throttle delay

I have an AWD 2018 RDX Advance that I find has an issue with throttle response. When coasting to a stop or at least a near stop, say at a four way stop, and then looking to accelerate away, there can be a 1-2 second delay before the engine responds. Frequently I have by then pushed the pedal further than originally intended resulting in a quick chirp from the front tires. It is also disconcerting when you are counting on an immediate response. Has anyone else experienced this?

There's something amiss (other than not coming to a complete stop ) My '17 has zero lag and I don't recall ever seeing the issue mentioned on this forum. A trip to the dealer for some tech attention is in your future.

Cheers!

If I am stopped at a red light or stop sign behind another car, and I attempt to accelerate rapidly when the car in front begins to move, I also experience a delay. I think it is safe to assume that my delay is being caused by the collision mitigation system.

Does your delay occur every time you attempt to accelerate or only with other traffic around? Does the delay only occur during attempts of rapid acceleration? Are gentle starts also affected? Have you experienced the throttle delay during normal cruising speeds.

It is not caused by the collision mitigation, as it happens with no one around. It only seems to happen from a dead stop or very slow roll, following a coasting up to that point. Particularly aggravating when trying to change lanes in heavy stop and go traffic. Cruising doesn't seem to be affected.

To determine if it is caused by your transmission not downshifting when required, or if the problem is a lack of power being produced by the engine, try operating the transmission in pure manual mode so that no automatic shifting occurs (other than the mandatory from 1st to 2nd)

I'm wondering if there is an interface between the transmission and the electric throttle. It seems like there is NO response from the engine until the trans figures out what gear to be in. It is difficult to repeat but seems most likely to occur after coasting to a near stop when you can feel the trans engage to slow you down and then you get back on the gas. I'm kind of sure if I locked it into first gear it might not happen as suggested by RDX-Rick's post.

Clearly this is not normal. At this point, why not just bring it back to the dealer?

You can narrow it down to engine problem or trans problem by shifting the vehicle into neutral and giving it some gas. If the tachometer revs insync with the gas pedal then it's not an engine problem. If that's the case then probably a trans problem... slipping or delayed engagement.

Note, do the above test only when no other vehicles are around for obvious reasons.
