I run all the time, hike trails, and do tons of push-ups, sit-ups, and pull-ups and I am still sore from snowboarding every time I go.

I just went ahead and bought a set of Bowflex Selecttech 552's from guy off craigslist and got a pretty decent deal. They still weren't cheap, but for price it couldn't be beat.

Look on craigslist. Are you set on having an adjustable set like that?
If not you could probably find some used dumbbells for dirt cheap if you were just wanting a few. Maybe 15, 25, 40? It all depends on what you want, and what you're looking to get out of it. You don't need a full set of dumbbells to do P90x, but I got the Bowflex one for convenience and virtually having a full set of dumbbells right there.

Look on CL, used fitness equipment stores, and resale shops. You're bound to find something....

The bands are really effective, You could also buy the weights as you progress. I have some weights and plan on doing the same thing.

Craigslist is good for inexpensive weights. Play It Again Sports is also another relatively inexpensive option.

I dont think thats too high. I would ideally like a bar to be that height at min. Unfortunately i dont have a celing in my house that high other than my vaulted celing in my living room

I'm about to do my first workout.
Today is the beginning of my 90 days.
I'm even going to follow the diet as close as possible. Bought a shitload of groceries today. After I finish my workout, I'm gonna be making a lot of food to prep for the rest of the week at least.

Only thing that may...or may not suck, is the week which would be my 3rd week of the program, I'm going on a cruise. I'll be in the gym probably almost every day for a little bit, but the food is gonna be tough. I know I won't follow it there.

Needless to say, I'm not going to count that as a week completed in the program. I'll just pick up with week 3 when I get back.

For some reason my laptop doesn't want to read the P90x DVD's. It's not the drive cause anything else works.

I stick the DVD in, and it spools up and down around for about 5 minutes (which during that time won't let me eject it via any method I'm aware of), then ejects the disk itself saying it's blank.

I don't want to use my TV cause given time, the time bar will eventually burn into my screen.

it works on my Lenovo just fine when I have to travel for work.

Also, unless your plasma is brand new, or has not been broken-in properly, I wouldn't worry about burn-in. It's no different than watching ESPN for an hour a day...

I've had it since the beginning of December. I've been using it a fairly good amount, but it's not on 24/7. You think that'd be long enough break-in?

I see you started a thread over in Electronics where you'll get better advice, but information could be television specific. Regardless, assuming your watching other programming on your Plasma other than P90X, you should be just fine. Plasmas are pretty resistant to burn-in these days. A far cry from early plasmas...

I'm starting the second phase today. In the first 4 weeks I lost 18lbs (223-205). The diet takes some getting used to but now it's second nature.

18 lbs. in 4 weeks is AWESOME! Congrats! I'm just trying to lose 15 lbs. in 12 weeks and that's hard enough...

And it's true, once you get used to the diet, you really don't miss the food you're no longer eating. There's nothing about this diet that is particularly bland or disgusting - it's just different.

A friend of mine loaned me the last 6 discs. So far into day three and I can say that I should receive some additional results from this along with my regular work out routine. Now to get a pull up bar. At 6'4 215lbs I am afraid I will either have my knees on the ground or that it won't fully support me.

Yes, I'm naturally a thin guy who has a hard time gaining weight. The only way to gain weight for me is to gain muscle, and P90X def builds muscle if you work hard. The 15min Ab ripper, 3 times a week will kill the mid-section fat in no time. The hardest part in the beginning will be having enough energy after your workout to do the ab-ripper though. You may want to do that first in the beginning....

Sounds vicious.... I think I'm just gonna start doing it on my own since my friends are some lazy asses. My goal is to lose this beer belly, lose the mantits and get back my pecs and abs, things I haven't had since high school. Probably will end up gaining weight

I remember when I would go all out with the calf raises at the gym.... heh. When I had to drive home my left leg ended up shuddering like hell.

So Yoga X is boring as hell.
I'm going to try to stick through it as long as I can, but damn I hate it. Not because some of the things are difficult (because they are). It's just so slow and they do so many of the same moves over and over again. Add to that, that Yoga X is an hour and a half and the dread continues.

Anyone replace it with Cardio X or X Stretch. I want to stick with it as long as I can cause I've heard some people regretting they didn't stick with it once they completed the program. Others say they don't think doing a different workout really hurt them. So

I run 30-60 minutes instead of Cardio, Yoga and Stretch exercises - I've honestly never even watched the videos, so I can't tell you if I regret it or not, but I can't imagine I would. My results are coming along nicely.

Read through the whole thread. And holy shit there are some big mo'fo's in here. I'm no manlet (5'11"); but ffffffffffffffuuuuuuu- at the amount of people over 6'2".

I've always worked out with the exception of the last 8 months. I slipped a disc in my neck that sidelined me for awhile, and then got stuck into some really bad eating/drinking habits.

I went from a solid 185lbs (around 9-10% BF during cuts) to a flabby 215lbs (22-25% BF)--biggest I've ever been and being 33 doesn't help matters.

If I change my diet and get through this 90 days, I can easily see myself losing 30+ lbs.
