Odd Wind Noise
Good Day All,
I have been experiencing some odd wind noise which appears to be coming in from passenger side close to the B-pillar at speeds above 60 mph. I had the dealer check it out and they could find nothing wrong, but they heard it as well during our diagnostic drive. It is not a normal and consistent "whoooosh" sound, but more like wind coming in through a very small opening creating an inconsistent pitch of sound. If any of you have experienced this issue and or have a remedy, let me know. Thanks a bunch.

Car Crazy for Sure!
Take a piece of paper and close the door on it. See how hard it is to slide or move around. If tight in one area, move the paper to another and then another, until you've covered the entire area of where the door seals when closed. IF the paper is ever really easy to slide around then you have either....an improperly fitted door or a bad door seal.
When I picked up my new '08 Honda Accord Cpe...the first year of that new design....I had the same issue. The paper trick showed the problem right away. Both doors were not set right into the body structure. They were realigned under warranty and that was that.
I now have the last year of that body style, the '12, and first thing I noticed was how nice the doors fit and closed!! First year vehicles, even from good companies, can have issues. My '12 Accord Cpe. is much tighter, and the fit and finish is better than my '08 was.

Been three days and the weekend and the dealer still can't find out where this noise is coming from, but at least they hear it. I can't say that I am happy, not one bit.

Wind Noise Riddle Solved.
Good News,
The dealer finally found out where the wind noise was coming from, it was a plastic panel underneath the car. The dealer called Acura Tech Experts and they had them put washers on the six plastic "push pins". So after a week of troubleshooting, the solution was finally found, I hopes this helps anyone who has this problem and cares to fix it.

MPG999....Happy to hear the great news and THANKS for sharing the actual solution to the problem. It will enable other members to try that solution should they experience the same wind noise as yours was making....

2013 rdx wind noise in rear cabin
At highway speeds I hear the hissing sound as if air is leaking in to the cabin. I am going to have the dealer check out the exact thing you mentioned about the clips at the bottom to see if that is the root cause..will update.. I only have 200 miles on it

So I have not driven the vehicle at highway speeds to test it yet but the service folks claimed there was a flap under the vehicle that was causing the sound. They have since added few spacers to the cover and it solved the noise. I will update once I have proven that it works. So in short very similar episode to what was described earlier.

MGP999, Could you please take a picture of the plastic panel you mentioned? Mine is now making the same sound you described and I want to take it to the dealer and tell them what is going on. Thanks in advance!!!

The dealer never showed me the exact piece, they just described what they did. I did take a look under there but it was hard to pinpoint anything of significance. However, if you describe it to them and or just have them call the Acura tech support they should take care of it with no problems. Sorry, I couldn't be of more assistance.

mykey06 - its a black cover under the rear pass door. that is what the svc adv pointed out but I am skeptical of all serv advisors.
likely a fit issue being a brand new product and might get ironed out as they get feedback..my 2 cents

I think maybe a couple more on this forum have had this issue. I do know that some people may not be as sensitive to it through my own experience with different passengers. At least we have a quick fix for the people who have this problem.

Front bumper gap
Noticed something odd/interesting/disturbing this hot 105 deg sweltering afternoon in NorCal. The front bumper on the RDX where it curves on the sides is actually showing a 2 mm gap from the upper panel. I think its odd that the fit is so flimsy for a marquee brand. I am thinking of checking other RDXs to see if this is consistent. Chime in with your own observations. I am not sure if this is characteristic of the hot day but that would be even worse if the parts bend with the heat.

Just got back from the dealer and they fixed the issue. I just told them to secure the plastic panel underneath the car by the passenger side. Noise is gone. I am posting the diagram of the panel.
The circled images in red is the panel that needs to be secured. Here is the part number for it as well 74604-TX4-A00. They just need to put some spacer/washer between the panel and the body frame of the vehicle where the clips go.

it is observable on 75% of the product that is coming to dealerships oddly. Some have a better fit where the headlamp assembly fits - and the front bumper but 3 out of 4 cars I see the gap. Cosmetic mostly but for Acura bad QC.

at first i didnt hear any noise at all but lately i do....sounds like passanger window is open a bit ....maybe i am just imagining it because i read it here to such detail....
will leave it for now but as soon as i hear it again....i am going to the dealers with the diagram

Yes... I didn't hear it for the first few weeks. After I heard it, I took it to the dealer the next day and they took care of it for me. You just need to tell them how to fix it. There is no service bulletin for it yet.

So here is a short term fix for the noise. I won't get the car to a dealer for a couple of months so I took a small piece of cardboard and stuffed it between the plastic cover and the frame rail. Guess what. It worked! no more noise at speed.

Mykey06 - Thank you for your diagram and fix!! I couldn't pin-point the source of the noise.. Thanks to you, I mentioned it to the Acura tech while at the dealership yesterday and he added the necessary washers. He told me that a Service Bulletin had just been sent out regarding this very problem. (8/23/12)

So glad to see this post, I have the same issue with my 13 RDX purchased in August. Was driving me nuts, since the wet weather started here in Oregon, I have not heard it so much, but glad to know the fix. Thanks!

I had a hissing wind noise on 65+ near b-pillar on the driver side from the day one. I've taped entier door and drove on highway taking one string of tape at time. The problem is coming from the lower mounding on the driver side window. It seems like the the corner where moulding is touching plastic cover of the b-pillar makes air turbulent and works like a whistle on highway speeds. I wonder anyone noticed the same?
The front lower chrome moulding is designed quite different from other cars, it has deep groove near the window glass to collect water or dust.

"Noise coming from dash area - verified with customer found corner of lower splash shield loose - resecured"

TSB 12-026 Performed -- Still hearing noise
Can anyone who has had TSB 12-026 (Front Floor Undercover Rattles at Highway Speeds) performed still hear the wind noise? It looks like the part is attached in such a way that there are areas that would, by design, allow wind to pass between the undercover and the floor of the car. I'm wondering if this is just a design flaw and the sound will never be eradicated completely or if the tech who handled my car just did something wrong. I noticed my invoice says the new bumper clips are on special order. So maybe he just used the old ones, even though the TSB says to replace them with new parts? Even then, it seems that the simple addition of the washers should eliminate the noise.

As long as the 2013 has been out you would thing that Acura would have put out a bulletin on this! So Annoying! Beyond this, I have completed a ridiculous number of surveys after buying and each service. I love my RDX but the lack of high level communication about issues that customers would like to help solve, or at least get solved, demonstrates a disconnect between the pretense of corporate care and putting information into action.

The cheap flimsy panel under the engine is the cause of my road noise. I would like some more detail about how to put washers in the plastic clips/pins that hold it in place. Any washer? Plastic washer? Is the plastic clip/pin reusable once removed?
