didn't need it. That's the first time that has ever happened to me. I don't know if the dealership did it prior to delivery or Acura is painting with some new kind of super paint. Needless to say I was surprised.

Not too familiar with "car wash mode" is this a TLX only feature?

And why would you not want them to un-buckle the seat belt?

This is the first I hear anyone doing this.

It has to do with the button shifter in the 9 speed. It will auto shift to park if it doesn't sense a driver.

This if the V6 models only. Since it is an electronic shifter, it is very intuitive. If you undo the seatbelt and open the driver's door, the car automatically shifts into PARK for safety reasons.

Car wash mode takes care of that. All you do it put the car in NEUTRAL and within 5 seconds turn the car OFF and it will stay in car wash mode (which means stay in neutral) for 15 minutes. This allows the car to move along the roller in a car wash

The original post went around this by leaving the seatbelt in which is a workaround.

Beautiful!
Since I'm so afraid something happens, I only go to those automated car wash places, they do a decent job.
