Blacked out all the chrome trim

Crappy iphone pics but I vinyl wrapped/blacked out all the chrome trim around my CBP/Expresso TLX today.

Subtle and hard to notice mod, but looks better than chrome trim IMO

Will post better pics once its finished and get a chance to take some if anyone is interested in seeing final product.

Tried to catch some pics of the final product but again my phone is crappy and the foggy weather isn't exactly helping either. Its a subtle mod and not noticeable to the regular person but its noticeable to me and I'm happy with it.

Definitely. Hard part is deciding if I want 20% all around, 20% front and 5% rear, say go hard or go home and do 5% all around.

Nice. I used blackout tape on my trim which worked great but thinking of redoing it with dip.

Thanks. The only thing I plastidipped was the front grille for now until a better solution comes out like a RonJon grille or "floating A" DIY pops up. As for all the chrome trim its vinyl wrapped.

imo, should've left the chrome A emblem undipped/uncovered. and the border of the grille untouched as well. would give it a little contrast outside of the "black" everywhere

nice job though.

Yep. Cheap mod no one notices but looks so much cleaner on black. Can you post a full 3/4 pic?

Getting my 2011 TL repainted Monday from the CBP checking defect so might have them paint all the trim while it's off. Otherwise vinyl works great.

Juls....Great job!! Not a huge fan of the grill being converted to black but certainly liked the trim around the doors/windows.

Sorry guys took so long to take a few more pics. But here's a couple more picture of the trim and some fresh tint.

Recently just picked up some coilovers, waiting to install until I decide on what wheels to ge and do it all at once.

Thanks for all the nice comments!

Whats up man, shot out from the other side of the bay. Car looks stealthy with the new trim.

Do you do interior wrap as well? Have some ideas for the new ride.

What type of black vinyl is that? Gloss, matte, satin? Sorry, it's a bit difficult to tell from the pictures

I'm planning on blacking out the chrome trim on mine. Nice to see some pics of your front grill.

Shout out from San Francisco. I just picked up mine from Serramonte on Tuesday

looks like gloss black 3M to me, its not super hard to do just time consuming and you need a squeegee, windex, and heat gun. Make sure the trim is cleaned before, I like to spray quick detailer on and then wipe with a clean cloth before wrapping

When you do this, the top is fairly easy to cut and tuck under the seal; however the bottom part, the inner side of the window chrome; has a hard piece of plastic that i dont think can be tucked in between the chrome trim. Did you just cut it or was there a way to squish it in between the trim and the plastic seal?

I used knifeless tape that I bought from Amazon. You just line it up with the black plastic that you're talking about. I wasted a good amount trying to figure it out myself, but this was the best method I found. I also want to mention that it would help to make it over lap the black plastic ever so slightly so when it shrinks it won't expose the chrome underneath. There are some videos on YouTube that help show you how to use knifeless tape the right way, as there is a learning curve to it.
