Okay so I made a post here before about my Acura 2016 ILX. There is now a big time issue with this car. I purchased this car back in April and it was good up until about 2000 miles. The front brakes started squeaking when coming under 30 MPH. After being at the dealership the past 4 times in a month, they called me yesterday to tell me Acura knows about this issue and is currently in makes of coming out with new brakes and rotors for the 2016 ILX. When the service manager called me though I told him that with 3500 miles total and that this keeps happening, I don't want to wait around until a fix is in place. There is now time table.

I get a call back from the general manager this morning and they're working on a package deal for me about upgrading to a TLX. Anyone that has a 2016 ILX should really consider taking it back now because this is happening on every car. They gave me an ILX loaner with 1500 miles on it and it also had the same problem.

If you have any questions please let me know. Just looking out for my fellow 2016 ILX owners.
Hi im new to the forum and i just saw your problem. I have ilx 2016 with less than 2200 miles twice to the dealer complaining about vibrating and shaking but i didn't complain about the brakes, it squeaks every time as u said on lower speed. its my third month and im willing to do anything to get a different car, do mind sharing how did you upgrade to TLX and is TLX better?
please let me know

Print this out and hand it to the dealer you bought it from , the vibrating and shaking issue was the same on my car after they were replaced all is perfect , and if they replace them make sure to tell them any uneven ware on the tires is a direct result of this issue and the tires need to be replaced as well under warranty.

Let me tell you that on my 45 mile drive home, it happened 10 mins into the drive. It's an ACURA ILX problem so you can think what you want but ill bet any money you dont have an ILX 2016. If so, then you're deaf.

I live in redodndo beach California in LA. And the city is famous about stop signs every 100 feet. Speed limit is 25mph so imagine everytime I stop it squeaks. The most thing bothers me is 2016 ilx with little 2200 miles on it. If it was a 1989 civic I would say u get what u pay for ! Right
Why do we pay extra money for luxury cars, Isnt for safety, technology and peace of mind of maintenence/ breaking ?

Had mine replaced and they still squealed. Took it to Glendale Acura and they fixed the problem easily. Apparently the previous dealership did not properly apply grease to the brakes, which in turn cause the issue. Glad that ordeal is over with.

I also highly recommend Glendale Acura for anyone in the SoCal area. Talk to John (Service Manager) there. Awesome guy and fixed all of my issues with no questions asked.

Acura replaced both front rotors and pads, however looks like the noise is back after driving close to 3,000 Kms..

" Also, they asked me if I press brake pedal with my left foot because that can be a reason that caused rotor glaze. "

Oh, that's one of the goofiest dealership lies that I've ever heard. LOL!

I just had my front rotors replaced in Torrance, CA. Hopefully this is the once and only fix for that issue.

I had a slight squeak in my brakes so I took my car to the acura dealer in my city. Called me back about 3 hours later and I got new pads and rotors. I did mention the TSB to the service advisor when I dropped it off.

W'sup Azine, I do work at the acura dealership and here is an update for the brakes. So far I've had more than 10+ ILXs & other vehicles come in for the same problem. We installed the updated Front ROTORS and Front PADS and so far our customers are pleased with the new update. No Front Brake Noise.

I think I might be hearing some squeaking on my '16 ILX. It only has about 1500 miles on it so far. Good to know there is an easy fix for this. I'm printing out the TSB and will give it to them when I go for my first oil change.

Took my 2016 Tech to dealer for its first oil change and tire rotation at 6500 miles. Service writer came out to me and said that they were going to replace my front rotors and pads because they were covered by the service bulletin. I never noticed any noise before. Hope I don't hear any with the new parts. BTW they gave me a TLX loaner- I don't like the pushbutton gear selector AT ALL!

When I get to my first oil change, I'm going to bring a print out of the service bulletin and take it to the steering wheel, so they know exactly what I want them to do.

I just got my car in may 2016 and I'm getting a horrible brake noise. I was also planning on going with my first oil change. I'm already at 2380. I'll print out the bulletin as well. But it's definitely a pain when you're driving all you hear is that horrible squeak when stopping for a brand new car...

Wonder why new rotors and pads squeaked before the service bulletin? Used a cheap manufacturer perhaps?

Got my car in April 2015. I never noticed any noise. When dealer tech was rotating tires he evidently checked code on the rotors and they replaced. I didn't have to ask.

Good to know service techs are doing their job right.

Would be nice to know why SOME were having the squeaking issue. I'm sure it's not just happening on SOME ILX but other Honda/Acura models as well.

At least this service bulletin will fix this quote "i mean if you really think about it.... metal stopping metal.....theres bound to be squeaks somewhere."

I finally made an appt for my car last night and requested a loaner work. I mentioned the bulletin and stared the car sounded horrible when breaking. They called me 6 hours lated and replaced the rotors and pads with no questions. It was driving me insane. Im so happy to finally get rid of the noise.

The squeak has started to be consistent now and it's quite annoying. Already have an appointment on Wed to fix this.

Just wondering if anyone who has had their rotors and brakes replaced had the squealing come back? If so how long after? Mine has come back after 7,000 mi. I hear them at almost every stop. It"s freaking annoying. I feel like getting rid of it.

2013 ILX. Never had much noise until rear pads went bad. Replace pads and rotors nearly a year ago, no squeaking still. Never was before though.

Front pads and rotors replaced about 2 weeks ago ones front started making normal wear noise. No noises since but never any before.

I am still curious as to why some ILXs saw it and others never did. Maybe weather had a lot to factor in some ILXs in certain areas only saw it. When I spoke to the Acura tech at Valencia Acura he said said there was a recall or warranty on the breaks for squeaking but he has yet to see anyone need their brakes replaced for it in my area. I told him my brakes were starting to squeak but I believed it to be normal wear. He asked about my mileage and was surprised they hadn't worn down already so that noise was normal "time to replace your pads" squeaking.

When I replaced my front pads and rotors the mechanic told me the front rotors I was already having them replace were getting massive hot spots and starting to form cracks. So maybe the rotors Acura shipped the ILX out in are just crap rotors. I felt wrapping a long time before swapping them. So clearly they arent the best rotors.

I'm currently in a 2016 ILX Tech Plus ASpec as a loaner. I've driven the regular 2016 ILX/ILX Tech Plus before with no real issues (Although both of those were with less than 300 miles). But this car I have is crazy with its brakes squealing with 2700 or so miles! Also the car seems to be very shaky at highway speeds. I like the car overall, but I thought I'd resurrect this thread to tell about my experience

My brakes are squeaking also. Dealer said they will order new brakes/rotors. Will have them install tomorrow. Let's hope it fix the problem.

I also had the squealing brake issue when I bought my ILX in Feb 2016. Dealer performed the TSB and problem fixed.

Pads and rotors 2x in 36000km

All pads were replaced by dealer at 12000km. At that time, front rotors were replaced and rears were machined. Brought it back in at 36000km (late, because the dealer is a long way from where I live and involves taking a ferry), all pads replaced again...rear rotors replaced and fronts machined. Not impressed. Had my 2006 Civic for 10 years and replaced rear pads ONCE in 200000km! I use my paddle shifters in this car and dont even brake as much as I used to!

Will they still replace rotors on a 2016 under this TSB? It's time for me to replace my pads (70k miles) and if they will do it for no charge - that would be awesome!

...or was this only for new ILX's having the issue?

I have 6500 miles on the odometer but mine started squeaking around 3000 miles or at least that's when I first noticed since I drive with my windows up bumpin my system 80% of the time. I wonder if they would replace mine as well.
