True, so if you have been working out for 5 years, then what are your big threes?

I think I'm going to start after hitting my goal. I'm already on a roll with my own diet and once I reach my 177 goal, I will most likely start with P90x.

Yesterday was my second day of P90X. Pylometrics. That workout was pretty tough. I'm really surprised by how sore I am. I'm enjoying P90X so far, the workouts have good variety and are challenging.

You will, but as you're getting ass kicked, remember that the same work-outs you are starting with, are the same ones you are ending with... Just STICK WITH IT and do your best. And as they are always telling you, write everything down. It's very interesting to see how far you've come between Day-1 and Day-90.

I'm currently on Day ~70 of my second time through the program. Down another 10lbs and looking/feeling pretty good!

Yeah, I tried that, but found that you actually have to mimic the movements to get any benefit. Simply watching does not help much.

Good Luck!

Hey I know this question has probably been asked countless times before, but with that chin up bar is there a chance the whole thing will leave pressure marks or anything on the door frame it mounts onto? I'm sure there's padding and all, but I still feel like I should ask.

P90X sure looks like a great work out, but I don't think I'd have the motivation to do it. I cut my diet down to about 1400-1600 calories a day and play 40 min of basketball 4 times a week, and at my school I do boot camp for 1 hr twice a week. I mix that in with weights 3 times a week. Started about a month ago and lost about 7 pounds so far. I think it's really diet and just get moving.

All you need is enough motivation to get started, once you start seeing results, both in the mirror and on the scale, you wouldnt want to stop. Good luck.

Everyone pretty much loses weight by some formula of diet and activity. It's just a different ride how to get there. P90X is just one of those ways. Likely more effective than your workout, Renegade but not as fun as bball.

That's great! If what you are doing works for you, stick with it. I agree, it all about diet and getting off the couch and doing something. If I still had a gym membership, I probably wouldn't be doing this a second time around. I LOVE playing pick-up ball and using a full weight facility. BUT, my membership is on hiatus right now and P90X is what's working for me outside the gym. Motivation usually isn't an issue for me, so I've been able to stick with it pretty easily and get some pretty impressive results.

Been doing this for about a year now and Ive gotten awesome results. Mainly because I don't have to motivate myself to drive to the gym and can do it all at home. The first 90 days I was doing the 6 days a week (never did the Stretch disk), but now I've made up my own slightly less intense routine with the disks and do a more manageable 5 day workout.

Starting tomorrow I'm doing a hybrid of P90X & Insanity. Insanity looks like pure cardio and/or bodyweight... but I want to also lift to help my upper body. I'm going to try and do doubles on the weekend, and singles during the week with Friday off. Will definitely be keeping track of my results. Was 168 on 07/11/09 (my wedding).. I am now 188 so I need to drop those 20lbs again

Wow, I could not IMAGINE doing anything else WITH Insanity...

I mean, they don't call it "Kind of Wacky", they call it "Insanity."

Kudos to you if you can do that! You will get huge and tiny at the same time!

I take this is a no? Also, I see a lot of the typical results are from people who are a bit overweight. Myself I'm a bit tall and kind of skinny. Is p90x more oriented towards people who are trying to lose weight, moreso than people who are trying to build muscle? I mean, what's the ratio between cardio and body building/muscle building with this, and is it ideal for someone who is just looking for extra mass?

P90X will do what you want it to do. If you are overweight then you need to adjust your calorie intake while working out. If you are already lean/skinny and want to gain muscle mass then you will have to eat more.

Losing weight and gaining mass are primarily based on calories in and calories out. If you want to gain mass with P90X then you can do it.. just have to make sure you're eating enough of good stuff that your body will put on more muscle.

Ahh, well that makes sense. I was just trying to see if this is good, or would I have a bigger benefit from a different type of program. But then again this kind of seems like it covers all bases for physical fitness.

I'll definitely look into this

I would've answered if I saw this sooner...

I have the iron gym pull up bar. It doesn't make any pressure marks on the door frame. It's padded at the contact points. Although I just looked and it does leave a black mark from the padding...

Been considering getting this.
Joined LA Fitness back in Oct or Nov and have been starting to notice results. I don't feel like the workouts I've been doing are inadequate, but I wouldn't mind having a program like this that packages everything together for you. And it's obviously a proven program so .

Only thing that is keeping me is the need to get other stuff. Pull up bar is fine. I've never been a big fan of resistance bands, but that's what I would probably get if I got this program. I checked prices on things like the Bowflex Selecttech dumbbells. ~$350 or so off Amazon. Granted...would probably be that much or even a lot more for a full "normal" set, but damn.

Idk.
Still thinking about it...

You don't need a full-set by any means. I only have 25's, 30's and 40's and I get by just fine - I rarely use the 40's...
