^I've been close. I have to be extra careful what I eat on squat or deadlift day. Sadly $1 tacos are on squat days

The worst is holding it in deads because then you can't really drive with the hips and your lower back takes over. All around bad

It's worse on sumo since you spread your legs apart. Harder to squeeze to hold it in

Any updates? did you short circuit in December like I did. I was fitting into my thinnest pair of jeans before Thanksgiving and then....yeah. This past week, I leaned back out pretty quick. Got a compliment I lost weight but they probably got used to December fat me.

I somehow fit into a pair of 30W chinos the other day. It was the highlight of my day. For the past 3 years I'd been wearing 32-33

Even sometimes had to use the hair tie trick for 31W pants. A girl showed me that if you looped a hair tie around the button, through the button hole, then around the button again, you could buy yourself another inch (if only it were that easy for other things)

Definitely gained weight (read fat) between Thanksgiving and New Years.

bulked up to 208lbs

working on a cut again. It’s slowly coming back down.

gonna try hard to cut this year and get my body fat down.

last week I tested my max for my lifts to get a baseline on where I am for 2019.

Squat = 385. Probably could’ve gotten 390-395 but I jumped to try 405, was able to get out of the hole but then I died.
Bench = 260 (competition style)
Deadlift = 405 (tried 420 next but couldn’t lock out)

My deadlift has definitely been lagging and regressing since I changed my stance up 3 months ago.
2 weeks ago I changed it back to my old stance and I’ve started seeing some progression.

I played with my form all last year and my lifts went down. My original form was always the best.

I won't even write my goals but honestly, this past year was to get leaner and healthy and mission accomplished. Passed physical last month including cholesterol which was the only outlier in the prior year. Probably will continue to focus on leaning out with the cardio after rather than going balls to the walls on weights.

My shoulder has been bothering me, I think rotator cuff so my bench has plummeted. I think the heaviest I hit last year was 275 but the year before that 330. Plus weight loss hurts bench a little. I can't keep up with these 20 somethings. I know one dude reps 405 bench like nothing and another was squatting 495x6. Don't think I can hit those without some serious gear so meh to that.

Yea... there’s this Chinese guy I know at my gym.

hes probably 10 years younger than me but For his conventional DL...
He warms up with 3 plates.
Does 4 reps.
Goes to 4 plates.
Does another 4 reps.
And then bangs out a 5x5 at 495
and he doesn’t bounce the weights.

for bench he warms up at 2 plates and then does like a 5x8 at like 355

Ohh yea he does this all with no accessories.

No belt. No straps. No wrist wraps etc.

must be nice.

only thing for him is that is back squat sucks.
his max is 300. But that’s cause like 5 years ago he injured his back and has a mental block on squatting.

I’ve decided against this. Won’t be ready.

im aiming for a meet in May.

Should be plenty of time to cut and build strength.

Maybe drop down to the 83kg (182.984 pounds) weight class

Any of you guys have an Apple Watch and use a fitness tracking app for it? Mainly for weight lifting.

I don't want to carry a little notebook around to track my reps nor do I wanna dig my phone out every time. Narrowed it down to strong and gymaholic, will try something tomorrow

I have a Fossil smartwatch but don't really track. I know my lifts by memory but yeah I should write it down to push myself. I just can't commit yet...

I have the strong app on my phone but I don’t use it

i just record everything onto the stock Apple notes app.

I can’t wear my Apple Watch during my heavy working sets since I’m using wrist wraps or straps.

I had an old Motorola 360 Smartwatch that I would wear while training. If I was doing something like light deadlifts or bar rows, it'd break off since your forearm expands a little when you squeeze hard and lift heavy shit. From then on, I take off my smartwatch to lift. The only apps I use are the timer and Spotify.

One day I'll get back to the point where I need to wear my weight lifting belt and wrist straps again smol boi problems

I would remember my weight before, but as I'm just starting out again it's hard to remember all the exercises and rep weights and quantities.

The idea of a timer for the next set is nice too. I sometimes get distracted in a conversation or by eye candy and forget to start again.

You'll be surprised how long people talk for especially a chatty dude. I typically take 3 minute breaks for the main lifts and even that might be enough time between the initial take off the belt, reset the timer, I'm tired rest, changing the weight, walk to the paper towel dispenser and back, roll on the roller to loosen up, change the song, put on the belt again, and get in position.

Don’t feel like I’ve gotten much gains.
but I’ll be testing them next weekend with my gym buddies

also changing up my programming.
3x5 at 85-90% just isn’t enough volume.

gonna be doing a volume block. 4x8 at 75-80%

I’m aiming for:
S 395/400
B 265
D 430

Damn, still pretty impressive man.

I'm not dedicated enough, so I'll be satisfied with hitting the 500 lb club

A year or two from now might be different, but I'm aiming to go to the gym at least 3-4x a week, forever. I've only had phases where I would go 4-5x a week but only 6-12 months at a time.

Holleeeee looking back at my old posts. I havent just plateaued.. I hit a damn wall.

My maxes are really close to my numbers from April of last year!

Currently:
S: 385
B: 260
D: 415ish (struggle bus with this one )

Anyways I’ve kind of noticed this so I’m reformulating my programming since I’ll be trying for a meet at the end of May.
Starting a volume block with 4 or 5 sets of 8-10 for about 1.5 months.
Then a strength block for a month.
then finaly hopefully a peaking block up until the meet

Gonna need more than a miracle to get my numbers up a significant amount by the end of May

Bench = 255lbs
Deadlift = 415lbs

Also signed up for self-sanctioned powerlifting meet in September.
Its basically following IPF rules but I don't need to be an IPF member nor wear a singlet :gheylaugh:

Gonna need to drop back down to 83KG to be more competitive

We'll see how that goes.

Deadlift: 187.5kg / 413.37lbs

Took in the 93kg weight class.

The guy that beat me was some crazy olympic lifter that decided to give powerlifting a try

Welcome to the club man. Same has happened to me. I pretty much played with form all last year. Haven't PR'ed in forever because I'm focused on bodyweight. Life gets in the way and we're natty soooo...

Also watched a USAPL powerlifting meet on Saturday.
(my friend was lifting)

it was held at Dan Green’s gym.

Big punch to the gut seeing all those strong lifters in my weight class

There was a guy lifting in both the open and junior (19-23) division in my weight class (93kg)
he squatted 550, bench 450 and deadlifties 650

the meet im doing in May is being held there too

Switched up my programming to prep for the meat.

going to do a month of a volume block (yay 4-5 sets of 8-10 reps )

then a month of a strength block.

then a short peaking block into the meat.

im already on the 2nd week of Volume.

Yesterday for back squats I repped out a 4x8 at 295 pounds (weight is supposed to be 75% of max)

RPE felt like an 8.

Last week I did a 4x8 at 290 pounds. RPE felt like 9.5

i hope this volume pays off

5x8 at 200lbs at RPE 8. Went smooth as butter. Went so fast my gym buddies thought I was doing speed reps

last week did 5x8 at 195, RPE 9.75

I'm sure some days are fantastic and some days are off
Just keep at it.. right mindset.. I'd get into some yoga as well.
Keep shit even and probably help improve your strength and growth.

Read Goggins book if you haven't

Yoga was incredibly difficult for me when I tried it with P90X. I'm about as flexible as a flagpole. I've never sweat so much without moving before.

Quick Reply: Im still fat(according to OP)
