I have no idea. Most weekends are 20-30 miles and i don't really mind it. It takes a couple hours to do and then i go about my day. Sometimes i pace someone who is looking to get miles in or i just need a reason to tire myself out.

As part of my training run on Sunday, i ran 9 miles and then ran a 10k in 42:30 and then 2 more. I finished 12th overall but 5th in my age group. This kind of crap happens all the time. I have finished 5th overall and was 4th in my age group. the 30's and 40's are extremely competitive. This is the kind of thing i would do in a normal day. I am pretty quick, but some of these guys are really fast.

Keep it up, you should be able to hit 1,000 miles by the end of the year. This is how it all starts.

I’m so far behind starting to get in shape for the Cap 10K April 8. I’ve probably done about 10K all year.

As of today, I have put in 288 miles so far this year. Using a Julian date of April 4th as day 94, and dividing 1000 miles by 365 (=2.74), if I multiple daily run average of 2.74 miles times day 94, I get 257.56 miles so far this year is what I should have run. I'm exceeding that by 30.5 miles now. Right now I'm on pace for 1,118 miles for the year.

I did your 275 goal divided by 3 months x12 = 1100. simple, booyah!

Learned today I can pull a sub 50 min 10K out of my ass any given Sunday.

49:35, and I had a cold this year again too. Looking forward to a healthy 2019.

Funny thing, when I went to do the math on my pace, I used 49.6 min, adding a second to my time to make it round. Putting that over a 10K comes out to 8.00 min/mile.

I did 44:44 last year. I think I could get below 7 min/mile, but it won't go much further than that. Sub-43 min would be my life time running goal.

2018 Boston marathon.......done.. it was cold at the start and windy, like 20-40mph winds. Oh yeah we had some showers too. Sometime showers, mostly downpours. My journey started October 2016 with a 3:10 qualifying run at monster mash in Dover Delaware.
This past week rolled on with not so good weather conditions. I was complaining all weekend, but knew i had a job to do.
it wasn't seriously wet on the walk with Katherine Shank up to the bus to take us to Hopkinton. Luckily it took a while. It was pouring one we got there and there was a lot of mud in the athletes"village". It's really a big circus tent with everyone packed inside like cattle. Since we took a late bus, we didn't hang around too long. I changed to dry shoes, socks and thick bags over my socks to keep them dry.

We had to walk about 10 minutes to the start and line up in our corals. I was in coral one so that was pretty cool. I was with all of the fast people.

I was in awe, I was at the starting line with some really fast runners. I was there to have fun and not really go for time. I had kept pace for the 1st 8 miles and slowed down when my garmin was acting up. Plan b was to run by feel. I was here to enjoy myself as other river runners had reminded me too.

I may have been enjoying myself but it was still hard work. the runners and fans were awesome and provided much needed adrenaline. I got to high five the girls at wellesley college. They were very loud!
I stopped at every other water stop. I stopped to get water and drink it. The only other issue i had was when i had to adjust the drawstrings on the gear bags that were wrapped around my feet. I couldn't get my glove on since my hand was wet and cold and my glove was soaked.

I did run up heartbreak hill and the other one or two bigger ones. I had slowed things down enough to run them and not be exhausted. there were a couple points after 21-22 miles where i wanted to walk about 100 feet or so just to take things in.

Once you see the huge citgo sign, you know that you're close. Once i turned onto hereford st and made that wonderful left onto Boyleston, i knew i was there. The crowds were so loud and supportive. From the excitement and emotion i actually started to hyperventilate. I was like wtf is this???? That was a first.

It was extremely emotional and a hard fought day. If i could get here, anyone could accomplish any of their goals. It was a cold walk back after getting my gear bag and a long hot shower was so nice.

We went out to eat and i got a fat burger, fries, beer, and a ben and jerry's ice cream come.

Awesome job! Must have been something special to experience, even in adverse weather conditions.

Just curious, what was your finish time?

Thanks. I ran a 3:33. My goal was to relax and enjoy the race and to not be competitive. It really was one of the best things i have ever experienced. The weather sucked, but that just made it more badass.

I went out for 4 miles yesterday and 7.5 today and feel pretty good. Not much is sore except for my right calf. The miles i am putting in are slow and low. I may, just may run another in a month. I may even train for another in the fall.

Thanks Ravi. That's about my 1 way commute to work right now. I must be really stupid right now to even be thinking about running another one somewhere in a few weeks.

So the guy who won the Boston Marathon ran a 2:16, putting him at just over 5 min/mile (5:11 to be exact).

I think that’s about how fast I could complete a half marathon.

I just surpassed 600 miles this morning. Today is Julian calendar day 200, so I'm averaging exactly 3 miles per day. I'm 19.3 days ahead of schedule for 1,000 miles.

Julian day 208. 630 miles so far. Average is 3.03 miles per day. I should have 569.86 miles so far, so that means I'm 21.90 days ahead of schedule. By the end of this month I should have 650 miles for the year, 350 miles to go.

I just hit 792 this morning. I will hit 800 on Wednesday morning. I'm hoping to have at least 810 by October 1st. I would then have 92 days to complete 190 miles.

Quick Reply: Started running again
