What happens if you remove the CD changer?
Hello, first post here. I'm trying to find just the right CPO TSX, and I'm on the fence about whether or not to be picky about the tech package. Aside from the cost, the only real reason not to want it is that I have absolutely no use for an in-dash CD changer, but would really prefer the storage cubby from a non-tech model. Aside from obviously not being able to play CDs, are there any other consequences to pulling the CD changer and replacing it with the cubby from a non-tech TSX? Is this even possible? Do you lose bluetooth or anything like that? I seem to recall reading that there is a DVD drive in the trunk for nav maps, but I can't just run out and check yet. I searched and could not find an answer. Thanks!

Probably wont be of much consequence, though you should subscribe to Hondatech for 3 days for the tsx service manual and check the teardown of the center console to see how hard it is to remove and if the parts look like they are swappable
side note: ...maybe remove the navigation screen and have two storage cubbies?

Isn't the dvd used for software updates? Is it tied into the diagnostic loop like the Audi/BMW radios?

I'm fine with leaving the nav screen and DVD drive in the trunk. In fact, I'd love to hack the system so my passengers could watch videos on it while we're driving (via iPod video line in, which I'd the only way, AFAIK).
In researching the answer to this question, I saw a changer at a pick-a-part, and it had 4 or 5 plugs on the back, which makes me think there's more to it than a simple player. Whether or not the car's various systems will freak out when you start pulling those plugs is the question I have.

2011-2014 tech has 60GB of hard drive and only 15GB for music the rest are for Nav. From what I was told when you insert the nav DVD it takes a while to download to the hard drive and if you insert a music CD you can have it set on auto record to drive/selected or just listen.

The DVD drive unit below the HVAC control is the actual radio in the tech package vehicles. If you remove this unit non of the display will work. The sub display MIGHT still display the HVAC info.

Thanks, Evo9. I confirmed this earlier today in this thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tsx-...player-961144/ Check out the wiring diagram.
