2016 Acura TLX Elite SH-AWD V6 3.5L

Hey guys! So i just purchased this car recently from the dealership and drove it off the lot here in Canada... Im looking to make some changes to it such as wrapping the car itself(matte white), getting rid of the chrome trim(making it black) as well as im looking for an air intake(max 400$) and im looking to switch the exhaust.. In particular im looking for a deep aggressive sound, but not super obnoxious that would be having the neighbours call in a complaint...

I was looking for your guys help in particular with an air intake and as well as the exhaust for this car.... The wrap and trim itself will be done by me and my brother who have wrapped plenty of cars so im not worried about that, but the other 2 components I need a great amount of help..
IF you guys could please leave some comments on your opinions as too what would give me a boost in performance as I want to hit the 300HP mark and a deep sound that could have some heads turning around!!!

Thanks again!

I would wait on the intake, as the stock cold air intake system delivers more air than the throttle body can allow.

if you truly want to hit 300;
- swap out the two primary catalytic converters for straight pipe, called PCD's. you can find them from https://rv6-p.com/
- then swap out the factory jpipe with an RV6 Jpipe from https://rv6-p.com/
- you can either head to Welcome to TruBendz - Mandrel bends, Exhaust systems, Downpipes and Mufflers and get their mandrel bent piping or have an exhaust shop fab you a mandrel bent custom exhaust. 3inch diameter piping has proven to see gains
-port and polish the intake manifold and have it bench tested.
- have a company regrind a cam with higher lift duration, etc. there's also another company that completely cnc's(I think) but expensive
- IF and big IF, IF there's a tune available, it would help smooth and add a little power. (but I doubt you have anything because the platform is BRAND new, meaning NO aftermarket support)

if you do all of those, you'll be close or at 300

We're only talking 10hp here, so I definitely think you should avoid the port & polish as it will probably give little gain for the insane price of labor.

The RV6 PCD's... If emissions are not a concern, go ahead. If they are, and you're going to do the downpipe too, you need to do the high-flow cats instead (RV6 makes both). The downpipe deletes the 3rd cat, so if you did PCD's, you'd have exactly zero cats, and would most likely fail any test.

For exhaust, if you want deep, aggressive sound that won't make your neighbors call the cops, avoid anything that looks like this:

If it's round like that, go the other way. Seriously. Your engine has a substantial amount of noise reduction:
-2 precats
-1 downpipe cat
-4 resonator things (in green)
-2 mufflers

You want something along the same lines as what you have now, minus the resonators. I've had great experience with Borla mufflers and mandrel bent tubing.

Hey,

Congrats on the new car! If you're looking for some performance upgrades we have a Jpipe and cat back exhaust system for your car! The Jpipe is made to eliminate a restrictive kink in the OEM piping, and offer gains between 20-25hp and 25-29tq. The XLR8 exhaust offers some performance gains as well, along with the head turning sound you're looking for! Everything is made here in the U.S.A from T304 stainless steel, on CNC'd machines to insure the best fitment and performance!

As far as intakes go, there aren't a ton of options on the market, but AEM is definitely the way to go. According to AEM it offers 12hp worth of gains, is easy to install, and (in my opinion) looks super clean when installed.

I'll include the links below so you can have a look:

Jpipe: JPIPE-UB3-AWD - XLR8 J-Pipe - Excelerate's Honda & Acura Store - Japanese Performance Specialist
Exhaust: EXH-UB3-AWD - XLR8 Exhaust Systems - Excelerate's Honda & Acura Store - Japanese Performance Specialist
Intake: 21-801C - AEM Cold Air Intake - Excelerate's Honda & Acura Store - Japanese Performance Specialist

And, a video of our exhaust can be seen here (just in case you were curious how it sounds) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXlEXDSuVRo

Happy modding!

Well there you go. I didn't know that exhaust was even available (maybe it's new). The video is great, thanks for posting a link.

One question: is that video with or without your PCDs?

They've been in development for a while just to make sure everything is perfect, but that's all wrapped up now, and we have the first shipment coming in real soon!

No PCD's there, the car in the video is running our Jpipe, with the XLR8 cat back system with the exposed tips.
