Are there a lot of exercises that require me to jump around? I remember seeing exercises on the infomercial that had people jumping. I'm worried because I live on the top floor of an apartment building and there is an old lady below and well....you guys know how that goes

yes. A lot of the warm ups, and plyometrics require some sort of jumping moving movement.

Just to update, week 2 is finished, moving on to week three tomorrow.
I can't say I'm seeing a HUGE difference, but it's still early, and I'm still working on eating better/fewer meals more times a day. I've also noticed in increase in my flexibility.

Phase 1 (weeks 1-4) are complete!

I'll have some day 30 pics up probably tomorrow with a brief overview of my experience thus far.

Hopefully it's coming along nicely!

My second time around has been SO much easier when you know what to expect and I've been seeing great results on top of what I achieved the first time around.
Unfortunately, I've suspended my second round of P90X halfway through to focus on getting ready for a 10-mile race I'm running in Oct. I'm still gonna lift once, maybe twice a week and Plyo will still be on my list once a week because it's a GREAT leg exercise, but I need to focus on running for the time being. I'll start P90X again 90 days before my spring vacation though.

Would this be a good program to start if I'm pretty skinny guy? I eat a lot but I have a crazy fast metabolism.

Well here are my 30day pictures. The results aren't crazy, like the ones you see on the actual commercials, but I can definitely tell I have slimmed up a bit.

To be completely honest, my eating habits are not were they should be. I have gone from 2-3 BIG meals to about 3-5 smaller meals. I want that number to be 5-7 small healthy meals in a day.

I'll get some actual numbers (weight, body fat %) either later today or when I decided to buy a body fat measuring tool.

Overall I'm happy. I have faith in myself and this program. The next 60 days should be interesting.

Well actually my friend xblur has been doing the workout w/ me since day one. I would say he's a pretty skinny guy, fast metabolism, no excess fat, etc..
The program can work, I would suggest maybe skipping the workouts that involve cardio though, and of course taking protein drinks that are high in healthy fats...

Edit: for a better "effect" look at the day one pics first.

P90X was much more effective for me and much easier for me to follow than the Zone diet.

Is this a serious comment?

One is an exercise program - one is a diet.

The OP talked about needing to improve his diet.

The Zone Diet is extremely effective (if you have the will power). It's not one or the other - it's both - and it's a life-style change on both ends.

It's geared for optimum athletic performance...

NP, if counting Zone Block's is overwhelming, at least follow the guide that they recommend in regard to food choices .

Doing a Paleo diet is a pretty easy way to do it. Don't have to count portions and it will have you eating healthier.

And to say P90X is more effective at improving health and lower BF% is ludicrous.

I tried the zone diet but I work in camp most of the time so its easier for me to eat Paleo and not worry about portions.

That's cool. I don't count portions either. I generally follow paleo/zone. Body fat is around 7-8% @ 170lbs.

Before I started I thought I would go crazy without the grains - but not even close. The increase in healthy fats and fruits/vegetables does wonders.

I wouldn't expect a ton of change at the 30 day mark I thought that the program was just supposed to be getting your body acclimated and the 31-60 61-90 day periods are really supposed to start getting you stronger/more lean.

P90x is a great tool to use for people who haven't really gone through a cross-training/fitness program.

But I will say, that in order to get the results you see from the people who they put on the infomercial, you MUST follow the diet they provide. I have friends who completed the 90 day program but didn't follow the diet, and while they were stronger and slightly leaner, they didn't have the washboard ab bodies.

I have p90x as well and its a good exercise regimen, but having participated in some college athletics, its nothing new.

I dropped p90x after about 3 weeks. I'm 5'11 145 lbs, and I was looking to put on mass. P90x didn't help me much since I was already pretty lean (7% body fat when I began the program), but didn't really do much for my muscle mass, so I dropped it and I'm planning to go back to weight lifting.

Keep posting results though, its always good to see threads like this.

Yea you need more mass than anything and if you keep up with your diet you wont have any problems.

I'm 5'8" 153~ right now and I'm looking to hit 160 with a 7-8% body fat before I consider my goals met.

I'm guessing you played ball or ran track in college?

Yeah, 100m dash for track and I was on the practice squad for the Bball team - no where near good enough to be considered first rate in either. I did it more for the fun of it and to get priority in being able to pick my classes.

Also did a ton of Intermural basketball. Now I'm stuck in an office 8 hours a day and after I get off, I don't want to do anything. So I need an exercise regimen now.

Same boat man.... I look forward to getting off work just so I can do something (run/lift). I almost want to work construction or some shit just so I'm at least active during the day.

Makes sense since with these videos it's up to the user how hard they want to work out, where with a trainer they get motivation from you to push it harder

Hmmm.
Is this program geared towards any one particular goal (besides getting in shape), or does it have some amount of "customization".

I know many people have used this program to lose weight and gain muscle.

For me, I'm already relatively slender (6'3", ~190 pounds). I'm looking more to bulk up rather than slim down. To be honest, I'm not really looking to "slim down" much at all. Just build.

Lol.
That's my only problem though.
I worked out while in high school, but it was mostly cardio. I didn't do any intense lifting, so I don't know a good solid routine that would be good for me and geared towards my goals.

My way out? Something like this where all the "work" (in terms of the workout material) is already done/planned out for me.

(Went past edit time...)

EDIT: I'm ready to get into SOME kind of workout routine gearing towards building muscle....I even originally thought I could use this as a supplement to a routine I could do at the gym, but after researching it a little more, it sounds like this program is really intense. Doesn't sound like this would/could be a "supplement" program at all. That's great, but if I could be doing even more for myself with a better routine just working at a gym, I'd rather do that.

Just need to actually find out if I could be doing a better routine.

it's always good to change things up tho... even if you're into full on bodybuilding... it does NOT hurt to do some plyometrics/Crossfit/P90 stuff on the side.

im 6"4 225, im not fat at all more muscle than anything. More of a natural muscle frame. I just started workin out in the gym at work lifting weights and using the weight machines as well as ab machine and row machine. I want to tone up a little more. Anybody think p90x would be good for that or should I just focus on more cardio like running, biking etc?

I was thinking the same thing, it looks like a good program but not for the guys who are already skinny with a low body fat %. I'm 6'1 and 150 pounds so I'm trying to get at least 160 pounds.

The only time I really gained any mass was from going to the gym 5 days a week and just lifting and eating. Put on about 9-11 pounds in 2 1/2 months. I'm guessing you have a crazy fast metabolism right??

Some what, but its starting to slow now. You're 22, you wont feel your metabolism falling until you're about 25.

I'm 27 now and combined with the fact that I sit in my office for 8 hours a day without moving, I can no longer eat whatever I want whenever I want anymore and expect that I'll naturally burn it off.

But yeah, I don't think becoming overweight or obese is an issue for me. I haven't hit the gym in 6 weeks or so and still eat poorly (fast food) and I've actually lost weight. Which is a bad sign cause I'm definitely losing muscle mass.

Essentially, it's a full book of what you can and cannot eat during those 90 days. So to say it's just an exercise program is false to say the least.

...but I'm sure you already knew that.
