2018 TLX Problem???

Hi guys,

Was driving my 2018 TLX today, XM Radio on and suddenly music stoped, both screens turned off (completely black) and restarted after 5-10 seconds. Upper screen displayed AcuraLink logo and music resumed.
Is this a known issue? If it happens again I will bring the car to the dealer.
Thanks.

How long have you owned the car?
How many miles on the car?
Has the car been sitting in the garage without driving for a period of time?
Was this vehicle on the dealership lot for quite some time?
Do you drive this vehicle for just short trips, under 10 or 15 minutes?
Obviously, I'm thinking the battery could be low or defective.

On my 2015 there were certain addresses I could speak to the NAV that would cause it to reboot the head unit. I sure hope the PrecisionCockpit in the RDX and next gen cars is better than this head unit.

2018 TLX AWD Tech. I have had a few unexplained bugs with the audio system.

The most bizarre one was that there was no sound when XM was tuned in, but AM, FM and USB were working normally. Car was outside, so not a reception issue. I had to turn off the car a couple of time, then the problem went away.

I also experienced at least one random reboot.

Apart from a poorly designed interface, our audio unit is still full of bugs (that will likely never get addressed...)

2018 TLX Tech, 4,500 miles, bought it used few weeks back as a certified car (used to be a dealer loaner car).
I was driving for about 5 minutes before the screens turned black. It was not right after starting the car, however you may have a good point since I used the car only for short trips (10-15 minutes max).

Ok, that random reboot is what I had. So, looks to be a bug not related only to my car.
Same entertainment is used by many models (including Hondas) and they still have bugs after at least 3 years of production. Quite surprising for Acura/Honda.
Let's see if there are other guys facing the same issue. We can report it to the dealers and hope they will come up with a software update.

Having 2 screens is little awkward and confusing) initially but you get used quickly. I like them, no complains about having 2 instead of one LCD.
I agree the interface is poorly designed (bottom screen - audio).
And if you think about how much Acura's engineers might have accomplish by having 2 screens instead of one ...

I can say that I have had this happen about 4-5 times since I bought the car.

2018 Aspec AWD

Bought it with only 4 miles on it
Currently 14,500 mi

Same story of it happening after 5-10 minutes of driving.

I’m curious to see if there is a solution to the issue, but it’s not too annoying since it doesn’t happen very often.

UPDATE!:

Happened to me again last Saturday. Specific situation was:

iPhone connected using CarPlay. Paused music, then unplugged phone. Connected a different iPhone that has CarPlay disabled on it and about 5 seconds later both screens turned off for the usual 5-10 seconds then restarted. Phone connected in USB mode as it should and remained that way for the rest of the drive.

I think this exact thing has happened before if anyone wants to try this to see if it happens to them.

RDX system has been great so far. Had a few electronic quirks when the car was new, but they all went away. The very very slow infotainment system in my 15 TLX was a different story.

Spoke with the service guy today about my issue above and he claimed that is “normal” operation. If this is indeed true, I think Honda needs some better programmers.
