I am in Calgary too. I just got my 07 TL in Sept... I took the car for a spin with the snow we got tonight... If the falken's are at all like the stock michelin's I would say yes...

Based on other car's I had Winter tires on, in calgary, I would stay away from the super soft "multi-cell compound" winter tires... They don't last very long because our
roads aren't snow/ice covered enough of the time.

I am thinking either the Blizzak LM22, Michelin X-Ice, or Dunlop Sport M3. I have Kumho KW19 on my Subaru but I think the others are better on dry, even though they are more $.

This is my first winter with the car here in Halifax. In Ontario I toughed it out with the stock Michelin all seasons but out here they're not going to cut it. Everyone out here swear's by x-ice's which is what the Acrua dealer sells as well. Based on the research I did I narrowed it down to X-ice's or Blizzak's. I decided to go with the X-ice's as, unbenounced to me, a few people I know ran them last winter and raved about them. I have an appointment to get them put on Friday morning.

After using Nokian RSI for the past 2 winters, I had to replace them this fall.

My choice this time around was for Nokian Hakka 5 Studded
(Since visitors are now allowed studs in Ontario)

They are less noisy then I expected (drove over 2,300 KM in 1 week )

see the following;
http://www.nokiantyres.com/release?i...ar=2007&group=

http://www.nokiantyres.com/tyre?id=1...kapeliitta%205

Be warned, they are not cheap but if nothing but the best winter is what you want, they are it.

Best regards

I used the X-Ice last winter. I did not like the performance with them at all.

Just picked up my A-spec a few months ago and I love it to death. Just waiting for the weather to warm up to decide what kind of wheels I'll be getting.

You can use the forum to post and browse. Supporting members just get benefits at vendors. I've been a (non-supporting) member for years as i live in Ottawa.

If there's a meet in TO, i might drive down for it depending on the day.
I picked up a SSM 02 TL-S w/55km last week.

Lastest vr. of Navi Update for '05 TL

It's official people the Navi Disk v3.70 ordered from the US at $149 works just fine in my Canadian car. Alpine Canada will tell you they can't guarantee the U.S. disk will work in the Canadian car, but it does.

And Alpine U.S.A will not accept a Canadian credit car nor will they ship to Canada. I would call this ILLEGAL as Alpine U.S. will take my Canadian CC and ship other products to me. So they are in Collusion with either Alpine Canada or Acura in order to gouge us CND's.
I paid $149 U.S. while in Canada they want over $250 for the same disk!!

Last year when I complained to Acura Canada they told me the difference was due to the $$$ but obviously that holds no water this year, they are liar's !

Sorry I do not know anyone in your area but may I suggest to look for shops that specialise themselves in Honda products would be agood start.

Ask them what they will replace and if they do not mention the water pump along with the timing belt, don't walk away, Run! away

Anyone in Montreal region know of any junk-yard/scrap-yards? I need to find a place locally that has wrecked TLs---I'm in need of a new rear bumper. If some of you might have seen a o4 SSM TL driving around with a busted rear-bumper--well thats me. lol.
I found some in Saint-Bernard but that's 3 hours away... and I'm not sure how to get there.

If you mean St-Bernard de Lacolle, that is off Highway 15 near the New York Border.

From Montreal, Decarie Boul, Champlain Bridge, follow directions for I-87 Plattsburg (Highway 15 South) From the Champlain Bridge, its about 25 minutes away.

You other choice is to look in the yellow pages and call each one of the scrap yards yourself.

Please be aware of the prices before you call the scrap yards. A new bumper unpainted is less then $300 in the USA.

There are severall available on Ebay for less then & $70.00 plus freight ($80 in the USA) Get it shipped to Freeport Forwarding (just across the border) and pick it up yourself. (See www.freeportforwarding.com)

I thought that st-bernard would be far... says it's like 200kms away on google map, unless I did something wrong lol. Thanks for the directions though.
Unfortunetely when I called to check on prices--no one spoke english... at both locations-shit-. I figured, though, that a rear bumper would be cheaper at the scrap yard since the vehicles are practically un-drivable. I won't buy something used from a wrecked car if it's going to cost me almost the same as the dealer price [310 from acura laval/400 from luciani acura].
I haven't found any on ebay, yet. I guess I'll look again. Thanks for the help!

On another note.. has any 3g Canadian TLers from o4-o6 installed fogs on their TLs? I mean.. use the DRL as inner fogs as our USDM counter-part.

CANADIANS, please make something clear for me. Eveyone is saying there is a recall on the 3rd gear on 2005 6 speed TL. 10 min ago I was on the phone with the dealership and I gave them my VIN number and they checked it out and only said that some hose was changed which has nothing to do with the transmission. I specificly asked them about the 3rd gear (which I found out on this site about) and the person I was talking to said there is no such thing (recall that is). Now is that correct and has anyone done that in canada or is this a US thing and we get shafted.

The only recall that was mentioned on my 05 canadian TL was the power steering hose.... my dealership replaced it the day I got it

yea I called the dealership and they told me the same thing, and they told me my car had it done cuz they checked the VIn number. My 3rd gear is grindign sometimes but only on rare ocassion, its pissing me off and they will probably say they cant replicate the problem when I take it to them. Still have 9000km warranty so its worth a try I guess

Eh, how are you other canuks doin' eh.

Here in windsor, not many other t.l.'s or anything but big three here in c.a.w. Land. Most don't even know what acura is, in fact there's not even a dealer here in chrysler country.
I simply went looking for the best bang for my buck ,and wound up with a nice 08 t.l.,dealers loaner, with 7,000 miles.

What was i gonna buy, a chrysler 300, bigger than a yacht, a ford fusion, malibu,....please.

Had it for 7 weeks and loving it more every day.
Sorry no nav, but my wife tells me where to go anyway.
N.b.p. With parchment int.
In windsor and detroit next door, should have bought the mdx with these brutal roads.

I have a 2004 TL Black 5AT, no navi in Vancouver. Bought it a year ago, love the car. However, as per my other posts in 'problems & fixes" I just had my tranny replaced under warranty with 2 months left before expiration. The tranny had a "drone' or vibration at 55km, under 1500 rpm in 4th gear (city traffic). Sounded like I was driving over lane markers on a highway. the service dealer was able to replicate on a test drive. Lucky because it would have cost me huge $$$ after warranty expired.

So, if you have experienced this, get it looked at now!!! there is no official recall on this tranny problem even though quite a few 3G TL owners (in US) have had this happen to their tranny.

Yep! I go to windsor often (kingsville actually, but spend a lot of time in windsor too) and 95% of the cars on the road are american. Mostly compacts, every other car is a cavalier, sunfire, neon, etc. Now that I think about it I don't think I've EVER seen another 3G TL in Windsor. I've seen 2Gs once or twice. When you get out in the county (kingsville, etc) it's even worse, there are virtually no non-American cars on the road. The first explanation that comes to mind is that they can only afford the worst cars over there, but I think I recall reading somewhere that essex county has one of the highest median salaries in canada, so I don't know what's going on down there.
